Chapter 185: My Husband is a Hidden Tycoon

Abigail was shocked to hear his words. He was right; no one knew that fact, as the media had always reported that Andy Bennet was the CEO and the company’s owner.

But how could he know? Was it because they were best friends, and that’s why Andy told him?

She couldn’t help but ask, "How did you find out? Did he tell you about it?"

Sawyer smiled when he saw her curious gaze before he answered, "No. It’s because I pay him to run the company."

’Oh my goodness! Does Sawyer own the Silverstone Group? Seriously? Did I hear that wrong?’

Even her goddess-like features couldn’t hide the shock on her face now. Her beautiful cherry lips formed a small ’O.’ She tried to say something, but no words came out; she was too stunned by what he had said.

Looking at her parted lips as if inviting him to kiss her, Sawyer moved closer and gently captured her lips, surprising her. He deepened the kiss when he felt her respond with equal passion.

Before long, when their lips parted, Abigail remembered their conversation and instinctively moved away, worried he might kiss her again. She needed to clarify something to him.

When Sawyer smiled at her, she asked, "You said you pay Andy Bennet to run the Silverstone Group!?"

Though he still craved more kisses from her, he set aside his desires to answer her question, "Yes..."

Abigail swallowed nervously, trying to stop him from rubbing her cheek. She held his hand and continued to ask, "So you heavily invest in the Silverstone Group?"

Wrapping Abigail’s hands in his, he said, "Heavily invest? No. Abby, I didn’t just invest in the Silverstone Group; I founded the company and own it as a whole. Once it was established and running, I handed it to Andy for management and operations."

He continued, "Because Andy manages the company well, I granted him 10% of the shares. However, the remaining shares still belong to me under numerous shell companies. And some shell companies have multi-layer structures, so you can only find my name on the second or third-layer ownership list."

Abigail was utterly shocked, struggling to find her voice. Her mind raced as she tried to process the magnitude of Silverstone Group’s success.

She remembered reading the latest financial report, which revealed that the Silverstone Group had surpassed the Jones family business five years ago. They had held the top position for five consecutive years. Now, Sawyer was claiming the company as his own.

’Did I win the jackpot? Am I married to the wealthiest man in the country?’ Abigail couldn’t help but feel amused at her own thoughts. She already knew Sawyer was wealthy and an investor, but she had never imagined that he owned the Silverstone Group.

"Heaven! My future husband is a real hidden tycoon..." Abigail whispered to herself, just loud enough for Sawyer to hear, which made him chuckle softly.

"Indeed! Your husband is a genuine hidden tycoon!" He felt a surge of happiness that Abigail didn’t seem upset by this revelation.

Sawyer had been worried that Abigail might feel uncomfortable if she discovered he owned the Silverstone Group, but her calm reaction reassured him.

He was hesitant to tell anyone else about it, especially his family. None of his relatives knew of his ownership, and only a handful of trusted people knew he was the valid owner of the Silverstone Group.

...

Before long, Abigail was no longer shocked after hearing Sawyer’s surprising confession.

"Sawyer, I never read that you own the company. I mean, why do you hide it?" she asked.

"Because I don’t want my family to know about it. And, as I’ve told you before, I don’t like working behind a desk. I just enjoy my carefree life and being out in nature..."

Abigail nodded slightly, remembering the first time they visited his cabin when he shared his hobby with her.

"I have enough money to hire professionals to run my company. The most important thing is that if my stupid brother, Harvey, knew I owned Silverstone Group, he would probably send assassins after me because he is so jealous."

Abigail "..."

"Can you stop jinxing yourself? You’re watching too many movies, Sawyer. You know there are no assassins out there, right?"

"My darling Abby, I’m just trying to humor you..." Sawyer laughed as Abigail lightly punched his chest while narrowing her eyes on him. "Alright, I promise I will never repeat those words..."

When Sawyer saw her say nothing, he gently placed his hand on her waist and slowly pulled her to sit on his lap, her back resting against his chest. He wrapped his arms around her waist, hugging her from behind.

He rested his head on her neck, feeling her warmth and inhaling her captivating fragrance.

Abigail giggled at their intimacy but didn’t resist; instead, she tilted her head to meet his gaze.

When their eyes met, Sawyer smiled and continued, "However, one thing is for sure: if my father finds out that I own Silverstone Group, he will drag me back to J Group and ask me to take over the CEO position from my poor brother, Harvey."

Abigail laughed, imagining how Harvey Jones would react, and she could see that coming; he might end up in the emergency room for a heart attack.

A moment later, Abigail remembered Andy Bennet’s fate. She released herself from Sawyer’s embrace and returned to her seat beside him.

She swallowed to moisten her suddenly dry throat before revealing the truth to him. "Sawyer, you know that Andy likes me, right? He confessed to me..."

Sawyer didn’t answer, but his expression darkened as if a fire had ignited in his eyes, reminding him of his conversation with Andy.

"How is Andy Bennet’s fate? Are you going to fire him?" Abigail started to worry that Andy might lose his job.

"If he gives up his plan to pursue you, I won’t kick him out of the company. However, if he stubbornly insists, I will take everything he has now, even if he is my best friend..." Sawyer’s expression sharpened, revealing his genuine feelings.

"I can’t interfere with your decision about him, but I hope you won’t be too hard on him. He has always been kind to me and helped me when I sought revenge on my cruel ex-fiancé..."

"I will listen to my little wife; whatever she asks for, I will follow," Sawyer said with a smile as he played with her hair.

Abigail felt her cheeks flush with warmth upon hearing his sweet words.
