To His Hell and Back-Chapter 215: It Isn’t Boredom-II
Chapter 215: It Isn’t Boredom-II
When it was late, Arabella had gotten back to Cassius’s room despite dawdling for a while as she didn’t want to see Cassius’s face after the rumors she had heard about him and Isabelle. She tried to convince herself that she shouldn’t be the one to run away and that their relationship wasn’t one where she could get hurt from him being with another woman all night.
But despite convincing herself thus in her head, her heart felt restless.
Sighing she stood outside his door, her hands hovering on the golden doorknob without itself ready to push it down.
Before she could muster enough courage to push the doorknob down the door creaked open and a face of a confused Cassius appeared before her.
He leaned on the opened door, dress in the black tunic with the blood red embroidery, his air seemed tenser than ever, as if he was going to make a groundbreaking decision that would either destroy the castle or save it.
"Why are you lingering outside for so long?" Cassius’s eyebrows were raised on one side and his lips was pursed on a slight displeasure, "Did you have fun walking all around the castle until it was dusk?"
"I was just taking a walk," she answered him and then her eyes darted to his neck, not knowing why she had done so.
She recalled how usually those who had spent the night together would be covered with something called "kiss mark"? She didn’t know anything about it but she did hear about the rumors that kiss mark would be left after a passionate night.
Not that she could take this information seriously as the one who had given this information is the lady who was known to be crazy after her fiancee left her in the night of their supposed marriage.
"Why?" Cassius reached out his hand, lifting her head to his eye level, "You want to take a bite from my neck?"
Her eyes turned up at him, slightly taken aback as she swatted his hand, "I’m not a vampire. Why would I want to bite your neck?"
"Maybe because it looks tasty?" He teased and for a moment Arabella gulped.
Well he does have a thicker neck than others and a flawless skin at that. Most of his body felt hard like iron, perhaps because it was packed full with muscles that was built from days in battlefield. Just imagining on taking a bite on such ripe neck make her teeth ache and she did feel beguiled to do so.
But wouldn’t that leave a mark? And wouldn’t that mark be considered a kiss mark that people leave on each other’s body after a passionate night?
"You’re thinking so hard for such a small head," Cassius’s voice felt so much closer to her ears and sure enough when she lifted her head up, her heart almost came to a stop when she saw how close his face and most importantly lips were to hers.
She took a step back, her body however failing to move further from him as he had held her waist in place.
Then with a grin he tilted his head, "Alright, alright, I will stop teasing you. Just tell me, where were you this entire time?"
Arabella felt the burn over her cheeks and the knot on her stomach but not wanting to show any of the traces of emotions on her face, she covered her cheeks and pushed him slightly away though not too far as his hands hadn’t moved an inch from her waist.
"Just a walk as I’ve said."
"Where?" He continued, not willing to give her peace until she answered to his questions thoroughly.
"Well here and there.." how could she say that she stopped at his study room? "I saw Princess Isabelle," which wasn’t a lie, "Lala and Her Highness, Princess Marissa. Then we had a talk that took a bit too long so I came back late. Wait, why are you interrogating me when I had never interrogate you?"
Narrowing his eyes, Cassius seemed to have a lot of question though he suppressed all of them and instead answered her last question, "I spent the whole day planning a new battle as a barbarian at the North had been trying to cross the border and attacked the guards placed there. There were no women and only men. I’m sure you also are well aware that I’m not one who is into men."
She blinked at his answer, questioning why did she have to know about his schedule the entire day? Because she asked him?
"Let’s start by who is Lala?" Cassius continued as she furrowed her eyebrows. Despite her sulk, he saw her willingness to answer.
"The white cat. Though it jumped down from my hand when I reached your room. Seems like it hates your smell." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"That cat is smelly so who cares. Did you not talk to anyone at all? Anyone else other than those two?" Cassius continued to press and she hummed, wondering who she had talked with. She did say a few words to some maids but that was only brief greeting or a nod, nothing too special. "What about Malvo?"
She blinked and a wide "ah!" expression took place on her face.
"That did happen. But it was just him trying to get on my nerves. Then I told him off. Did he complain about me to you?" Suddenly she frowned, wondering if this was the reason why he had asked her whether or not she would want to leave the castle the other day?
It could be that someone close to him, his family, someone he cares, or perhaps even he himself who had felt that she was a burden?
"Oh," Cassius’s tight frown between his eyebrows seemed to have disappeared completely after hearing her words. Instead of the annoyance she thought he would show, he smiled wide again as if the earlier frown was just her imagination. "I see. You should have give him a hit or two if he annoys you again."
"Wouldn’t that warrant you into a fight?" she frowned and he rolled his eyes.
"Do you think he could win against me?"
"No," she answered, knowing well such thing was impossible. "But if you keep fighting due to me wouldn’t that tire you out?"
Cassius looked at her with an utterly confused expression.
"How could I ever be bored with you?" He asked her almost sounding too innocently with his question. "I, for one, have never felt bored with your presence. If I have to say you’re similar to a tube of paint with color that continuously mesmerized me. I could hardly find staring at your face as boring even more about your presence."
