To His Hell and Back-Chapter 137: The Curse Breaker
Chapter 137: The Curse Breaker
Danielle’s nose flared, anger coursing over the wrinkles on her face as she glared at Cassius who was smirking. He was going to die yet why with the confidence?
Cassius was an enigma as he seemed as though he knew everything but is he really? He was on the losing end, bleeding with his wounds unable to heal. His smile and smirk, and even his taunts all seemed too much like an act so he could buy as much time as he could so the wounds would be healed.
True, why would she believe his words? Over her own King who had given this power to her and made her live longer?
All she wanted was to break the pact and Cassius had swayed her into thinking that he had a way of helping her but he wouldn’t say anything. He wouldn’t help and he was most possibly lying.
"Well, that just mean you don’t actually know anything," said Danielle with a grin, "I almost bought it you know? Considering you speaking as if you know about demons a lot I almost thought that you perhaps have stolen the power of a demon like the rest of us."
"Oh please, I wouldn’t want to be one of you," Cassius coughed with blood and groaned when the sickle that had stabbed him under his ribs slowly squeezed around with Danielle’s twist.
"You say that vampires are a descendant of demons. Let’s say I do believe your words, then why is it that the only thing that separates you from us is the fact that you drink blood?"
"We are stronger than humans, does that not ring as powerful to you?" Cassius tilted his head to the side as he spoke.
"Stronger but still prone to death. A demon’s descendant shouldn’t be so easily prone to death or of old age don’t you think?" Taunted Danielle who had smirked in return, "Well this would mean that everything you had said is nothing but a lie then."
"Don’t be so quick to judge," Cassius answered as he grinned at how foolish Danielle was. He wanted to see what they had stolen from the demons but it seemed they weren’t as smart as his own mother when it comes to tricking those demons who had came from Hell. He answered, "Demons also die you know? They could die whether if it is from wounds or from old age."
"Liar," Danielle hissed, "I know they can’t die."
"Why so? Because you didn’t succeed in killing one doesn’t mean someone else couldn’t kill them."
Danielle’s green eyes widened, shock as well as suspicion colored her eyes but she shook her head, smiling, "I see that your real weapon isn’t your arm but rather your mouth. I was almost swayed again but you wouldn’t really think that I will believe your words so foolishly. If you really know demons then let’s see whether you will survive this too."
She was ready to finish him now, her thread shooting out to his neck to squeeze the life out of him but suddenly she felt her threads loosening. She frowned and heard Cassius’s voice taunting her even more, "Come on. I have called you spider multiple times and you really think that I’m unaware of your little trick?" Before she could comprehend what had happened, Cassius’s loosened arm had shot out to her neck.
He grabbed her tightly in place, slamming her back to the wall behind him.
In a panic, Danielle tried to use her other hand to attack him. He was much weaker now with the wounds all over his body so she should have an easier time taking care of him... right?
Then why? Why?!
Before her hands could shoot toward him and despite her other hand pressing deeper to her sickle that had twisted inside his guts, Cassius remained powerful. He didn’t wince, he didn’t cry out of pain. It was as if earlier his act of being in pain was all but a beautifully performed act.
"Come on, I have had my head cut from my neck before for a whole week, this is nothing," Cassius without a hesitation summoned his blade and in the count of seconds, he had cut through Danielle’s two hands, leaving only two before eventually cutting them off as well.
Danielle’s lips wrung out a sharp cry of pain, her body squirming underneath his grasp, trying to release herself to no avail. But Cassius watched how she was struggling without a single concern. He then moved his finger, pulling the vial from her pocket, and raised it to the sky, "Is this harmful to Arabella?" But Danielle was too much in pain to answer him, instead, she squirmed for help, and seeing that, Cassius furrowed his eyebrows. For a moment he pulled her body from the wall only to slam her to the wall again, this time with even more force that it had caused for the wall behind her to cave into a large hole.
"You are supposed to answer when asked," Cassius slammed her again and his expression remained stoic as blood began to splatter across his cheeks like paint, "Will this hurt her?" He asked only to slam her head again, bashing it into her skull, "What does he plan by marrying Arabella? Where’s Ariel?"
He slammed Danielle over and over, his question coming out coldly like a demand each time he smashed her head to the wall.
"What do you want with her? What is she?"
Danielle could see her view swaying, her eyes bloodied and the panic set into her. She yelled aloud, shaking her head, "That p- potion won’t hurt her! It’s n- nothing but a painkiller and to slow down the effect of the potion. It was supposed to be g- given to her when we succeeded in bringing her back to the castle."
"Next," Cassius coldly demanded after pocketing the flask of potion.
"W- We need a way to break the curse," Danielle’s expression twisted as she knew that answering was the only way for her to survive. Gone was all her haughtiness, replaced by raw fear.
"What curse?"
"The curse given by the late K-King’s bloodline! It put His M- Majesty to be locked in the castle, unable to step out. They ha- had used their pact to us to make sure that we would stay in certain places. We can’t leave Versailles but we can’t also enter the castle. His Majesty can’t step out from his castle so he needed Arabella to break the curse," answered Danielle before shaking her head, "I can’t say anything anymore. If I do... I will explode! If I do explode everyone would die- everyone from this whole building!"
"So you also accepted the curse made by your King to achieve this power," Cassius replied before gritting his teeth, "Then what is Arabella?"
"S- She... I can’t answer," cried Danielle as she knew if she spoke more than this, she would explode. No one should answer more of Morpheus’s plan and if they do, they would become nothing but a mass of blood and flesh as per their pact. "You should go back to her," Danielle then said as tears streamed down her face, "She’s awoken now with that potion... she will begin to take lives."
"Lives?" Cassius furrowed his black brows, his crimson eyes tightening, "Do you mean that there’s something dormant inside her that needs to feast from life?"
"H- How did you- yes," Danielle answered in shock, and at once her face turned pale. "I answered... I answered I’m going to explain-" All of a sudden Danielle’s words were engulfed to nothingness, her body began to swell in odd places, her legs her stomach, and her head, ready to explode.
Cassius who stood in front of her was going to become one of her casualties...
