Beauty in the beast world-Chapter 309: The return
Chapter 309: The return
Victor left Lyra speechless. His conviction-filled words had her feeling tired. Yes, she felt tired about all of this. Before coming here, she was just a normal girl living her very normal life. She had never been in a relationship before this. A puppy one-sided love yes but not a full-fledged relationship. Everything she had learned about a relationship was from her parents back home. The latter loved and respected each other and whenever a fight occurred, they talked about it instead of ignoring one another.
This is what prompted Lyra to always talk with her mates about their worries, life, and her. No matter the circumstance, her first response had always been to talk to her mates and clear things up before the matters could fester up and become something untreatable. However, she realized that her patience too came with its own limits. Getting kidnapped by her mates in the initial stage and then getting betrayed by Kyrell. She went through too much.
Lyra wanted to understand. She tried her best to do so but Victor’s stubborn words made her upset. He kept on with his ramblings not stopping to see how she was feeling, "We will always love you more, Sweet girl. This is a fact that cannot be changed. I know about your world a little and the kind of relationship that happens there but the former will never happen here. Males here vastly differ from the males in your world"
She already knew that. It was not new. Males here were very different from men back on Earth and that was something she had made peace with very early on. Here males could capture the female as long as he was powerful. Although the ultimate decision to stay in a relationship was that of a woman’ it did not change that power meant everything here. And once the women are marked, that initial power of males completely shifts to them. Males have no authority whatsoever. The former can cancel a spousal relationship and no one will bat an eye although it is akin to a death sentence to their male counterparts. This power imbalance gave birth to stray beastmen and added, rootless beastmen.
"I love you guys a lot" Lyra decided to speak her mind although she was not sure if this would reach her mate, "You are very precious to me, I don’t like seeing you hurt yourself because of me. It aches me to..... see you like this. I know I cannot change the norms practiced here, but I hope you try. Please try to be kind to yourself"
Victor blinked before parting his lips, "If it is for you, then I can try"
A sad smile graced her lips hearing her mate’s words, "Alright" that was all she could say. This was enough for now. She wanted him to prioritize himself and he agreed. Although his complacency was to please her, it was worth having this talk with him nonetheless. A win is a win.
She ran her thumb across his lips as she said, "It is a promise then, you should strive to live more for yourself for me I guess?"
"Yes for you, I can do anything" Victor readily agreed, and as a result received a kiss on his lips. His mate pressed herself against him by sitting on his thighs. He very quickly maneuvered her body by capturing it in his embrace while one of his hands reached under her skirt settling on her center. With efficiency, he moved her panties aside before sinking two of his fingers inside her wet folds.
"Ah!" A squelching sound resounded inside the room as Victor kept on digging into his mate’s pussy trying to find her pleasure point. When he did, Lyra was left a moaning mess as she hugged his neck trying to find support. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head as she neared orgasm. She bit her lips in anticipation until it got interrupted by a loud sound coming from the outside.
The couple were startled to hear a loud bang followed by a noise of commotion beyond the closed door of their room.
"What was that?" Lyra asked getting up and putting her skirt down. She pushed her messy hair into a bun while trying to hear more, "Is someone fighting?"
"It seems so" Victor answered as he walked towards the door. Then he strode out trying to find out what was happening.
Lyra waited calmly until the calm came crashing down as Victor rushed back inside the room wearing a panicked look on his face. His jaw was clenched and his eyes turned fierce.
"Victor?" Lyra stepped towards him with a frown. He looked angry.
Victor breathed out and his eyes softened hearing his mate’s voice. He reached his mate and held her hand, "Listen to me, sweet girl. No matter what happens, you shouldn’t leave this room. Promise me"
"Why?" Lyra grew worried, "Why...what happend?" He looked distraught and more than that full of anger. She wanted to know more before making any decision.
Victor took a deep breath before announcing, "It seems like the tribe is under attack"
Her eyes went wide, "A-Attack? Who?" then panic started to set in, "Babies! The cubs are outside, Victor. I have to find them!" With that, she started to rush toward the door until she was forcibly stopped by her mate.
"What are you doing!?" Lyra shouted in anger, "Let me go, I have to find them!" Her snake babies were very intelligent and most of the time stayed either with Peter or their father. But her cubs were far too curious to stay put in a place. They liked to roam around without having a company.
"You mustn’t, Sweet girl! Please... it’s dangerous out there" When Victor didn’t relent, her anger-filled words turned to pleading.
"Please....."Lyra had tears dripping down her face,"Victor, Please let me go"
Victor’s heart ached for his mate. But letting her leave in this perilous situation was not an option he would ever consider. Instead, he made a choice, "Alright, I will go and find them so you wait here"
"But....."
"This is the only way" He gave no room for argument, "I will go, and YOU will stay here until I return" he emphasized his wording, "Do not leave this room no matter what" He searched his mate’s face for affirmation from her while asking, "Got it?"
Lyra nodded meekly, "Yes"
"Good" Victor gave a brief peck on his mate’s forehead before rushing out of the room for the second time.
As soon as he left, Lyra felt the strength leave her body as she slumped back into the bed. She bounced her knees nervously and kept her gaze on the door praying that her mates and babies stay safe.
’Who attacked the tribe?’ this question ran rampantly in his mind. The lion tribe was busy with the coronation matters and was relaxed. Moreover, they wre still mourning for their late king. Maybe that was what made someone attack them? Did somebody think this was an appropriate time to attack the lion tribe? In their most delicate period?
Then she started to worry about her mates. If the enemy attacked knowing that immortal beastmen resided here, then they would be formidable. Who was this? She kept on trying to figure things out but froze when she heard a weird sound.
Her eyes shakingly turned towards the source of the sound. The small noise became louder and louder as time passed. Then Lyra observed cracks forming on the stone wall she faced which made her retreat towards the door. She made herself smaller and attached herself to the exit. She was torn between the idea of fleeing and remaining inside the room as her mate said. While she stood contemplating, another loud noise like no other was heard. A scream left her mouth as one of the walls burst open.
The stones from the impact were sent all over and some small ones managed to hit injuring her. Lyra winced in pain and succumbed to the floor having no strength. She could feel it. Someone entered through the broken wall.
She had no courage to see who it was but, nonetheless she made sure to manifest her powers ready to attack whoever it was. Her clenched hand with blue light vanished when she heard the intruder’s voice.
"Found you, Lyra"
Lyra slowly looked up just to make sure she had not heard wrong. And like a cruel fate, her ears didn’t lie this time. He stood there just like she remembered him. Regal, ever so beautiful, and now hateful.
Kyrell’s eyes filled with unshed tears as he made his way to Lyra, "Why did you do it?" there was so much sadness as well as suppressed anger in his voice making her flinch.
And when he reached her, his hand cradled her face like he was holding something precious but soon that turned into a tight grip. He ground his teeth and bore his eyes on her face while asking, "Why did you abandon me, Lyra?"
