To His Hell and Back-Chapter 136: A Little Hellish
Chapter 136: A Little Hellish
Cassius didn’t look at her. His fingers curled tighter around the hilt of his sword, and the air around him trembled ever so slightly with the pressure of held back rage.
"I don’t need her pity," he said, his voice low. "I need her alive."
He exhaled sharply, a hiss of breath through clenched teeth as he looked at the building. If he destroys the basement the humans above would be in danger of death by crushing underneath the stone pillars. Meanwhile, there’s still Arabella’s savior and she wouldn’t be very happy knowing he had partaken in her death.
That being said he wasn’t so calm either that he could fully control all his emotions. Anger was always an Achilles heels to him, specially now when he felt it more intensely than ever.
He let out a brief sigh, looking at the ceiling for a moment as he shut his red eyes. "Damn it I was bred to kill, not to protect. Mercy was something my mother forbid me to learn."
Danielle tilted her head and her green eyes gleamed. "How delightfully honest of you. Maybe there’s hope for that blackened heart of yours yet. Vampires when they die return to Hell but no worries perhaps there’s a better place in Hell that won’t feel so painful."
Cassius finally glanced up, and his smile was cold, as he returned his gaze at Danielle, "Pitiful of you to think that after murdering countless of life that you’re going to be somewhere not in Hell with me. Don’t worry once you’re dead, I’ll make sure to bring your friend for company. So you won’t be lonely suffering all alone."
"Well let’s see then," Danielle chuckled and her six hands began to move in all sort of ways. A sudden gust of wind blew over the hallway of the basement and the candlesticks all over the wall flickered for a money, causing for the room to be dark in a blink. That same brief moment, Danielle had disappeared and by the time the light came back, Cassius saw that Danielle was gone and felt something holding his ankle.
He looked down, finding Danielle who was crawled on all four, letting out a sharp ear deafening laughter like that of a witch’s. Ignoring the laughter, Cassius stomped her face down and Danielle managed to dodge it though she saw what happened to the floor that couldn’t dodge from his attack, seeing how it had caved, how it had turned into a large hole.
Cassius’s prowess was no joke. He had been playing safe all this time because of Arabella’s presence and her antidote but now that he had nothing to worry about, his true color was showing and it shocked Danielle who thought that pure blood vampire would be another easy kill on her list.
Danielle crawled backward on all her limbs, grinning wickedly. Her black sickles glinted under the flickering candles. She then suddenly rushed forward, running at the speed of a spider toward his ankle, wanting to cut it.
Cassius who saw this clicked his tongue, "How filthy."
"Filthy?" cackled Danielle, "Well let’s see if you can even win against this filth," and before he could move his leg, Cassius felt something that had held him back.
It wasn’t a hand, someone didn’t grab him. There was no object tied around his leg either yet as if poisoned his leg had refused to move.
He frowned as Danielle suddenly appeared before his face, ready to slit his neck, and in a swift move, Cassius repel her sickle with his sword, his movement powerful enough to send Danielle to the other end of the hallway but Danielle quickly manage to return to her balance, crawling on the ground while breaking her fall.
She giggled, "Curious aren’t you now?"
"Curiosity is for something worth to look at not a filthy spider," answered Cassius and that seemed to cause Danielle’s face to scrunch in anger.
She reached forward again, this time the flames on the candlestick had suddenly all gone out when Danielle shoot toward him.
Cassius could sense the smell of someone else but before he could defend himself, he felt something tightening around his arms, stopping his hand from moving and pinning it in place.
His right eye twitched as Danielle’s sickle pierced through his abdomen. Blood poured down his body, pooling underneath his feet and a sound of a groan accompanied the squelching noise that came from Danielle who had pulled out her sickle.
She grin wide as unlike Cassius, she had the upper hand in this fight. After all, unlike her, Cassius’s eyes couldn’t see through the darkness. He had also been pinned in place, unable to move with her little silver threads that she had shot out from her mouth, something that Cassius hadn’t noticed at all.
"Giving up now?" Danielle sang, "I heard silver blade is a vampire’s ultimate weakness. It stops you from healing the wound, am I right? Even if you are a pureblood and you can still stand, I doubt it is for long. Are you scared now?"
"Scared?" Cassius answered, exhaling deeply and Danielle could hear that there was a tremble coming out from his lips, obviously from fear of death as he had just felt how it tasted. "Oh dear, I am so utterly scared."
Danielle’s cheeks twitched at his tone, "You really do know how to test someone’s patience, don’t you?"
"Oh please, you haven’t felt the worse and you’re complaining already?" Cassius sang out, "Your King plan to marry my birdie yet he’s nothing but a coward who had appeared using someone else’s body."
"Hahaha, do you wish to compare yourself to our King?" Danielle who wasn’t aware of Cassius’s method of taunting people to confess had answered with hatred in her voice, "He is simply unable to move away from the castle for now. But once Arabella comes to his side, your kind will finally understand how it feels to be ruled by someone stronger than you."
With a sharp twist of her wrists, a thin silken threads shot out from her palms, glistening like spiderwebs in moonlight. Only Danielle could see this thread, considering how dark the hallway had become and how Cassius was unaware of the thread’s existence.
In a moment, she had pinned Cassius to the wall and heard him struggling. His body tries its best to tear the threads away but he wasn’t aware of how it couldn’t be broken by a simple force and needed a sharp blade to cut them. While he was rendered to uselessness, Danielle took her time to slice him away.
She sliced his arms, she sliced his chest, choosing the places that felt the most painful yet that wouldn’t be enough to deal with him. What she wanted to see was Cassius’s suffering and she didn’t want to choose an easy death for him. She wanted it so he would bleed out to death, regretting that he couldn’t see Arabella anymore.
Danielle’s body shuddered at the pleasing thought. And she could see how Cassius’s was losing his energy as blood continuously spill out from his body like a faucet.
"Say," Danielle sang out, "You earlier spooked us speaking about demons. But how do you know anything about them? You, vampires, aren’t supposed to be aware of their existence."
"Why not?" Cassius’s words left from his lips like a sigh, unable to move and was only subjected to bleeding out like a large punching bag. "Because we don’t trust in demons, is that what you think?"
Danielle narrowed her eyes, "That, but also because vampires aren’t compatible with demons."
"From who did you learn that information?" Cassius questioned with his faint annoying chuckle that made her frown.
"What do you mean?!" Danielle demanded as she had stolen the power of demons and had since feared the day of her death as per her pact she would be torn apart in Hell once she left the world for good. All she had wanted to do was to find a way to break her pact but still contain the power she had stolen from the demons.
It seems to her that Cassius had an idea on how to do so and although she wanted to get rid of him as quickly as possible, she needed to squeeze the information out of him first.
Cassius sighed, "Vampires are the creation of demons," he explained, "You can say that we are their descendants."
"No wonder considering how filthy you are," Danielle spat out.
"And Your King should know about this," Cassius said, "But odd isn’t it?" He entertained her, "From what I hear from you, it seems that Your King had held this information from you on purpose."
"What?" Danielle furrowed her eyebrows, staring at him with her green eyes that had an odd mix of purple color mixed in them.
Cassius who saw this understood that though they all share green eyes, just like how vampires’ red eyes had their hierarchy, Danielle belongs to the lower one.
This only proved his suspicion even further that his little birdie was one of their kind...
"What do you mean by that?!" Danielle yelled, "What is it that you are hiding from me?!"
"Calm down," Cassius sighed in an exhausted whisper, "Demons are a source of power just like angels. But unlike angels, Demons don’t share their power willingly. Considering their nature, they would never want to share power with a lower creature like humans which means that you must have stolen their power by forcing them to create a pact with you. Now you must be fearful, aren’t you? The demons stolen from their power will be utterly angered by your existence after all."
"H- How do you know all of this-" Danielle’s voice shook and trembled. She was clearly holding Cassius’s life on her hands yet she was the one who had felt the fear of death that sent shivers down her spine, causing her skin to tremble.
"Then you should know how to break the pact!" Danielle demanded but Cassius grinned.
"Why should I tell you?"
