Chapter 184: You’ve Aged Me By a Decade!

When they stopped at a red light, he turned to her and asked, "Why do you think he would trouble me?"

"You know he is the CEO of the number one company in the country, right?"

"Yeah, Sure. I surely know that."

"Well, I’m afraid he might cause trouble for your business in the future because I rejected him earlier when he..." Abigail felt uneasy about finishing her sentence, worrying he might become jealous or angry.

She said nothing more and looked back at the road, trying to find the right words to explain that Andy could potentially harm him.

Sawyer secretly smiled, noticing how distressed she was. He could guess what she was about to say. "Abby, my dear, what are you trying to say?" he asked.

Abigail turned her gaze to him.

"Sawyer, please be careful of Andy Bennet. He is your friend and has always been kind to me, but we can never know his true intentions."

"I see. Thank you for your concern, Abby."

Abigail smiled as she looked at the street ahead, but her smile vanished a moment later when she remembered something. She turned her gaze back to him.

"I have two contracts with Andy Bennet. But, if you ask me to stop seeing him, I will honor your request and end my contract with him." Abigail stated. She didn’t want Sawyer to feel jealous of Andy and thought it best to avoid meeting him in the future.

Sawyer was surprised to hear that. He smiled at her and said, "Abby, you don’t have to end the contract with him."

Abigail was taken aback, looking at his calm expression. "Are you sure?" she asked.

"Yes," Sawyer confirmed immediately.

Even though Abigail was still worried, she decided to stop discussing the matter.

Not long after, they parked in the basement car park.

However, before Abigail could step out, Sawyer gently touched her hand. She turned to him and asked, "What happened, Sawyer?"

"Abby, as I mentioned earlier, you don’t have to worry about Andy Bennet. He will not dare to harm me or anyone I care or love. Trust me," Sawyer tried to ease her concern. He could sense that her worry lingered in her gaze.

Seeing the calmness in his gaze, a smile slowly appeared on her lips. "I know he won’t be able to. I was being silly earlier—worrying too much and forgetting your family name."

She chuckled softly before continuing, "Even though Andy Bennet is the CEO of a large company like Silverstone Group, he can’t easily touch you, right? After all, you are part of the Jones family..."

Sawyer lifted his hand, cupping her face in his palm, and leaned in to kiss her. After their tender and passionate kiss, she felt his warm breath on her face as they remained close.

They both smiled at each other, but when Abigail leaned in to kiss him again, Sawyer pulled his head away and opened the car door. A hint of disappointment crossed her features—she felt foolish for attempting to kiss him without him noticing.

"Abby, let’s go upstairs. There’s something important I need to tell you," he said, stepping out of the car and opening the door for her.

"Is there something important? Why didn’t you say it now?" she asked, her curiosity piqued as she stepped out of the car.

"This is something we can’t discuss here. We need to talk upstairs," he replied ambiguously, which only heightened Abigail’s curiosity.

Without asking further questions, she hurried to follow him to the elevator.

While sitting beside Sawyer in her living room, Abigail could sense the tension in his gaze. After a while, though, he still hadn’t said anything, which made her even more anxious.

With Sawyer maintaining the same expression, a few seconds later, an idea popped into her head.

"Are you trying to say that you’ll go back to your first love?" Abigail asked casually, without even a hint of upset or anger. However, her question made Sawyer feel like his soul had jumped out of his body, and for a second, all that was left was an empty vessel.

"W-What? How could you ask something like that?" His apparent panicked tone nearly sent Abigail’s heart racing, as she feared he might consider it. "NO! No. Of course not! And I begged you, please, don’t ever bring something like that into our conversation again, Abby!"

Seeing Sawyer’s genuine worry and restless expression relieved Abigail and made her chuckle inwardly—after several minutes of silence, she had successfully prompted him to speak.

"I’m Sorry, Sawyer. I didn’t mean to ask that question. I just wanted to test your reaction," she replied.

Sawyer was at a loss for words. "Abby, please don’t joke like that again. You’ve aged me by a decade!"

"Hmm, I promise," Abigail said with a cute grin, making a V sign with her fingers to emphasize her promise. "Okay, now you can start talking. Don’t keep me waiting. I’m afraid I’ll ask you more weird questions and give you another scare, Mr. Jones!"

Sawyer squeezed her tiny hand lovingly as their eyes locked.

"I hope you remember that tomorrow we will register our marriage," Sawyer said, pausing briefly when he noticed her cheeks flush pink. He squeezed her hand again, hoping to send a thrill through her heart. "But before that, I must be honest about something..."

Abigail, shyly hiding her blush, stiffened at his words. She lifted her head and looked into his eyes, only to find it tensed.

"Abby, earlier, I mentioned that you don’t need to worry about Andy Bennet..."

She frowned and nodded, trying to understand.

’Why is he bringing this up again?’ Abigail wondered. She struggled to hold back her questions, her mind racing with guesses about the secret he was about to reveal.

Sawyer continued speaking as he noticed her beautiful eyebrow raise slightly, "People know that he is powerful because he is the company’s CEO. However, many don’t realize that he only receives a salary from Silverstone Group. He is not the owner of the company."

Abigail was shocked to hear his words.
