Beauty in the beast world-Chapter 246: The lesson

The gates of the eagle tribe closed with a thud as soon as Lyra and Noah entered inside. Eagle guards or the beastmen around didn’t show them any regard as they blatantly glared at the duo with accusing eyes. Lyra walked hand in hand with her mate trying not to care about her surroundings but it was becoming impossible as time passed. She could only imagine how hurt Kyrell must have been for his tribesmen to react like this. She just hoped for him to be okay. That was all she asked for.

After walking for a few more minutes, they finally reached the eagle castle. And the hostility shown by the beastmen outside the castle was nothing compared to the ones inside.

"Stop right there!" a booming voice stopped them from moving further. Noah stepped in front of his mate as the one that shouted at them stood before them and said, "You are not allowed to go any further than this’’

"But we are here to meet, King Kyrell’’ reasoned Noah which received him nothing but a scowl in return.

"We are not allowing you anywhere near our king" There was disdain in his voice when he said those words, "Especially not that selfish female who is responsible for our king’s current condition"

"What did you just say!?’’ Noah growled when that man finished his words. He was ready to tear the one that disrespected his mate into pieces until his mate stopped him from doing so. She tightly held onto his arm before shaking her head, "Please don’t"

Noah frowned, "Baby dove they....."

"Please..." Lyra pleaded halting his words. She was worried for her mate. He was all alone here with hostile ones surrounding them. They probably wouldn’t attack the Prince of the Lion tribe recklessly but there was no guarantee for the things to turn out as she wanted. And the next reason for stopping him was that she was scared. She so badly wanted to see Kyrell and was scared to not be allowed to do that if Noah caused a commotion.

Noah clenched his fists and breathed in making sure to keep his anger in check. He didn’t like this one bit. How anything in this was his mate’s fault? She was not the one that harmed Kyrell. Yes, it was her mates that did it but she did nothing to enable that. It was not like she ordered her mates to beat Kyrell up. And that Kyrell! Where the hell was that bastard leaving his beloved here amidst his disrespecting subordinates?

His thoughts didn’t last long because soon he heard unfamiliar footsteps coming near them.

"Who do we have here?’’ a female’s voice caught both Lyra’s and Noah’s attention, "Isn’t this the wench that harmed my beloved?’’

Mahogany-colored hair with sharp eyes. The woman looked straight at Lyra before adding, "I see that you are quite a beauty. No wonder you managed to seduce those powerful men. Just like a slut would do"

"Hold your tongue, Female!’’ Exclaimed Noah. He was seething but the woman didn’t seem to mind him as she continued with her insults.

"Was it fun little slut? Swaying your wanton body and taking advantage of Kyell?’’ then she laughed cynically, "It must have been. I have heard that sluts like you enjoy doing that"

That was the last snap in Noah’s patience. He stepped towards the female that dared to talk ill of his mate but failed when some of the eagle guards took hold of Noah before dragging him to the side.

"Noah!" Lyra shouted and then glared at the guards holding him captive, "Unhand him now! You are making a big mistake. He is the prince of the lion tribe’’ The guards flinched at her notions because as normal beastmen, hurting the royalty was an offense and much so due to the Lion tribe wielding most of the power in the beast city. And more importantly, males were weaker in front of the fairer sex. They didn’t like the idea of getting on the bad side of a beautiful female such as Lyra.

However, they had an obligation and an oath to protect their king. So Lyra and Noah likewise became their enemies for having a hand in hurting the king. Hence they refused to budge from their places while holding the lion prince from moving.

Lyra felt stressed. No matter what she said, nobody here was listening to her words. For her who always got whatever she wished for from her mates felt like crying now. She realized that she was nothing without her mates in this unfamiliar world. Lyra knew that but she refused to acknowledge that and turned to the woman that talked only harsh words.

"Ask them to leave my mate’’

"And what if I don’t agree with that?’’ asked Alice with a smug look on her face, "You can do nothing but beg......wait!’’ she suddenly turned excited, "Why don’t you do that? Kneel before me and Beg. I will release your mate if you do that’’

’’What?’’

"Want me to repeat?’’ asked Alice mockingly, "Kneel’’ she said while pointing towards the ground.

Lyra bit her lower lip before taking a glance at her mate, "Don’t do it, Baby dove. I beg of you.....’’ Noah said as he tried to break free from the ones holding him to no avail. He was no match for Five to six beastmen working together. That made him ashamed of himself. If Blake was here in his situation then nothing of this sort would have occurred. No one would have dared to even lay a hand on him or insult their mate.

"Aren’t you going to do it?’’ Asked Alice bringing Lyra’s attention back to her.

"No," Lyra said making it clear that she wouldn’t do it.

’’No?’’ chuckled Alice, "So, your pride means more to you than your mate. No wonder you abandoned Kyrell’’

"I did not abandon him!’’ Lyra said through her gritted teeth, "And who the hell are you to ask me all this?’’

Alice smirked, "Me?’’ then she glanced at Noah, "I think your mate figured out my identity, ask him’’

’’Or should I say it with my own mouth" said Alice. She walked right towards Lyra before facing her, "I’m the queen of the eagle tribe. Spouse of King Kyrell’’ then she stretched her left arm for Lyra to see an eagle mating mark, "This is my proof’’

Lyra’s eyes went wide in shock. Tear-eyed, she looked at Noah for confirmation and heard him say, ’’I can smell him on her’’

Those words from her mate broke Lyra’s heart into pieces. She had a hard time wrapping up her mind to the information that she just heard. Kyrell mated with another female. How could he do that to her? Was she nothing to him at all? Then what happened to all the love he showed for her? What about those promises he made and dreams he had for their future?

"I don’t believe it’’ Lyra mumbled to herself, "Kyrell...I want to see him’’ Saying that, she tried to walk past Alice to only be stopped by the latter.

Alice roughly held Lyra’s arm before shoving her. The latter stumbled but somehow managed to stay on her feet. Lyra had too many things running inside her mind and tried to once to go to Kyrell.

’Slap’ Lyra felt her ears ring and cheeks sting. She held onto her left cheek as she heard, "Come back to your senses. How dare you talk about Kyrell when his mate is standing right here?’’

Lyra let her hand go revealing her red bruising cheek and glared at Alice, "And what the hell should I do to you when you are also holding my mate captive? Leave my mate and I will peacefully walk out of here or else.....’’

’’Or else what?’’

Lyra clenched her fists and glared at the ones holding Noah. And when she opened her clenched palm, glowing blue light started to appear which shot the guards.

"Ahh!’’ they shouted when excruciating pain hit them and let Noah go.

Alice widened her eyes and turned back to Lyra while shouting, "You....What did you.....?’’ ’Slap’ her words came to a halt and her head turned to the side when she felt a crisp slap on her cheek.

"I mean no harm to you. I never intended to hit you’’ Lyra said her eyes sharp, ’’But who do you think you are? How dare you hit me, a Queen of several tribes? Do you think my mates will let this go? That Kyrell or whatever’’ she said dismissively, "Tell him that he is dead to me’’

Then she walked towards her mate and checked for any possible injuries and stopped only when she found none, "Let’s go. I’m sorry for bringing you here’’

’’It’s not your fault’’ Noah’s heart ached as he touched her injured cheek. And that made him look at Alice, "Your entire tribe will have to answer the Lion tribe for the disrespect you people have shown me and my mate today. I’m holding myself back and will leave silently for now because you are a female and I’m not someone that hits a female. However, I will warn you. Not all of us are alike’’

With those final words, Noah and Lyra exited the eagle castle and soon left the eagle tribe.
