Chapter 265: Pregnancy Test Result

The next Monday.

As usual, Abigail goes to her office, and Sawyer drives her to the CMD building.

"Abby, why are you still busy? Didn’t you say you’d take a year-end holiday?" Sawyer asked before they entered the elevator.

Abigail was taken aback. Although she was supposed to be on holiday, something important came up, prompting her to visit the office today.

She glanced at him with a smile, trying to ease his annoyance. "I did, but today is my last day. Don’t worry; I won’t take long."

Sawyer let out a deep sigh as he softly caressed her cheek. "Okay, I’ll wait upstairs. I hope we can have lunch together."

"Hmm, don’t worry; I’ll wrap things up before lunch," Abigail replied. She hugged him once more before stepping out of the elevator.

As Abigail walked to her office, her heart raced.

Milan immediately stood up when she saw Abigail walking toward her desk. She cheerfully greeted her. "Good morning, Boss!"

Abigail responded with a nervous smile. "Good morning, Milan. Did you get it for me?" she asked.

"Yes, I put it on your table, Boss why—" Milan couldn’t finish her sentence as she saw Abigail walking toward her office. "Good luck, Boss!" she giggled before returning to work.

...

Abigail stood before her desk, staring at the pregnancy test kit.

The day before, she had asked Milan to buy it for her, not wanting Sawyer to find out about it.

After taking a few deep breaths, she finally grabbed the test kit and entered the bathroom.

A few minutes later, she was shaking as she looked at the test result.

"Oh my God! Oh my—" she shut her mouth, anxious not to make a sound. Again, she rechecked the results, and they remained unchanged—positive. She was indeed pregnant.

As she gazed at her reflection in the mirror, her attention was drawn to her still-flat stomach. There were no visible signs that she was pregnant; in fact, she had entirely forgotten that her period was more than a week late.

Unknowingly, she gently stroked her hands over her stomach to calm herself as her heart raced with overwhelming emotions.

Abigail wanted to share the good news with her husband, but she felt puzzled about how to tell him. Numerous ideas for revealing her pregnancy popped into her mind. Still, the more she thought about it, the more confused she became.

Putting aside how to share the happy news of her pregnancy with Sawyer, Abigail quickly grabbed the test kit and left the bathroom.

When the door swung open, Abigail was shocked to find Sawyer standing there. Why was he here? Wasn’t he supposed to be on the fifth floor?

"Sa-Sawyer... what are you doing here?" Abigail asked, her voice trembling as if she had just been caught red-handed doing something terrible.

A thrill ran through her as she tried to hide the test kit behind her, hoping Sawyer hadn’t noticed it. But it was too late; he had already seen it.

Sawyer stared at her anxiously, placing his hands on her shoulders. He noticed her eyes trembling as she looked back at him.

"Abby, can you tell me the result?" Sawyer asked while trying to control his emotions. He had already prepared for this moment because his mother and grandmother had always advised him to prioritize Abigail’s health and nutrition to ensure a smooth pregnancy.

Earlier, when he walked into her office and saw the pregnancy test kit on the table, he was shocked—Abigail had taken a test without telling him. He felt his knees turn to jelly as he waited for her to come out of the bathroom, eager to know the result.

Abigail swallowed nervously, realizing her plan to keep it a secret had failed. "Sawyer, you know? How? Did Milan tell you?"

"Yes, I know. I saw the test kit box on your desk," Sawyer replied, causing Abigail to almost trip over her own feet.

’How could I forget to bring the box inside?’ Abigail silently scolded herself. It was pointless to hide it from him now; he already knew.

Abigail could no longer contain her happiness as she gazed into his curious, gentle eyes. Tears welled up in her eyes. Instead of answering his question, she handed him the test kit to check.

Her smile widened as she watched him take the test kit, confusion etched on his face as he looked back at her.

"Abby, this... this ’positive’ sign means you’re... pregnant? Right?" Sawyer asked, his calm demeanor replaced by a shaky voice and eyes that glistened with tears.

Abigail nodded, confirming his question. "Yes," she replied softly. Before she could say anything else, he had wrapped her in his arms.

His embrace was warm, and his trembling, gentle voice soon whispered in her ear, "Abby, the love of my life, congratulations. Congratulations..."

Although she hadn’t managed to surprise him, Abigail felt happy at this moment. Seeing her husband cry tears of joy deepened her love for him.

She wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head against his chest, listening to the loud and comforting sound of his heartbeat.

They embraced for a while, but soon, her happy smile began to fade as a thought crossed her mind. She gently pushed him away, causing him to frown with concern as he looked into her eyes.

"What happened? Do you feel uncomfortable?" Sawyer asked, holding her hand. "Let’s sit down, Abby..." He led her to the seating area.

After settling onto the couch, worry and confusion lingered in Sawyer’s eyes as he stared at her. He waited for her to say something, but she merely returned his gaze.

"My wife, if you’re feeling uncomfortable, let’s go to the hospital now to check on your health and the baby," Sawyer said, pulling out his cell phone. "I need to call Aaron to arrange for an OB-GYN."

Abigail grabbed his hand to stop him from making the call. Seeing him frown, she said, "Sawyer, I’m fine. But I’m just confused. Why did you suddenly come down here? I thought you were waiting for me upstairs."
