The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband-Chapter 369: Heat poisoning
Chapter 369: Heat poisoning
Cedric’s footsteps were quick as he matched up to the building. He could feel her burning in his arms and her fragile conscience slipping.
Her hands were clutching her clothes while she kept on rambling random words.
Count Fredrick Pius rushed towards Cedric to greet the prince, although his county was one of the richest in Darconia, he didn’t have much influence and wanted to use this encounter to the best of his abilities.
"Welcome, Your Highness," the count bowed slightly as he welcomed Cedric at the stairway. Cedric couldn’t care less about his greetings.
"Have the physician arrived?" The prince demanded, and the count’s eyes flickered, seeing the level of urgency.
"She is already available, please this way." He led Cedric in. Fredrick glanced at his wife and daughter the prince didn’t bother to pay any attention to before matching into the large luxurious building.
Cedric’s pace was fast; he wasn’t running, but his long legs made it hard for the count to catch up. They finally got to the guest room that the count had prepared.
A female physician was waiting at the door. Her eyes glimmered on seeing the prince, and she quickly bowed. "Greetings your highness. Please come inside."
The door creaked open, and Cedric stepped in. He placed Abrielle on the bed, his heart aching at her condition. She was still saying strange things that made no sense with her eyes closed.
Like she was killed and came here.
The physician was confused but not surprised after checking her fever. "She is delirious. Everything will be fine," She assured Cedric, hinting to him to step out.
Evelyn stayed inside the room to monitor the physician and assist as she took care of the princess. She didn’t dare to compromise on Abrielle’s safety.
The sun was blazing high in the sky, its golden light streamed through the curtains.
It was past noon, and Cedric left the room but didn’t wander far. He was exhausted; there were so many things on his plate now.
Time seemed to have ticked slowly. The door opened multiple times, and cries echoed from the room. It didn’t seem normal for a regular fever, and the wait felt like forever until finally the sun was on the horizon, the orange glow of the sun set that reminded him of her ginger hair flooded the halls.
The door opened once again, the physician stepping out, her eyes fell on Cedric, the infamous tyrant, the first prince. This was the first time she had seen him, although he had half of his face covered by a mask, she could deduce that he was charming.
Just from his build and distinct facial features, the mask couldn’t hide his jaw line and those perfect lips, not too thin or full, just perfectly proportioned for him.
Cedric was leaning against the wall, his eyes closed, the same posture he had been in for hours. She could just stare forever.
Her fun was quickly interrupted when the prince’s sarcastic voice spoke, jolting her from her trance. "I don’t appreciate anyone other than my wife staring for too long. I can feel your gaze..." Cedric said.
His gold eyes slowly opened and fell on the physician, she was young but very knowledgeable as her family had been physicians for years due to their healing magic.
Her grip on her bag tightened nervously when he caught her. "I am sorry for making you uncomfortable, Prince Cedric." Her voice was shaky, with his eyes open it felt like he wasn’t the sleeping angel anymore but a demon in his wake
"Just say what you have to say. How is she?" He asked not to be in the mood for unnecessary talks.
"The princess’s condition is delicate; if she survives the night, she will be better by the morning, and you can continue your journey." She explained,
"And..." Cedric asked, knowing she had more to say. The physician swallowed then continued.
"The fever is not entirely caused by cold, the cold was a catalyst, but she is burning from within, it feels like heat poison. I have done all I can the rest is left to her to fight the heat. It would have been better if there had been an ice mage to help her with the heat poison."
Cedric sighed, his hand weaving through his dark locks. He didn’t say anything, the only ice user he knew was Callista but he was sure Abrielle would rather die than take help from Callista if not he would have teleported the priestess here
He didn’t care if he had to expose his identity. "If you have no other questions, I would love to take my leave. I will be back by dawn to check her condition. Hopefully, it will be better." The physician bowed then left on Cedric’s approval.
Her footsteps faded as she left, the door creaked open as he pushed it open, his eyes falling on the figure resting on the bed.
Evelyn heard him come in and immediately bowed. "Your highnesses." Without a word being said, she quickly grabbed the used water bowl and left the room, giving them enough privacy. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
The door closed at her departure. Cedric took steady steps to Abrielle’s side, he took a seat on the bed. Her eyes were closed with her lip parted.
She was breathing slowly, his hand touching her forehead. She was still burning although not as intensely as before. Even in this state, she still had her charm.
He grabbed one of her hands, and he clapped with both hands. His head was bowed like he was saying a prayer but even God won’t listen to a demon like him. "We will make it through this, as we always do." He said resolutely.
He just held her hand like that for minutes, feeling her soft pulse and her stable breath.
The sky had gotten dark, and Cedric didn’t even know when he fell asleep holding her hand in an extremely uncomfortable sitting position.
A soft knock on the door woke him followed by an unfamiliar voice. "Please can I have a word with you, Prince Cedric. The count sent me." The voice politely asked.
Cedric frowned but still reluctantly let go of Abrielle’s hand to see who it was. The door slowly opened revealing a young lady around the same age as Abrielle. The count’s daughter.
"Greetings, your highness," she curtseyed, flaunting her cleavage that wasn’t covered. Cedric didn’t say a thing, so she nervously swallowed, glancing up to meet his gaze.
"I am here to attend to you. Dinner is being served." She explained but her tone was rather seductive.
