The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband-Chapter 356: Play a game
Chapter 356: Play a game
His voice was unsympathetic, "My knee is injured," Abrielle stated the obvious. Cedric squatted down to scrutinise the scrap on her knee.
"It looks fine to me. Continue running." He said; Cedric stood up; his expression was blank, making it hard for her to read his expression. Abrielle glared at him hating how nonchalant he was. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"I can’t continue." She wasn’t being a whiny brat, but her feet were killing her, and her knee was injured. How could she continue running in this condition?
"You were the one who said I should not be soft, soldiers keep on fighting with worse injuries. If you are in a battle and you get injured, will you give up so easily?" His words were sharp and straight to her ego where it hurt her.
She gritted her teeth, trying to balance her body before she started running again. Her injured knee made it more unbearable. ’ Come on, Abrielle, you can do this,’ she cheered herself.
With much difficulty, she continued to run; it was amusing for the person trailing behind him. He has underestimated her.
Nope, he judged her too early. Abrielle was running a few feet away from where she had fallen earlier. She fell down again, tripping on a root that was bulging out of the ground. She whined this time around, tears brimming at the corners of her eyes.
She dared not cry, she heard his footsteps stop by her side. That annoying man. "You can go ahead and laugh at me." she sneered at him.
To her shock, he actually chuckled at her; it was more annoying that his laugh was pleasing to her ears. "I am starting to doubt you were the same person who motivated and made an escape plan from death’s bites. More impressively, you fought and mercilessly burned many opponents."
Abrielle was too surprised that Cedric knew of the feet she achieved. She was even stunned that she couldn’t run a single race when she had fought so bravely during the culling.
"Just let me be. That was different; the sheer will to survive was what was pushing me." She pouted, Cedric was still behind her.
"You have to find the will again," he said, giving her his hand; Abrielle sighed and then accepted it. Her knees ached as she struggled to stand on it. Her eyes twitched as she hissed in pain.
"Is that General Cedric speaking or my husband?" She chirped trying to control her reaction.
"Your husband, General Cedric, would not have batted an eye and would have given up on training you," Cedric explained, he wasn’t a very patient person. This was something she understood.
Abrielle was having problems standing on her feet; Cedric frowned, realising the injury might be more difficult than he thought.
She was scooped off the ground into his hands. Her hands instinctively wrapped around his shoulders. Her first day of training and her disadvantaged body as the villainess were already making things difficult for her.
Cedric took her to a shaded tree, where he placed her against the trunk. "Let me have a look at your leg." He didn’t wait for her to respond when he started inspecting her leg.
Abrielle was wearing leather trousers that didn’t tear from the fall, but there was a wet patch on her knee. The strong metallic scent of blood coming from them indicated that she was wounded.
"Maybe I should head back to get the maids to attend to it," Abrielle suggested. They could not inspect the injury unless she pulled off her trousers or Cedric tore them.
"That won’t be necessary." Cedric placed his hand above her knee, then a dark fog started leaving his fingers. The pain gradually eased off, and the bleeding stopped.
Cedric also inspected her hands, which had minor scratches that he had healed. Abrielle watched him as he took his time; his actions were delicate, and his entire attention was on her.
Her heartbeat slowed, and her face slightly heated up. His side profile was very charming; she watched him closely, tracing her eyes around the contour of his face. Cedric’s hair was tied into a bun; she was uncertain, which made him look better when his hair was down or up.
"I am done now," he said, turning to her face; their eyes met as he caught her staring. Abrielle’s cheeks grew redder, with her heart hammering. Why was she reacting this way towards this annoying man?
"Why are your cheeks so red?" He asked, teasingly with a smile on his lips. Even with a mask on, he didn’t look any less charming. Abrielle forced herself to pry her eyes away, and her lips pouted.
"You are seeing things. Thanks for the help." She muttered, still avoiding his gaze, but her heart was still on a rampage. Cedric could hear her heartbeat and that made this more embarrassing.
"You don’t have to thank me. It is my duty." Cedric sternly corrected her. The cloud rumbled with the clouds going heavy. It was obvious the clouds were about to pour down.
Cedric glanced at the dark clouds and then back at Abrielle, who was too embarrassed to meet his gaze. "We should head back, I don’t want you catching a cold in the rain."
The air was indeed getting colder, and Abrielle could deduce it would rain heavily. "If it were someone else, would you have stopped for the day?"
She had barely done anything aside from running a few metres. That wasn’t enough; she needed to get stronger, and Zoltana wasn’t here again to assist them.
"That someone else isn’t my wife who is vulnerable to the cold. If you get sick I will be worried to the death." Cedric explained, no matter how he tried to separate the fact that they were married while they trained
"I am indeed pathetic. I can’t even run." Abrielle groaned, and he felt a pinch from her mood.
Sparks erupted as his fingers rubbed her cheeks, drawing her attention to him. "You are not pathetic Abrielle. You have a strong will and you will get stronger with time."
She glanced away from him. "That doesn’t help much." Abrielle got on her glad that her leg was feeling better now. She brushed past him and started walking away when she heard him speak again, halting her movement.
"What about we carry out a training exercise under the rain, something that involves running, but I have an idea to make you run faster," Cedric suggested, drawing her attention to him.
She turned around with her brows furrowed. Cedric approached her, pulling out a dagger; he turned, handing the handle towards her. "Why don’t we test your stamina with a crazy game of hide and seek?"
She was more puzzled because how was that going to help her?
