Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 264: Seal His Fate!
Chapter 264: Seal His Fate!
At Nathaniel Jones’ residence,
Harvey Jones couldn’t shake his nerves about meeting his grandfather and father. Since yesterday, he has been trying to arrange a meeting with them to discuss his removal from the position of CEO of J Groups. He needed to plead with them to restore his position.
Although the bribery case involving him had been closed without evidence of his involvement, and the details of his wild nightlife no longer appeared online, he still felt anxious about the meeting.
"Master, don’t worry too much. I’m confident you’ll get your position back. Your grandfather has no reason not to give you the CEO role again," said Harvey’s assistant, trying to calm his boss.
Harvey glances tensely at his assistant and the driver before focusing on the house door. He notices that Thomas, his grandfather’s butler, is already waiting for him in front of the main door.
"Argghh, this sucks! But I hope you’re right," Harvey said anxiously as he got out of the car.
...
Thomas politely bowed his head as Harvey approached. "Young Master Harvey, welcome. Please follow me; your father and Old Master are waiting for you in his study." He gestured for Harvey to walk ahead before following closely behind.
As Harvey walked silently towards Nathaniel’s office, something suddenly came to his mind. He remembered Thomas asking him to come at nine in the morning. Still, suddenly, Thomas called him again and changed the schedule to after lunch.
"Do you know why they asked me to come at noon?" Harvey asked, glancing at Thomas.
"Young Master Sawyer visited this morning." Thomas’s sentence abruptly caused Harvey to stop in his tracks and turn to face him.
"What did you just say? Sawyer met Grandpa this morning!?" Harvey asked, surprised. "How long did Grandpa meet him? Did he also meet my dad?"
Thomas was taken aback when Harvey quickly bombarded him with so many questions. He silently scolded himself for slipping up in front of Harvey.
Worried the old master might scold him, Thomas ignored Harvey’s questions and announced Harvey’s arrival instead.
"Young master Harvey, please enter..."
Harvey could only smile bitterly, knowing that Thomas had ignored him. He entered the room and sat on the couch opposite his father and grandfather.
After waiting a while, Harvey still didn’t explain why he had asked them to meet. Nathaniel impatiently said, "Harvey, you can speak now. Why did you ask to meet us?"
Walter Jones glanced at his son with concern. He understood why his son wanted to meet them, but he felt powerless to assist because, as the largest shareholder, his father had the authority to determine Harvey’s fate.
Harvey clenched his hands tightly, gazing at his grandfather with tension. "Grandpa, I’m sure you’ve heard about my case, right? I was cleared of all charges. I hope you will consider my return to the company..."
Harvey clenches his fist when his Grandpa says nothing. "Please, Grandpa, give me one more chance. I promise I can prove I’m capable of solving this crisis." He tried to convince him.
Nathaniel didn’t respond to Harvey directly; instead, he asked Walter, "What about the company’s current condition?"
Walter was surprised when his father asked a question. He had already explained everything in detail before Harvey arrived, so he wondered why the question was being raised again.
Despite his confusion, Walter repeated his earlier statements. The company continued to suffer significant losses across various business lines, and its stock price also showed a downward trend. Several other shareholders were putting pressure on the board of directors, which left him feeling stressed in his role as CEO.
Walter wished to return the CEO position to Harvey or Sawyer. However, his father wouldn’t let Harvey reclaim the role, and his youngest son declined to take over the company.
"Father, that’s the issue we’re dealing with now..." Walter finished his explanation, looking at his father with concern.
Nathaniel sighed softly, then glanced at Harvey. He sighed deeply when he saw his younger grandson, who appeared tense and nervous.
"Harvey, you heard what your father explained? That’s the problem the company is facing now, all because of you. You made our company suffer so many losses, and now you ask me to return your position?"
Harvey’s hands clenched even tighter. "Grandpa, I’m sorry. But I promise you, I will—"
Nathaniel interrupted Harvey, not allowing him to finish his sentence. "This is why I remind you to conduct business properly before taking on the CEO role. Don’t get involved in trouble because if you do, many people will suffer, not just you."
Harvey clenched his jaw, unable to deny his grandfather’s words.
"And my answer remains the same: you are not qualified to be CEO, Harvey! I’m sorry, but I can’t fulfill your wish, my dear..."
"Grandpa, please give me one more chance."
Nathaniel simply shook his head and didn’t say anything.
Frustrated with his grandfather, who had flatly refused his request even after he begged, anger churned within Harvey. "Grandpa, are you going to appoint Sawyer as CEO?" He suspected his grandfather would do just that, especially since Sawyer had come to meet them that morning.
Nathaniel was surprised to hear Harvey’s words and calmly responded, "Yes. I asked him to replace you—"
"I knew it!" Harvey couldn’t suppress his emotions. His eyes turned red as he glared at his grandfather. "Why did you give the CEO position to that BASTARD!?"
"Harvey Jones, watch your words, young man!" Walter snapped, taken aback by Harvey’s unexpected insult towards Sawyer, calling him a bastard.
"Dad, you have no right to be angry with me. I said what I believed was right. Sawyer is a BASTARD; he doesn’t deserve to be the CEO of J Group!" Harvey said curtly.
Walter opened his mouth, ready to scold his eldest son, but Nathaniel’s laughter suddenly boomed, causing him to pause.
"Harvey, that’s what sets Sawyer apart from you," Nathaniel chuckled before continuing. "You are very greedy for money, power, and status. But your brother, Sawyer? He doesn’t care about any of that. When I begged him to become the CEO of J Group, he refused..."
Harvey froze, unable to believe what he was hearing.
’Sawyer turned down the opportunity to lead J Group? Why would he do that?’
