Beauty in the beast world-Chapter 247: Muffled sobs
Chapter 247: Muffled sobs
Lyra and Noah stepped out of the Eagle tribe just like how they had entered. Hand in hand. All along their way, Noah had a hard time seeing his mate as she tried to her keep face straight and devoid of emotion. He could see that she was feeling sad and could also see her masking those emotions with a stoic expression. His heart hurt seeing her like this. Maybe, he would have felt a little relaxed if she shouted and cried. This silence of hers was more excruciating than anything else.
And when they were about to reach Blake, Noah saw his mate trying to cover her bruised face with a scarf.
"Lilly!" Blake’s eyes sparkled when he caught sight of his mate. He rushed towards her with the snake guards behind him. With just a few steps, he reached her.
Lyra anxiously covered her maimed cheek and tried to put on a smile but to no avail. How could she dare smile after everything that happened? But on the other side, she wanted to let this matter go. Kyrell betrayed her and that was the end of it. She didn’t want to create unnecessary drama by dragging all of her mates into this. They were not some normal men that could go into a fight without thinking priorly but instead were Kings of their individual tribes. Kings fighting another king just because the latter abandoned their mate felt wrong. More than that, not all of the eagle beastmen were evil. They were behaving like this due to their king getting injured by her mates.
She just wanted to take Kyrell’s betrayal as her punishment and let this slide. However, she knew that this was not something easy to do. Not when Blake was already moving her scarf to reveal her reddened cheek. Her mates always liked it when she blushed for them but this was nothing like that. When she exited the Eagle palace, she briefly glanced at a pond nearby to only find a clear fingers mark on her face. It was so glaring that she got scared for a second.
"Who did this?’’ A grim voice reached her ears making her look up. She felt him holding her chin up before he caressed her cheek making her hiss in pain. Blake’s face scrunched up in displeasure. He had never before wished for him to have healing powers like Killian’s until now. All he could do for his mate was hope that his cold skin would somehow reduce her pain. He continued to gently caress her face even when she protested and soon Lyra got used to it. She also leaned against his cool palm before hearing, "I’m asking you again, Lilly. Who did this to you"
Lyra glanced up at him feeling troubled, "Blake, let’s just leave from here. I’ll explain everything when we reach home"
But Blake turned deaf to her words and turned toward Noah, "Tell me, Who the fuck did this!?’’ Noah took a glance at his mate and pursed his lips when she shook her head.
Lyra frowned at Blake’s harsh tone and tried to call him, "Blake....." But her lips stopped moving when he glared at her. Then his glare shifted toward the eagle tribe. His eyes started to flicker into slits and black scales started to appear on some parts of his face. He removed his palm from his mate’s face before taking a threatening step toward the tribe.
"Blake, stop!’’ Lyra yelled and when he kept on moving, she hugged him from behind making him halt.
Noah’s eyes went wide upon seeing this, "Baby dove, let him go" he rushed towards them and tried to pull her back to no avail, "It can turn dangerous for you!’’
Lyra shook her head refusing to budge, "Blake will never hurt me" The snake guards felt cold sweat on their backs seeing the situation between their King and Queen. They got into positions to stop their king if something worse happens.
’’Blake! Don’t shift. Come to your senses!’’ Noah tried to warn Blake instead of his stubborn mate who did not listen to him. It was like a suicide staying near an immortal beastman when he is about to shift due to bloodlust. He hoped at least Blake heard him.
And it seemed like he did. Blake turned back and hugged his mate, "Lilly?’’
"Let us go back, Blake" cried Lyra, "I don’t want to stay in this place any longer. Why don’t you understand?’’ it was suffocating for her to stand in this place where that betrayer resided. She wanted to go back to her house as soon as possible. But why.....Why weren’t her mates understanding this? This slap that she had on her cheeks felt nothing compared to the hurt she was feeling in her heart.
Lyra pulled away from him and begged as tears brimmed in her eyes, "I want to go back. Take me to our real home"
’’Real home?’’
She nodded, "I want to go to the Rose castle’’
"Then let’s go’’ agreed Blake and picked her up from the ground. The scales on his face started to slowly disappear but the glint in his eyes never left. Before moving, he took a glance at the eagle tribe with his jaws clenched. Whoever did this to his mate will pay. He would make sure of it.
Then he briefly closed his eyes before opening them and started to move from that place. It took some time for him to reach the rose castle and when he did, something felt amiss to him. Lyra jumped down from his embrace before rushing inside their home. Due to the harsh winter, all of the beautiful roses in their garden were withered and completely covered in snow.
Lyra’s face fell due to this. She missed seeing her garden. This was the place she spent most of her time in. Tending to the lovely flowers brought her so much peace. Maybe it had to do with her being a fairy. She had once before heard from Darya about Fairies loving nature. After gazing at her empty snowy garden for a long time, she moved towards the castle’s door. She turned back and gave her mates a sheepish smile wanting them to help her in opening the door. Her house door was so huge and very difficult for her to move but...."Ah!’’
Lyra had just put her palm on the door but did not expect it open so easily. She would have almost fell face first if not for Blake holding her from behind.
’’Oh my, that scared me" she muttered while patting her racing heart, ’’How did it open so easily?’’
Blake frowned and looked at Noah, "Who was the last to leave the house?’’
"Killian I guess" Noah answered not very sure about it. Only Killian was absent during the banquet in which their mate went missing after all.
"He must have forgotten to close it properly" Lyra commented but both Blake and Noah found that not likely to have happened. Killian was not someone to do that. He was vigilant about his territory and more so as their mate stayed here. He wouldn’t have wanted for a random beastman to come up here where their mate’s scent lingered.
"I’m going up" Lyra exclaimed and ran inside the house and quickly climbed up the stairs reaching her room.
"Careful, Lilly’’ Blake sighed. She had just slipped just a minute ago but was sprinting now not caring about the stairs. freewebnoveℓ.com
Whereas, as soon as Lyra reached her room, she closed the door before slumping onto the ground. She brought her knees closer to her chest and pressed both of her palms against her lips, "Hic’’ she tried her best to stop the sobs from leaving her mouth. Without caring about the pain in her cheek, she kept on muffling her cries not letting her mates hear them lest they come here. Lyra wanted to let all of this heartache out if not she felt like she would die.
"Why are you crying?’’ She jolted in her place when she heard a guttural masculine voice. And when she turned in the direction of that sound, an anger-filled familiar face came into her sight.
"Fox king?’’ Lyra whispered, "What are you doing here?’’
