Chapter 245: I Need Your Opinion

A few days later, Abigail headed to her office with Sawyer, who was driving.

The distance from their house wasn’t far, and it was early in the morning, so the traffic was okay. But just before they arrived at the CMD Building, the buzzing sound from Abigail’s bag caught her off guard. She didn’t expect any calls, so she quickly checked her phone and saw a new text from Milan.

"Boss, I’m sorry to text you this early, but I must report something."

Curious about Milan’s message, Abigail was about to reply when another text came in.

"Mr. Andy Bennet’s secretary just called me. She informed me that Mr. Andy Bennet will come and meet you at our office this morning. He wants to discuss a new project with you."

’Why is he coming back?’ Abigail frowned, puzzled after reading Milan’s message. In her last conversation with Andy, he mentioned the project. Still, he didn’t say anything about a follow-up meeting, which confused her.

For the past two days, her mind had been preoccupied with personal affairs and some older projects, leaving her little time to focus on the Silverstone Group’s project.

Abigail needed more details about the project before meeting with Andy, so she pulled her iPad out of her bag and quickly opened the email sent by Andy’s secretary.

She glanced at Sawyer. Looking, he was so immersed in the street ahead that she refused to ask him.

When she decided to ask him later, Sawyer’s voice suddenly echoed, "What happened, Abby? You seem confused," he asked, quickly glancing at her.

She nodded, smiling and amused. Her husband seemed to understand what she was thinking. "Sawyer, do you have any appointment with Andy Bennet today?" she asked.

With a frown, Sawyer glanced briefly at Abigail and replied, "No, I don’t have an appointment with him. Why do you ask?"

"My assistant just messaged me," Abigail explained. "She told me that Andy would come to my office this morning. I don’t have any plans to meet him, and he never mentioned that he would be stopping by today..." She continued to read the file on her iPad.

Abigail felt her hand grow cold after a few more seconds of reading. Clutching her iPad tightly, she finally understood the details of the project.

’Oh my god! Isn’t this the design project Urbangrid Innovation will be working on before I leave the company...?’ Abigail muttered in disbelief. She couldn’t believe the project Ryland wanted to acquire was now at her doorstep.

She was at a loss for words, wondering why Andy had given them this project. Wouldn’t that only make Ryland hate her even more?

Abigail paused momentarily when something crossed her mind, ’No way! Is that why Ryland insisted on coming to the CMD building after discovering we would get this project? Does he know that I own this company?’

The thought that Ryland would create problems for her again has given her headaches.

Sawyer was silent for a moment, lost in thought. He still remembered Andy calling him a few days ago and asking his permission to stop by the CMD Building to congratulate Abigail on opening a new office. But now? What is his purpose?

He glanced at her before commenting, "Why did he come back? Do you know why he came this time?" he asked, looking puzzled.

"Well, the last time he visited my office, he mentioned..." Abigail began to describe Andy’s proposed project to Camellia Modern Design. She pointed out that Ryland Wood’s company should have completed this project before Andy canceled their collaboration, mainly because she no longer works at Urbangrid Innovation.

"Interesting project..." Sawyer commented briefly, turning his attention back to the street.

"What do you think, Sawyer? Should I accept this project?" Abigail asked.

She realized how significant this project could be for her company’s growth. However, she was worried about dealing with Ryland Wood again. She feared that if Ryland discovered she owned Camellia Modern Design, he might create problems for her business.

Abigail needed Sawyer’s opinion on this since he is a shareholder in CMD Group. Furthermore, she didn’t want him to misunderstand if Ryland reappeared in her life one day and caused her trouble.

Sawyer chuckled at Abigail’s question. Glancing at her again, he said, "Abby, why are you confused? You don’t need to hesitate to accept that project. You should trust Andy’s judgment. When he offers this opportunity to your company, it means your company, Camellia Modern Design, has the ability and capacity to work on this project..."

Abigail feels relieved to hear his opinion. That’s precisely what Andy Bennet mentioned when she inquired about his choice of Camellia Modern Design for this project.

But even so, something still bothered her mind and made her reluctant to accept this project.

"Thank you, husband, for your opinion. However, what makes me a bit hesitant," Abigail paused to take a deep breath before continuing, "Someone might accuse me of hijacking this project from them..."

"You mean Ryland Wood?" Sawyer asked calmly, though he felt annoyed knowing the man tried to make trouble in Abigail’s company.

Abigail remained silent but nodded. She was surprised when Sawyer stopped the car in the underground parking garage— they had already arrived at her office.

Sawyer turned off the car engine before fixing her hair. He leaned closer and whispered, "Why are you worried about that? There’s no need to think about him and his company. Just accept Silverstone Group’s offer. If he tries to blame you, I’ll handle him for you..."

Abigail frowned, worried that Sawyer might do something to endanger his life. She would not allow him to hurt himself.

"Husband, please, can you avoid doing something that could endanger yourself? I..." she said, her voice filled with worry.

Sawyer didn’t respond to her concerns. Instead, he leaned closer and kissed her to silence her words.

After he kissed her, he said, "My dear wife, your beloved husband is not a weak person. Don’t worry about me..."

"Why do you seem so happy when you talk about hurting others?" Abigail narrowed her eyes, studying him suspiciously.

"Abby, I’m genuinely happy about this. It gives me a reason to teach that guy a lesson if he tries to cause trouble for you or your company..." Sawyer’s smile widened as he guided her toward the elevator.
