Chapter 263: His Plan

Another day has passed, and the weekend has arrived.

Abigail spent the weekend at home. Since marrying Sawyer, this is the first time he has left her alone. She was anxious that something terrible might have happened to his business. Still, Sawyer reassured her that there was no need to worry. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

To keep Abigail company, Sawyer invited his mother and their two grandmothers to visit their home.

At first, Abigail doesn’t think much of it, but later, she overhears their conversation.

Martha takes Hannah’s hand and asks, "Are you sure she’s not pregnant?"

Hannah smiled as she noticed her mother-in-law’s excitement. "I guess not yet, Mother. A few weeks ago, I heard she still gets her period."

Sophie’s concerned tone echoed in response to Hannah and Martha’s conversation. "I think we need to ask Sawyer to hire an experienced lady’s maid to help Abby with her needs. This way, we can keep track of her period and ensure she is getting healthy food and other necessities."

"You’re right, Sophie," Martha agreed, nodding in understanding. "It’s impossible for Sawyer’s butler to assist Abigail with this."

Hannah chimed in, "How could I forget? I’ll ask Sawyer to let the old nanny from my house come to work here."

Abigail stood in the doorway. She could only let out a silent sigh upon overhearing their conversation.

However, it didn’t take long for her to feel a shiver run down her spine when a troubling thought crossed her mind.

’Oh my gosh! Why hasn’t my period arrived yet?’ she thought anxiously, counting the days on her fingers. ’Am I pregnant? No way. Why don’t I feel anything?’

A nervous smile appeared on her lips as she tried to hide her anxiety, aware that she hadn’t had her period for more than a week.

As Abigail lost herself in thought, she heard Sophie’s voice calling, "Abby? What are you doing there, honey? Come here and join us..."

Abigail quickly hid her hands, anxious that her grandmother and the others might figure out what she was doing. She hurried over to them, sat beside her grandmother, and smiled awkwardly.

"Sorry, Grandma, Grandma Martha, and Mom. Sorry for keeping you waiting. I fell asleep..." Abigail admitted shyly. After Sawyer left the house, she dozed off while reading the news online.

Sophie chuckled and gently patted Abigail on the back. "It’s okay, my dear. Paul already took care of our snacks."

Martha and Hannah’s laughter filled the room, gradually easing the tension that Abigail had felt earlier.

However, not long after, Hannah, sitting across from Abigail and Sophie, looked concerned as she noticed Abigail’s pale and tense expression. "How are you, honey? Is everything alright?"

Sophie and Martha were shocked to hear Hannah’s worried question. Glancing at Abigail, they suddenly noticed her expression was different from usual.

"Abby, why is your hand so cold? Are you feeling okay?" Sophie asked with concern, placing her hand on Abigail’s forehead.

"Let’s call a doctor," Martha suggested.

Abigail quickly shook her head, politely rejecting their idea. She worried that if Sawyer found out, he might drop everything and rush home. "I’m fine. I just woke up in a hurry," she tried to convince them.

"Are you sure?" Hannah asked, still worried.

A wide smile spread across Abigail’s lips as she looked at Hannah. "Yes, Mom. I’m really okay," she said.

Abigail quickly switched the conversation to Hannah, who had just returned from a trip abroad. She didn’t want them to concentrate on her.

She felt relieved that they were no longer focused on her. Yet, in her heart, she still felt nervous, knowing her period was late.

On the fiftieth floor of Silverstone Tower, Sawyer sat on the sofa, deep in thought and ignoring the stares of Ethan, Rowan Sterling, and Brody, who were all in the room with him.

After a while, he turned his attention to Ethan, who was now focused on his laptop. "Are you sure that the Morgan family was the one who helped Harvey out of the bribery case?" Sawyer asked.

Sawyer suspected this would happen because the Morgan family, part of Old Money in this country, also had significant political influence. He believed Harvey must have asked his mother for help.

Ethan nodded slowly before explaining, "Yes, boss. His grandfather met with the police chief a few days ago. And not long after, Harvey was suddenly declared not guilty because there was insufficient compelling evidence to implicate him in the case."

"Boss, why didn’t we give the police our key card? If we had provided strong evidence to the investigator, Harvey’s case wouldn’t have been closed so quickly," Brody added.

Sawyer took a deep breath upon hearing Brody’s suggestion. Although he wanted to pursue it, he also considered the potential consequences: his family name would be tarnished, and the company would lose trust. He didn’t want that to happen.

His primary goal was to remove Harvey from the CEO position and ensure he never had a chance to return to the company.

Sawyer had met with his father and grandfather early this morning. He met them early before heading to his office.

His father and Grandfather sought his opinion on taking the CEO role at J Groups. However, Sawyer declined their offer. Instead, he suggested they hire a more qualified professional to lead the company, just as he had done with Silverstone Group by bringing Andy Bennet to work for him.

He didn’t know what his father and grandfather would do in the future, but one thing he was sure of was that they didn’t have a plan to appoint Harvey as the CEO of J Group.

Sawyer looked at Rowan. "What are your thoughts on Harvey’s case, Rowan? Can the investigation go on?"

"If the situation involves politics, it can be quite complicated and may take a long time to get him indicted and imprisoned," Rowan explained to Sawyer, providing more insight from a legal and political standpoint.

After some time, Sawyer decided to set aside the issue with Harvey. However, he instructed Ethan to keep a watchful eye on Harvey.
