Chapter 256: You Need To Apologize To Her!
Nathaniel and Martha remained silent, but their sharp gazes were enough to tell Harvey they didn’t trust him.
"Please trust me like my dad trusts me. I’ve been the CEO of this company for years, and we still turn a significant profit every year..." Harvey continued, a small smile forming at the corners of his lips as he tried to persuade them once more.
Nathaniel narrowed his eyes at Harvey, feeling puzzled. He wanted to believe him but couldn’t ignore Sawyer’s warning either.
"Sawyer, are you sure the rumors are true? Can you tell me where you heard that?" Nathaniel asked, not taking his eyes off Harvey. He needed to see his reaction.
"I’m sure of it, Grandpa. My source is reliable; he’s my friend..." Sawyer replied calmly, looking at his grandpa.
Nathaniel gasped. He knew only a few of Sawyer’s friends, whom he had seen at his wedding. If Sawyer talked about business gossip, only one person would come to mind.
His hands clenched tightly. Starting to worry that the news was accurate, he turned his gaze to Sawyer. "You mean Andy Bennet, the CEO of Silverstone Group!?" he asked.
"Hmm!"
Harvey was shocked to hear that. ’Damn! Is Andy Bennet really his friend? No way, he must be lying again, right? Tsk... tsk... This Sawyer is asking for trouble...’ he chuckled, glancing at Sawyer.
"Little brother, please stop. You don’t need to tell lies; it only makes you look foolish. How could you possibly know such a big shot in this country? I’m the CEO of J Group and have only met him a few times! And too brief even to become an acquaintance. And now you claim to be friends with him? Tsk, tsk... you’re such a liar and a fool!" Harvey shook his head while laughing.
Abigail was utterly speechless as she listened to Harvey’s words. He spoke too much, and what he said made her blood boil.
She glanced at Sawyer as if looking for his permission to stuff her flat shoes into Harvey’s mouth. However, all she saw was Sawyer smiling. There was no trace of anger in him.
’Gosh! Hubby, you really need to stop Harvey from his delusions. If you can’t do that, let me handle it for you...please...’ Abigail let out a deep, long sigh; she felt impressed by her husband’s calmness.
The room fell silent for a moment. No one spoke, as if they were all still thinking before speaking.
However, shortly afterward, Angela’s voice broke the heavy silence. "Brother Harvey, you’re wrong..."
Harvey frowned while looking at Angela, who sat across from Sawyer. "Wrong!? What do you mean, Angela?" he asked, confused.
Angela could no longer ignore Harvey and let him embarrass himself. She needed to stop this before their father showed up, or her foolish brother would be in trouble. He had already pissed off Grandpa and was now starting to offend Sawyer and Abigail.
"Yes, you’re wrong about Sawyer. He’s not lying. He’s genuinely friends with Andy Bennet," Angela explained. However, Harvey’s reaction left her speechless.
"Bwahaha..." Harvey’s laughter echoed in the living room, startling everyone.
Angela could only curse her brother silently while praying that someone would hit Harvey on the head to make his brain function properly. He was genuinely ignorant and foolish.
"Hell, Angela Jones..." Harvey continued after his laughter faded. "Please don’t tell me you’re on his side now? Damn it! Stop defending him, Angel!" he snapped, his eyes fixed sharply on her.
"I’m not trying to take sides, alright? Not with Sawyer or with you! Don’t twist my words," Angela replied, irritated.
"You—" Harvey could not complete his sentence as Angela raised her hand to stop him.
"I’m not finished yet, Harvey! What Sawyer said is correct. He helped me connect with Andy Bennet to get involved in their retail and e-commerce ventures. Now, my own company has formed a partnership with Silverstone Group!"
Harvey’s mocking smile disappeared instantly, and his frown returned, more profound and apparent.
’How could Angela have a business partnership with Silverstone Group? Even J Group, which often sought cooperation from them, was always turned down,’ Harvey wondered in disbelief.
Harvey’s fists tightened even more as he glared at Sawyer with disgust. After a few more moments of thought, he glanced at Nathaniel.
"Grandpa, even though Sawyer knows Andy Bennet, he can’t claim his statement was true. I’m the one in charge of the company, not Sawyer. You have to believe me," Harvey calmly explained.
"Niel, can we stop talking about work?" Martha suddenly interrupted Nathaniel before he could say anything. "Can you guys discuss it after dinner? Besides, dinner is about to start." She continued to express her thoughts.
Martha felt uneasy hearing their conversation. She was concerned that Abigail was with them, as this was the first time Abigail had joined their family dinner, which might have confused her and made her feel awkward.
Understanding his wife’s concern, Nathaniel nodded and agreed with her. He smiled and gently patted her back before turning to Harvey. "We should discuss it after dinner. You aren’t going anywhere!"
"But Grandpa, I can’t stay here too long. I need to—" novelbuddy.cσ๓
"You can go now if you want, but don’t blame me if tomorrow you’re not sitting as the CEO anymore!" Nathaniel replied calmly.
Harvey’s eyes widened in shock upon hearing his grandpa’s words. He no longer dared to say anything but cursed Sawyer inwardly, who had initiated this conversation and made their grandpa angry.
Nathaniel turned to Abigail and smiled helplessly. "My dear Abigail, I apologize if you saw this embarrassing situation..."
"Grandpa, it’s—" Abigail couldn’t finish her sentence as Sawyer shook his head, signaling her to stop. She could only nod and fix her gaze on him before her attention turned to his grandfather.
"Grandpa, I need my brother to apologize to my wife..." Sawyer said, looking thoughtfully at Nathaniel.
Harvey felt relieved that they were no longer discussing the company. However, hearing Sawyer’s words nearly gave him a heart attack. He quickly turned his head toward Sawyer and the woman next to him.
"WIFE? That woman is your wife?" Harvey asked, unable to believe it.
Sawyer turned his gaze toward Harvey. His eyes were no longer friendly and calm but so sharp that they made Harvey feel his blood run cold.
"Yes, her name is Abigail. She is my lawful wife. And you need to apologize to her—"
