Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 280: Please Punish Them!
Chapter 280: Please Punish Them!
However, before she could leave, Betty broke free from the two people beside her and called out through her tears, "Abigail, please stop. Please forgive your little sister. She’s pregnant..." She pleaded, kneeling behind her.
Abigail stopped in her tracks and looked back. She was surprised to see Betty, who usually bullied her, now kneeling and begging in tears. Already aware of her trick, she didn’t move at all. Only a thin smile framed her lips.
"Betty, I’m sorry, but I can’t do that because the report has been submitted to the police. Ah, it seems they have arrived—" Abigail said while making way for several police officers who had just entered the VIP room.
"Abigail, you bitch!! Just wait, I will ensure you feel my revenge!!" Vanessa shouted through her tears. She wanted to run after her and slap her, but two people held her back.
"Shut up, Vanessa!" Betty snapped at her foolish daughter. "You should be begging, not provoking her!"
Abigail was no longer bothered by Vanessa and Betty. She made her way toward the front door. However, just a few steps from the restaurant, she was stunned beyond words when she saw Sawyer standing beside her car.
Her smile grew wider as she continued walking and fit herself into his embrace.
After hugging for a few seconds, she looked up to meet his worried gaze. "Did you abandon your job again because of me?"
She felt terrible seeing him sacrifice so much for her. That’s why she had been hesitant to share this situation with him. However, she didn’t stop his people from informing him because she knew he deserved to know the truth.
"No," Sawyer replied quickly, but she could see the lie in his eyes.
Smiling faintly, she asked, "Since when have you been here?"
Sawyer took his time to respond to her. She rubbed her red cheeks, feeling the warmth linger for a moment before he took her hand and opened the car door for her.
After ensuring she was seated comfortably, he climbed in beside her and asked the driver to start the vehicle.
There was no reason for them to stay any longer in that place. Vincent and the police were more than capable of handling the situation.
Sawyer held her hand tightly and explained that he had just arrived at the restaurant. However, he could see and hear everything happening in the VIP room on his way there.
Abigail was stunned to learn this. She knew that Vincent had set up a video to record everything happening in the VIP room to capture Vanessa’s statement that she had kidnapped and wanted to kill Milan; they needed that to imprison her. However, she was not aware that they could actually stream the video.
"Wait! So, you said the camera on Vincent’s coat could stream live or from CCTV?" she asked, doubtful whether any working CCTV was in the VIP room.
"Hmm... I can also hear the voices. To be honest, I’m not worried about your safety because I know Vincent can protect you. However, just hearing the way they speak to you was enough to make me angry."
Sawyer’s voice was calm, but Abigail could see the redness on his face as he tried to control his emotions.
The corners of Abigail’s lips lifted slightly, forming a faint smile at his words. She was used to Betty’s attitude towards her. That woman was always kind when her father was around. Still, when he wasn’t, she resembled the wicked stepmother often portrayed in movies.
"What do you want to do with them?" he asked.
Abigail turned to look at him again, a soft frown crossing her face as she briefly considered Betty and Vanessa. Before entering the VIP room to confront Vanessa, she remembered that she had heard from Vincent’s people who were helping Milan that Vanessa had tortured Milan cruelly.
"I want both of them to face severe punishment, especially Vanessa; she’s hurting Milan! How could I let her escape punishment this time? I won’t!" Abigail’s anger radiated from her gaze as she thought about Milan’s injury.
"I will make sure they will get their punishment."
"Thank you. Oh, Sawyer..." Abigail said, tightening her grip on him. "We need to go to the hospital. I want to see Milan right now."
"Hmm, we’re heading there now, Abby," Sawyer said with a smile, gently wiping away the tears slowly falling from the corners of her eyes. He felt heartbroken to see her cry. "Dear, I know you want to go there. Your friend is now in the best doctor’s care."
"Thank you." Her heart swelled with gratitude, knowing that her husband had planned everything to help Milan and ensure she received the best medical care.
...
Once they arrived at the hospital, they headed directly to the intensive care room.
Abigail was utterly shocked. She could only see Milan through a large glass window that separated them outside the room.
"Why isn’t she awake yet? Sawyer, what happened to her?" Abigail’s voice trembled in shock. She couldn’t believe what she saw. Milan lay stiffly sleeping, with several tubes attached to her body connected to the medical equipment surrounding the bed.
Sawyer grasped her hand tightly, trying to prevent her from falling. He was already worried that she might faint after witnessing how severe Milan’s condition had become. Still, he couldn’t hide the truth from her.
"What did they do to her?" Abigail’s heart ached at the sight of Milan in such a bad state. She looked up to meet Sawyer’s gaze. "Will she wake up? Will she be healthy again?"
"Mmm, don’t worry. Her external condition was horrible, with so many injuries and a few broken bones. Still, she will recover, although it will take time..." Sawyer explained Milan’s medical condition in detail while leading Abigail to sit on one of the benches at the end of the corridor.
When Abigail hears about it, she feels even sadder and angrier. It’s hard for her to believe that Milan, her only friend, has to suffer because of her fight with Vanessa.
"Sawyer, this is very cruel. I beg you to please bring justice to Milan. Help punish all those involved and responsible for what they did to her. Give them the harshest punishment possible." She begged, her voice sounding cold, too angry to imagine how hurt Milan was now.
"I will, my love. I will do anything to punish them severely!" Sawyer vowed.
"Thank you..." After discussing a few things with Sawyer, Abigail feels much better. However, something crosses her mind: "Oh, right. What about her father? Before Milan told me, she had planned to return to her family home because her father was in the hospital. Is he alright?"
Sawyer took a deep breath before responding to her. "I already asked Ethan to investigate. Her family is fine; it seems Vanessa planned to lure Milan out for that reason. She captures Milan when she arrives at the train station."
Abigail was stunned. She couldn’t believe Vanessa was bold enough to kidnap Milan in the middle of the city.
"Can you ask someone to look after her family? I’m worried. Vanessa still has people who could harm Milan’s family," she said, concerned that more people might be hurt because of her malicious half-sister.
"Sure, dear. I will take care of that," Sawyer assured her.
Abigail let out a deep sigh. Despite hearing Sawyer’s promise, she still felt uneasy about the whole situation, as if danger loomed over her. She continues to worry that her family or other loved ones might be hurt.
"What happened, Abby? Why do you still seem worried and scared?" Sawyer asked, concerned.
Abigail looked him in the eyes and, with a half-smile, said, "Vanessa and Betty will receive their punishment, but what about Ryland? That man is still out there, free. I’m worried that if he finds out about Vanessa and me owning Camellia Modern Design, he might come after me, right?"
Sawyer smiled back at her, shaking his head. He already wanted to deal with that man, but he was waiting for the right opportunity to do so.
"Since the last time that man caused a disturbance in your office, I’ve had my people keep an eye on him. They will act if he tries to harm you or anyone close to you." Sawyer paused when he noticed her gasp.
He continued, gently running his hand along her back. "Abby, would you like me to deal with him as well? I have some information that could easily land him in jail."
Abigail felt no sympathy for the man; he threatened her future. "If he breaks the rules, you must report him, even if it has nothing to do with me."
Sawyer smiled, knowing he would punish the man sooner than he had initially planned. "Abby, as a responsible citizen, I will report him. Don’t worry about it," he promised.
"Hmm, I trust you," Abigail replied, feeling a great weight lift off her shoulders. She was relieved knowing that the man would be locked up in jail.
However, her relief slowly faded. After waiting a few hours, Milan seemed not to awaken anytime soon.
Abigail and Sawyer decided to return home after speaking with the doctor who was overseeing Milan’s condition. She planned to come back tomorrow to check on Milan’s progress.
