The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband-Chapter 372: Longing
Chapter 372: Longing
The journey by sea from Pius to Vitalis was a day’s journey. It went by quickly before they knew it, and an entire day had passed, and the shores of Vitalis were within their sight.
Abrielle spent the entire journey resting in her room. By dawn the next morning, she was up and decided to take a walk on the deck.
The hull of the vessel swayed lightly as the waves hit it. Abrielle sat up in bed, her eyes darting around the empty room. Cedric was already gone, she sighed feeling sorry for him. She felt a bit guilty knowing she was part of his stress.
"I need some air." She sighed.
Worse, he was to go to war after this. She moved her legs to the side and put on simple sandals before grabbing a random coat. It was oversized and smelled like sandalwood and cinnamon. It was his coat.
After getting cosy in the coat, she left the room. Her footsteps echoed through the walls. It was early on the morning and the sound waves dominated every other sound
She made her way up the stairs, the deck coming to her sight. The lanterns on the wall were still burning.
The sun wasn’t yet visible on the horizon, but twilight had broken; the not-so-distant land of Vitalis was just beyond.
The sky was beautiful in the twilight her mouth fell agape as she admired the natural beauty. Soft humming sounds drifted in the wind and came to her. Her eyes sparkled wondering who was singing.
Abrielle’s body swayed, her footsteps light until she found the culprit. This was a quiet part of the deck. A slender figure stood, her auburn hair danced with the wind. With her hands on the rails.
The morning breeze blew across Camilla, who hadn’t realised Abrielle’s presence behind her. She hummed a distant song of longing. One she loved playing for Richard on the piano when it was just the two of them.
The humming stopped. "That’s a lovely song." She heard someone say from behind her. Camilla’s eyes went wide, and she took a sharp turn, surprised to see Abrielle.
"Your highness" she gasped. Abrielle smiled. "Good morning, Camilla..you came up for some fresh air," Abrielle said, walking to her side.
Abrielle’s hand grabbed the handrails, and she took in a deep breath. The salty sea air filled her lungs.
"I was feeling nervous about Vitalis. It is a beautiful city ." Camilla replied with her eyes watching the city.
"Yes, it’s called the most beautiful city in Darconia for a reason but Vesper is also beautiful in its way." Abrielle chimed. They both watched the city in silence, both having their thoughts.
A new beginning, Cecilia said, Camilla didn’t know how it would feel. She was meant to move on and forget her past but yet she woke up this morning remembering the peaceful moments she had with Richard.
Camilla grabbed her dress, she was still longing for a man she could not have.
"Do you think it is possible to stop loving someone?" Camilla asked Abrielle. The princess leaned down her elbows on the rails, the land was getting close. By the time the sun crossed the horizon, they would be at port.
"I don’t think you can completely stop loving someone, the love can turn to hate and you might love the person less," Abrielle answered. Camilla sighed.
"It is indeed a beautiful morning." She said,
By full morning, they had docked at the port. The girls gathered once more on the deck to say their farewell to the princess before they parted finally
"I guess this is it." Abrielle smiled sweetly after hugging Cecilia the last one.
They held their hands and the other girls all touched. "We might run into each other in the palace. My grandfather is an imperial physician." Cecilia revealed, which surprised Abrielle.
"I had no idea," the princess replied, explaining why Cecilia had very good protection and healing skills.
"I didn’t mean to hide it." Cecilia smiled then glanced at Camilla. She grabbed Camilla’s hand. "It’s time we leave Camilla. You will love my grandmother. She is kind-hearted." She chimed.
"Good Luck your highness," the other girls echoed as they got off the ship. Abrielle waved them off with a bright smile. A Chapter was finally over.
She glanced at Cedric, who was talking with an imperial knight; his expression was grim. It seemed something was off. Did the war at the borders get worse?
The royal couple were not leaving immediately, it was taking a bit longer for their path to the island to be cleared.
The port was full of life in the morning, and the girls all went their different ways. Some had their families waiting for them, others left alone.
Cecilia’s arm was with Camilla. Her eyes darted around the busy crowd trying to find her family. "Where are they?" She pouted. Her family should be waiting. She had sent a message yesterday that her arrival was delayed by a day
"They should be somewhere here, the crowd in the port is always hectic," Cecilia grumbled. Her eyes caught a familiar red emblem on a carriage, the Flameworth family symbol.
"There they are," she squealed. Her eyes sparkled, and she pulled Camilla, tugging her hand as she wove through the crowd.
"Settle down Cecilia, your family won’t disappear," Camilla grumbled, and she bumped into a couple of people until finally they got to the carriage.
Camilla’s scarf was caught by something as they squeezed out of the crowd. She noticed and turned around immediately to find the scarf while Cecilia let go of her hands as she pounced on her family member.
"Granny," the girl chimed, showing her teenage charms. Cecilia was around 17 years of age. An elderly woman in her early fifties heard the familiar voice.
Cecilia’s grandmother had been searching for her all morning. "Cecilia," the lady cried, seeing her granddaughter. She could not believe that they would find her again
Cecilia jumped into her hands and broke into tears as they had a heartfelt reunion. "I thought I would never see you again." Cecilia cried in the comfort of her Granny’s hand who was rubbing her back.
Camilla, who stood not too far away, was frozen in a spot, unable to move. How cruel was fate?
"Camilla," she heard him say. She didn’t reply. She turned around and got on her heels to run, but she couldn’t outrun him. His arms wrapped her waist from behind, and she was enveloped by that warmth she didn’t want to miss, but she missed.
