Chapter 279: Foolish!

"What if I refuse?" Abigail responded.

Vanessa frowned, anger flashing in her eyes as she processed Abigail’s words. After staring at Abigail briefly, she said coldly, "You won’t see Milan again, Abigail! You chose..."

Abigail’s calm expression gradually shifted to tension. "What do you mean, Vanessa...?" She paused, covering her mouth with her hand, startled by her thoughts. "Oh, no way. Vanes, are you saying you will kill Milan?" she asked, her shock clearly visible in her gaze and face.

Vanessa stifled a smile when she saw the calmness in Abigail’s eyes fade and transform into fear. This was what she wanted to see: Abigail revealing her weakness.

"Well, you are r—" Her voice abruptly stopped when Betty’s hand covered her mouth, silencing her. She turned to see her mother looking confused, puzzled by the sudden interruption.

Betty leaned closer to her daughter, still covering Vanessa’s mouth. She spoke in a whisper, ensuring only Vanessa could hear her words. "Are you crazy? How could you admit that you would kill Milan?"

Vanessa took a deep breath, attempting to free herself from her mother’s palm covering her mouth, but she couldn’t. "Mom, what are you afraid of? She won’t hurt me because I have Milan as my hostage," she said calmly to reassure her mother.

However, Betty was even more concerned about her daughter’s confidence. She felt that Vanessa had lost her mind, and she couldn’t allow her to proceed with her plan.

Betty grasped Vanessa’s hand tightly and warned her again, "Vanes, did you notice something? Your bodyguard outside can’t stop that man from entering this room." She finally released Vanessa’s hand but remained vigilant to ensure that Vanessa wouldn’t reveal her plan to harm Milan.

Vanessa was stunned. She grabbed her cell phone and quickly texted the bodyguard waiting outside.

"What the fuck are you guys doing out there? Why did you let Abigail enter my VIP room with someone else? I won’t pay your fee if you don’t do your job properly!"

After sending the text message, Vanessa felt nervous. Something had happened with her bodyguard outside, and Abigail had already captured them all, so she was able to enter with her bodyguard.

It didn’t take long before a buzzing sound echoed, and she received a message from her bodyguard: "Miss, what do you mean? No one has entered the VIP room area. Has your guest already arrived?"

Reading the text caused Vanessa’s eyebrows to arch in confusion. ’What the hell happened outside?’ she wondered.

Setting aside her confusion, Vanessa leaned closer to her mother and whispered, "Mom, don’t worry. They’re outside. I’ll call them if Abigail tries to do anything. Don’t worry about her; that girl means nothing to us!"

Betty shrugged, choosing not to warn her daughter further. "Alright, it’s up to you, but you must stick to your plan. Bring Abigail back to the company..."

Vanessa nodded in response to her mother’s words, but inwardly, she felt angry because her mother was delaying her plan.

Turning her gaze back to Abigail, Vanessa smiled confidently. "You asked earlier what would happen if you refused," she said. When Abigail nodded, she continued, "As I mentioned, you will not see her again."

"You will kill her?" Abigail asked.

Vanessa could no longer hold back her anger at Abigail’s slowness. "YES! Why, you ask again! YES! YES, I will take her life and blame you for what happened to her. So, Abigail, stop thinking and follow what I wanted you to do—"

Abigail once again covers her mouth with her palm in shock, her eyes staring at Vanessa in horror.

"Now, you’re afraid, Abigail!" Vanessa laughed, took something from her bag, and handed Abigail an agreement paper and a pen. "Abigail, you just need to sign the paper, and Milan will be fine."

Abigail casually picked up the agreement letter that Vanessa had handed her. After reading it thoroughly, her fearful expression gradually faded.

Later, a barely noticeable smile emerged at the corner of her lips as she turned to look at Vincent standing behind her.

"Is everything you need enough?" Abigail asked lightly, handing the agreement letter to Vincent.

After noticing that Abigail hadn’t signed the agreement and ignored them, Betty and Vanessa became increasingly confused. They tried to listen and understand what Abigail said to the man behind her. When they overheard the man’s sentence, both froze, staring at Abigail in horror.

"Yes, ma’am," Vincent said with a reassuring smile. "We have enough evidence to put them both in prison."

"Fantastic! You may proceed with it now!" Abigail clasped her hands happily before turning her gaze back to the mother and daughter before her. "Vanessa, Betty, you both asked me to do this, so I will send you to prison. Now, you both can meet Adam Snow there."

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING, BITCH!" Betty stood up from her chair in anger, her face flushing red as she attempted to approach Abigail. But before she could move, a door suddenly swung open, and a group of men in black clothing with military-like stances entered the room and halted her.

She was shocked beyond words. "Vanes, they are?" she glanced at her daughter in confusion. "Why did your people stop me from slapping that bitch?"

"Abigail, stop your people!" Vanessa screamed as she stood up from her seat, leaving Betty shocked to discover that the group of men in black actually belonged to Abigail.

Ignoring her mother, Vanessa fixed a sharp gaze on Abigail. However, she began to feel nervous again when she noticed how calm and composed Abigail appeared, sitting in her chair with a smile.

’Did they all guard the wrong place? Why did no one stop these people?’ Vanessa wondered, frustrated. She couldn’t believe that the bodyguard she hired was unaware that this group of men in black had entered the VIP room.

"Stop them? Why should I?" Abigail asked, amused, watching Betty on the verge of fainting as two massive men pinched her again in her chair.

"If you didn’t ask your people to get out, and if you don’t sign the contract I gave you, I will ask my people to torture Milan. I mean it, Abigail! You know I’m capable of doing so, right?" Vanessa threatened in a cold and firm tone.

She didn’t care whether Abigail could summon so many people to enter this room. She will be fine if Milan is still in her hand.

Abigail no longer finds it enjoyable to witness Vanessa’s stupidity. She decides to put an end to it all. Standing up from her chair, she moves closer to her half-sister. Her eyes, which once radiated calm, now slowly turn sharp.

Standing right before Vanessa, she held her chin tightly. She said sarcastically, "My goodness, Vanessa Snow, are you really or pretending to be stupid? Why didn’t you immediately realize that your plan failed when I showed up with my bodyguard?"

Vanessa gritted her teeth in annoyance, wanting to push Abigail’s hand away. Still, Abigail released her grip instead, forcing Vanessa’s head back.

"Abigail, you—" Once again, Vanessa found herself unable to finish her sentence as Abigail interrupted her.

"You know what, Vanessa? I wanted to forgive you because you’re pregnant," Abigail smiled as she looked at Vanessa’s bulging stomach beneath her tight clothes. "But after learning that you harmed Milan, I won’t give you a chance this time. You need to feel the punishment you deserve."

Vanessa felt her whole body shivering as she heard Abigail’s words. She tried to respond, but no sound escaped her lips; it was as if her words had abandoned her. Clenching her hand tightly, she stared back at Abigail with a look of horror.

"You thought Milan was still in your grasp?" Abigail asked calmly, a smile playing on her lips as she noticed the expression on Vanessa’s face.

Abigail took her time before continuing, her gaze shifting to Betty. Seeing the paleness of Betty’s face brought her a sense of satisfaction.

"You are wrong, Vanessa..." Abigail looked her half-sister in the eye before continuing. "Milan is on her way to the hospital for medical treatment and a post-mortem. We need the evidence to take you to prison on charges of kidnapping, death threats, and more."

Vanessa’s legs suddenly weakened, causing her to fall backward in her chair. She stared at Abigail with a frightened expression.

"Abigail, how could you know?" Her voice trembled as she began to understand. Her father had once mentioned that someone powerful would be Abigail’s ally. "Did someone help you? Who is that person?" she asked, her eyes darting to the man with shoulder-length hair standing like a guard beside Abigail.

"You don’t deserve to know who’s helping me!" Abigail said coldly. She had spent too long in this situation, fearing her husband would become concerned.

"Vincent, I need to return now. Please hurry with anything you have. And make sure they both get their severe punishment!" she said, grabbing her Birkin bag before walking to the door.
