Chapter 315: Important

Hearing kyrell’s conviction-filled words made the Eagle tribesmen bewildered. The elders glanced at each other with pale faces while the witch masters started to panic. After what felt like an eternity, the witch master that had been treating Lyra opened his mouth, "Your majesty, aren’t you already mated?"

That was it. That was the question that swirled in the minds of everyone present but no one had courage to ask. Some of them were glad that at least someone asked what was important. King Kyrell already had a mate. Queen Alice was his mate or that was what they believed till now.

"What are you talking about?" Like everyone else, Kyrell had a confused look on his face but his reason differed from the others. His tribesmen waited with bated breath which made Kyrell answer, "I think you are mistaken, I have not yet marked, Lyra"

"Not queen Lyra, your Majesty" a frustrated Elder from the crowd stepped forward. He had enough of talking in circles, "It’s about, Lady Alice"

"What about her?" Kyrell still didn’t get it. Why were they getting so worked up? And what is this about Alice? But he was definitely not ready for what he heard next. It left him completely speechless.

"Aren’t you mated to Lady Alice, Your Majesty?" as soon as those words were told, Kyrell became blank. He took a good minute to comprehend what he just heard. Then he questioned himself thinking he had heard something wrong. It was a possibility. With thoughts all over the place, it was feasible to have lost his mind.

"What?" then an amused laugh left his mouth as he looked at his tribesmen, "Who....told you that?"

The tribesmen were baffled, "The entire tribe knows about it, Your Majesty. Lady Alice herself told us that you two mated with each other"

Kyrell’s face fell. He glared at the one that talked, "What nonsense are you spouting right now!? Why would I mate with Alice? Are you out of your mind?" He couldn’t understand what the hell was going on inside his tribe. For the past few weeks, he had been busy with matters regarding Lyra and Nathan going missing. He had no time to attend anything else. That felt like the biggest mistake now.

"You...." he called one of the elders, "Explain to me, what really occurred during my absence? Don’t leave out anything, I will rip your head out if you speak lies"

The elder flinched in his place as he faced his king. He knew better than to further provoke the King. Even though he was close to Edgar, he knew that not speaking the truth now would result in his death. Fuck friendship. His life mattered more to him.

So he started explaining, "As soon as you took abed, Lady Alice proclaimed herself the Queen and took control of the inner as well as outer matters regarding the tribe. When Queen Lyra requested a visit, lady Alice drove her away. As the former’ mates attacked you, we came to hate the Queen and didn’t question further about it"

Kyrell’s face darkened as the elder continued, "Between them, it was more like a fight. Lady Alice insulted Queen Lyra by accusing her of trying to snatch you.....her supposed mate which is false according to what you claim"

"I never mated with Alice," Kyrell said clearly and loudly. He cast his sharp gaze on everyone present, "That female...I have never touched her"

"So what were all of you doing while this was happening?" his bloodlust involuntarily leaked out making everyone around descend to their knees. His glare sent shivers down their spines while all they could do was keep their heads down, lest they lose it, "That bitch insulted my woman and all of you let it pass?"

"We-we were helpless, Your Majesty!" screamed someone from the crowd having difficulty breathing due to the immortal beastman’s aura he was experiencing, "Lady Alice lied to us, she refused to let us meet you. She imprisoned Commander Nathan. Everyone that spoke against her was either killed or thrown into dungeons"

Kyrell clenched his fists hearing that, "What happend to Nate? Did she kill him?" He swore if something like that really did happened, Alice would face the worst fate ever.

"We don’t know, your majesty. The only thing we heard was that Commander Nate escaped from the dungeon a few days ago, we did not confirm anything" That was better news, it was not confirmed that Nate was dead. Kyrell felt himself relaxing hearing that.

As he calmed down, his bloodlust too went down. Kyrell looked at Lyra’s face, his fingertips caressed the back of her hand before he clasped it. Bringing her hand near his face, he pressed his lips onto it and closed his eyes, "I’m sorry, Love" He had misunderstood her. He had thought...that she had abandoned him, "You came for me" She had come to meet him, disregarding her other mates’ complaints, she came to him and yet he failed her. His tribe failed her.

"The reason I took this tribe in the first place was because of her," He said looking at his tribesmen, "I wanted to be worthy of her. This I the last chance for all of you" They straightened as he added, "My mate, your Queen comes before me. You should treat her with respect even if I’m not present. She takes precedence over me"

"Drill this fact into all your heads and never forget"

"Yes, Your Majesty," the crowd said in unison while bowing their heads.

Kyrell sighed before closing and opening his eyes. His ruby-like eyes clouded with rage as he ordered, "Guards?"

"Your majesty?"

"Imprison, Alice and all her accomplices" his voice echoed, "Every last of her kin.....round them up and put them in dungeons. Where is Elder Edgar?"

He scanned the crowd and frowned when he didn’t find Edgar, "Go find him, don’t let anyone escape" it was not like they could cross his barrier without alerting him. All they could do was hide themselves inside the tribe’s territory.

"Yes, Your Majesty!" The guards bowed before leaving to carry out the given instructions.

After the guards left, Kyrell turned his attention to the witch masters and the elders present, "Has anyone here been on Alice’s side?"

"No, Your Majesty" the answers came quickly and was filled with fear.

Kyrell nodded, "I sure hope not, or you will pay for it very dearly"
