Chapter 229: Sharing A Room?

Sawyer leaned in and sealed her lips with a kiss, stopping her mid-sentence.

After the sudden kiss, Abigail pressed her lips together, glaring at him, slightly annoyed that he had stopped her mid-sentence with a kiss.

Before she could express her frustration, Sawyer interrupted her. "Oh, my dear wife, did you forget our promise never to discuss it again?"

A smile appeared on her lips when she heard him say that.

"Oops, sorry, Sawyer. I forgot—" she grinned. They had indeed made an agreement never to mention Serena in their conversations, especially now that she was part of the Philips family. It would be awkward to bring up that matter.

"Alright, we need to go inside. We’ve been sitting here too long, and your hands are getting cold. I feel like I’m holding an ice cube," Sawyer suggested.

"Ooo... Let’s go!"

In the living room,

James and Nathaniel were curious about Sawyer’s wealth. With his expansive beach villa in Orange Town, they could even see a new helicopter parked on the helipad in the distance.

They began to speculate about Sawyer’s connections. He knew affluent individuals like Andy Bennet, who owned A Silverstone Group, and top lawyer Rowan Sterling, who served as a legal advisor to the country’s president.

"Niel, are you sure Sawyer isn’t interested in business? Why does he seem wealthier than his older brother, Harvey?" James asked, prompting Nathaniel to think for a moment.

Nathaniel was also perplexed. He knew Sawyer was a free spirit who had never appeared concerned about their family wealth and status. Although he entered law school, he never became a lawyer or pursued a political career. He even attended a military academy but withdrew for reasons unknown to them.

What intrigued him even more was Sawyer’s refusal to join the J Group simply because he claimed he didn’t like doing business. Walter even mentioned that Sawyer had never accepted any money from them since college.

’Did Sawyer really have a big company we never knew about?’ Nathaniel wondered.

He tried to recall if Sawyer had ever mentioned anything about the company. All he could remember was Sawyer saying he had a small business in Orange Town.

Looking at all the properties, Nathaniel is beginning to suspect that his grandson is hiding something from them. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

He turned his gaze back to James and said, "Sawyer rarely talks about business when we meet. I was just as surprised as you to discover he owns so many properties. The only thing I knew about was his beach house in the capital. Do you remember when we attended their wedding in that upscale area, Garden Hill?"

"Hmmm, of course, I remember. That place has become a hotspot for young, wealthy people. They’re all eager to buy land there, but no one wants to sell. And Sawyer owns a significant piece of land in that area," James said, clearly impressed.

"Maybe he has a successful business that he didn’t mention. Well, whatever his business is, I’m happy for him and Abigail," Nathaniel said with a proud smile.

"True, true. I’m no longer worried; my little Abigail will be safe in Sawyer’s hands. And, Niel, this property is huge and beautiful...shall we also buy a villa in this area?" James asked, admiring the scenery outside the house. He was impressed; even his family didn’t own property in this area.

Nathaniel couldn’t respond to James’ words. He felt too embarrassed, remembering that he had told Sawyer he needed a luxurious place to take Abigail on their honeymoon, and he had asked him to bring Abigail to the Jones’ villa. However, this place was more elegant than the Jones family’s villa.

...

While James and Nathaniel conversed earnestly about business, Martha and Sophie happily chatted in a corner near the wooden stove.

They laughed together, discussing various topics. Despite this being their first meeting, they casually talked like they had known each other for a long time.

"Sister Sophie, you are so pretty. No wonder James has been waiting for you for so many years..." Martha gushed over Sophie’s beauty since their arrival at the villa.

Sophie felt fortunate to see how kind Abigail’s grandma-in-laws were. She no longer worried that what happened to her in the past would happen to her granddaughter again.

Although she had not met Sawyer’s parents, witnessing Martha and Nathaniel’s care for her granddaughter reassured her that they were a kind and wonderful family.

Smiling at Martha, Sophie expressed her happiness: "Sister Martha, you praise me too highly. I’m old and fragile now, and I can’t move as freely as I used to. Honestly, you look so young, too..."

"Hahaha, we are both young, sister."

"Yes, yes! We must be strong and healthy to wait for Abby and Sawyer to have their babies..." Sophie said, holding Martha’s hands as they giggled about their future great-grandchildren.

At the same time, Abigail and Sawyer entered the room and listened to what their grandmas were talking about.

Hearing this, Abigail felt her cheeks blushing. She hadn’t even discussed having babies with Sawyer yet, but her two grandmothers were already plotting for her future child.

Sawyer leaned closer and whispered, "Wife, let’s fulfill their wish. We need to make a baby every night—" He smiled while rubbing the back of his neck when he noticed Abigail glaring at him.

Abigail left him and approached her grandmother, urging her to rest.

She helped Grandma Sophie into a room prepared on the ground floor with a view of the blue sea.

They had initially arranged the room only for Grandma. Still, suddenly, Grandpa Philips insisted he would share a room with Grandma Sophie.

Although Abigail had rejected his idea, Grandpa Philips insisted on his unreasonable excuse: he feared losing his fiancée again.

"Grandpa, can’t you just sleep next door? If Grandma needs your help, she’ll call you." Abigail stared at James helplessly, worried about her grandma’s condition. Besides, it still felt unreal to her that Grandpa and Grandma had decided to legalize their marriage tomorrow.

"It’s fine, honey... I’m okay," Sophie replied shyly, smiling at her granddaughter.

Abigail felt Sawyer squeeze her hand tighter as if signaling for them to leave the room. "Alright, I won’t disturb you both. But remember, we will have dinner at six..."

"We remember..." James answered happily as he closed the door.
