Beauty in the beast world-Chapter 245: Eagle guards

"Where is Kyrell?’’

All of Lyra’s mates flinched in their places when they heard her sharp inquiring voice. Right now they were standing in the living room while their mate stood in front of them with her hands folded near her chest. She was looking at them with uncertainty and an anger-filled gaze, "Why is he not here? Is he still searching for me by any chance?’’

"Answer me!" She raised her voice when they stood still without giving her an answer. Lyra rarely shouted at her mates but the fact that they refused to tell her about Kyrell made her angry. This anger was mostly directed at herself rather than them. Kyrell was her responsibility and not theirs. They have no obligation for keeping an eye on one of her mates because it was her job to do that and she failed in doing so. She couldn’t help but think of how she completely forgot about Kyrell until Lucas reminded her of him. During a conversation, he suddenly blurted out about not seeing Kyrell around in everyone’s presence which in turn earned him vicious glares from the beastmen inside the room.

And the one to answer Lyra’s question now was also Lucas, "Except me and Noah, all of them attacked Kyrell when you went missing. They blamed him for losing you" It was simple. He did not want to incur his mate’s wrath not after he had a fantastic time with her just a few hours ago. And as for saving Noah, it was because he was his best friend as well as the fact that Noah didn’t join others in beating up Kyrell. He just wanted to clear his and his friend’s name in their mate’s presence.

Lyra felt his words ring inside her ears. Her face turned ghastly pale as she glanced at her mates, "Is that true?’’ She didn’t really need to ask that question because their heads lowered in shame and their refusal to meet her eyes gave it away, "Why?’’ Lyra asked her voice getting choked, "Why the hell did you guys attack him!?’’

Victor hesitated slightly before voicing out, "He lost you....He was supposed to protect you and he clearly failed that’’

"And why the heck were you not ’Protecting’ me?’’ retorted Lyra, "Aren’t you, my mate too?’’

That made Victor close his mouth. He had indeed failed but due to the heat of the moment of not seeing his mate, he decided to quell his anger on Kyrell. He knew his fault and wanted to apologize but his mate stopped him as she said, "I’m not the one you should be apologizing to’’ her eyes roamed on all of her mates as she added, ’’Make sure to apologize to him when he returns"

Then she went inside her room and came out with a thick robe draped around her, "I’m going to check on, Kyrell’’

"Not now, Lilly’’ said Blake as he stepped towards her, "The weather is not optimal for going out’’

"Yes sunshine’’ Demir supported him, "We will get Kyrell back if that is what you want but allowing you to go out in such a cold wind is not possible’’

Lyra scowled at them, "You two were very silent just a few minutes ago. Where was this voice when I was asking about Kyrell?’’

"I really apologize for what I did to Kyrell. But Lilly, please don’t go out now. It is dangerous’’ Blake said trying to implore her but Lyra was quick to refute back.

’’I’m going and that is final’’ Her words were filled with conviction as she finished putting on the leather glove on her right hand. With that, she started to walk towards the entrance to be only stopped by one of her mates.

Killian blocked his mate’s way and held her hand, "Don’t go...’’

Lyra’s eyes softened hearing his pleading voice. She firmly gripped back his hand before parting her lips, "I have to go. He is someone important to me. I have already made a sin by not seeking him sooner....That person, until the end tried to protect me Kiilian. I can’t betray him’’

Killian gazed at his mate’s face. There was resolution in her eyes as she said those words. And as a good mate, he couldn’t help but say, "Alright, I understand’’

"Killian!’’ he heard others refuting him in the background but he didn’t mind. The only one he was worried about was his mate. He had already disappointed her by attacking Kyrell back there and he didn’t want to get hated by his mate anymore. However, there was something even more important, "Promise me that you will return safely. That is all I ask’’

Lyra smiled, "I promise, Sweetheart. I will run right back to you if I ever fall in danger’’

The ones to accompany Lyra were Blake and Noah. Victor was still upset with her but she vowed to calm him down once she returns with Kyrell.

Due to having a high body temperature, Noah took it upon himself to hold his mate while Blake used his long tail to clear the snow covering their path. Some of the snake guards followed them even after Blake’s refusal.

"We want to guard the Queen, your majesty" Those were their exact words. The tribesmen were still exhilarated by the news of their king and queen staying back in their tribe for the winter.

After traveling for about an hour, they finally reached the Eagle tribe, and the sight that greeted them was a horde of warrior beastmen standing at the entrance. This was an unusual sight because the warriors only ever gathered during battles.

The snake guards moved in front of their king and warily gazed at the opponents. They were ready to attack if needed.

"What’s wrong?" Lyra asked while removing herself from Noah’s grip. The hostile gazes directed at her were too obvious for her to ignore.

"We are here to meet King Kyrell" announced Noah earning multiple glares from the eagle guards.

And one of them replied firmly, "We cannot allow an immortal beastman into our tribe, not one that had attacked our king previously"

Their words were sharp and right to the point, "But we do have orders to allow Lady Lyra an entry" Then they glanced at Noah, "The Lion prince can also accompany her"

Blake frowned hearing their words. He was about to refute them but held back when his mate stopped him from doing so, "Please Blake"

He looked at her, "I cannot do that. How can I let you go when they are looking at you like an enemy?"

Lyra forced a smile on her face, "I’ll be alright. Noah will be accompanying me"

Blake sighed but soon glared at the Eagle guards with killing intent clearly filled in his eyes, "I will not spare them if they hurt you" ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

"Alright" answered Lyra and hugged him before entering the eagle tribe.
