Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 186: This Person is Related To You!
Chapter 186: This Person is Related To You!
In the evening, Abigail and Sawyer initially planned to stay in the house and spend the night together before their big day tomorrow.
However, just before the sunset on the horizon, Sawyer suddenly suggested they go out. He only told her they would have dinner at a fancy restaurant and asked her to wear a beautiful dress.
Abigail asked Sawyer several times where he would take her for this impromptu dinner. Still, after they left the house, he remained silent. He seemed mysterious, as if about to reveal a big surprise.
Noticing how tense Sawyer had been since they left the house, he sat quietly in his seat, staring out the window as if lost in thought. This only added to her curiosity.
She placed her hand gently on his shoulder to get his attention.
"Sawyer..." she called softly.
"Yes?" He turned to look at her, taking one of her hands and placing it on his lap. "What is it, dear? You seem bothered by something..."
She rolled her eyes at his words. "Come on, you already know what it is, yet remain silent. If you want to surprise me in public, you should really stop. You remember I don’t like surprises, right?"
He smiled and nodded in response.
Abigail felt relieved to see him acknowledge her, but he still hadn’t revealed their dinner destination.
"Can you just tell me where we’re going?" she pleaded, glancing outside the car, trying to determine their destination.
Sawyer didn’t rush to answer her question. Instead, he asked Vincent, sitting beside the driver, to lift the car partition.
Abigail noticed the partition was up, isolating them from the driver and Vincent. Her heartbeat quickened as she remembered that Sawyer often tried to initiate romantic moments in the car whenever the partition was raised.
’Did he really want to do that, or is it just my imagination?’ Abigail chuckled to herself, shaking her head to dismiss her sultry thoughts.
She shifted her gaze outside to enjoy the scenery, but not long after, Sawyer finally spoke.
"Abby, it’s not just the two of us having dinner tonight; someone will be joining us," he said, surprising her.
She turned to him and asked, "Who is this someone?"
"You’ll find out when we arrive."
"Can you please tell me who it is now? I need to prepare myself. You know I hate surprises. I’m worried I might faint if I’m too shocked by meeting that person." She tried to lighten the mood, hoping he’d share the identity of their dinner guest.
He laughed at her words but remained tight-lipped about where they were going or who they would meet.
Frustrated, Abigail scolded him in her mind for being so secretive. She decided not to press him further, knowing he wouldn’t reveal anything.
However, her mind was still racing with guesses about who would accompany them for dinner. The only two people who came to mind were his parents, and the thought of meeting them made her heart race with anxiety.
...
Before long, the car finally stopped at a private restaurant, a place Abigail had never visited before.
Even the area was unfamiliar to her. She only knew it was where the wealthiest among the wealthy people in the capital resided, not far from Sawyer’s grandfather’s house.
A man in a suit greeted them and quickly led them to the back garden, heading toward a small pavilion after hearing Sawyer’s name.
Abigail tightened her grip on Sawyer’s hand. The tension in her heart grew as she prepared to meet his parents. Countless questions swirled in her mind, one of which troubled her: ’What if they don’t like me?’
It was as if Sawyer sensed her anxiety. He smiled gently at her and said, "Relax, dear. This person won’t bite." He casually says, hoping to ease her worries.
When he noticed she didn’t smile, Sawyer touched and slightly stroked her back to soothe her nervousness. He wondered whether he should tell her now or let her meet the person first. He was puzzled.
Abigail tried to appear calm, but her awkward smile failed to conceal her nerves.
"Sawyer, are we meeting your parents here?" she finally asked, voicing her thoughts.
Sawyer paused before the door, hesitating to answer her. He asked the restaurant staff to leave them before turning back to her. "No, we’re not meeting my parents. But this person might be related to you..."
"Related to me?" Abigail repeated in confusion, growing even more anxious. "Wh-who?" she stammered, tightening her grip on Sawyer’s hand.
Deciding not to leave her in suspense any longer, Sawyer knocked on the door.
When a man’s voice from inside called for them to enter, Abigail frowned. ’Why does that voice sound familiar?’ she wondered as she followed Sawyer inside.
How surprised Abigail was to see the older man in the room, now standing up from his chair, smiling widely while his gaze focused solely on her.
Meeting this person here only deepened her curiosity.
’James Philips? Why are we having dinner with Serena’s grandfather? Will she be joining us, too?’ Her mind was overwhelmed with countless questions, adding to her confusion and making her feel lost in her thoughts.
She didn’t even realize that Sawyer had called her several times; she simply stood in place, staring intently at James Philips.
When Sawyer’s hand touched her cheek, she flinched and broke her gaze with James, looking at him.
"Sa—Sawyer... Are we in the wrong room?" she only wanted to make sure they weren’t supposed to have dinner with this man.
However, Sawyer’s response shocked her. He shook his head and said, "Abby, we are in the right room. Tonight, we will have dinner with Grandpa Philips. He is—"
Sawyer couldn’t finish his sentence because James spoke from behind them.
"Abigail, I would like to reintroduce myself to you properly," James said as he approached the girl who looked just like his lost fiancée, Sophie.
Although he hadn’t yet heard confirmation from Sophie that Abigail was their granddaughter, his heart was convinced that his blood flowed within her.
