The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband-Chapter 299: Attack from the night
Chapter 299: Attack from the night
The carriage started to shake violently. Arrow piercing through the wooden frames of the carriage. A scream echoed as one successfully flew through the carriage and almost struck the princess. Luckily, Evelyn caught it before it could harm Abrielle.
"We are under attack!!" Axel screamed out the obvious as soon as he realized what was going on. He could sense the presence. They were not the sorcerers, they didn’t have the ominous presence of the sorcerers.
"Bloody hell," the coachman screamed while trying his best to control the horses, but it was for nought. Evelyn had realized the situation already; she was confused about whether she should try to flee with the princess and wait in the carriage.
They had no idea how many were out there or how strong they were. Her priority was Abrielle’s safety; although no one said it directly, she knew her master would release chaos if something happened to the princess.
As soon as the shootings started, Abrielle moved to the middle of the carriage, where she was shielded by the maids. "What do they want?" She asked half screaming.
"I have no idea, they might either be enemies of the prince or something else. I don’t think they are the sorcerers." Evelyn stated her observation. Due to the violent shaking of the carriage, Abrielle was already bruised, as her body was earlier tossed by the force to hit the frames.
"Everything will be fine; worst-case scenario, be ready to jump," Evelyn warned Abrielle. Her eyes narrowed wondering what was going on out there. frёeωebɳovel.com
The coachman struggled to gain control, an arrow which was lit with flames struck the horse’s reigns and the carriage wheels. Amid the chaos, the horses went erratic and broke free while the wheels were destroyed, leaving them stranded.
Due to the force, the carriage lost its balance, rolling down the road into the woods. Even the sturdy carriage could not stand the force of being hit from different angles. Axel and the coachman were lucky enough to jump out before the carriage started to roll but there was no time to get the princess down
Axel stood at the edge of the road, dread creeping up his heart as he watched the carriage roll. Nothing should happen to the princess. He rushed with the coachman down the hill to the falling carriage.
A range of arrows lit on fire stopped them, and soon, they were surrounded by hooded figures. No words were said, the other side started to attack immediately. "I will cover for you go warn the prince," Axel Instructed the coachman as he unsheathed his sword to fend off the attack.
The assailants had their faces all covered; from the way they fought, Axel recognized they had no intentions of killing him. They just wanted to keep him away. The main target was Abrielle. "Good luck," the coachman screamed as he ran away.
The attackers didn’t bother to stop him, more like Axel didn’t give them the chance. The coachman ran like his life depended on it. "Better be fast," Axel sneered, while he dodged a dagger that was dangerously close to his face. They were strong. His eyes narrowed, and he hoped Evelyn would be able to keep the princess safe.
Screams echoed as it rolled over and over again. Doors cracked, and the window broke as the carriage fell apart.
Abrielle was shaking with fear, while Zoltana tried to calm her down. It was an assassination attempt. Up til now, there were no signs of their attackers that attacked from the night. "Try to hold onto something", Evelyn warned as she struggled to hold onto a seat while grabbing Abrielle.
The fall was fast and bumpy. Abrielle and Zoltana tried the same but their grip was slippery. "I can’t hold on," Abrielle said, panicking. Trying to reach out for Evelyn’s hand while her fingers that desperately dug into the wooden seat slipped.
Evelyn was holding onto Abrielle’s garment, which could not hold the tension of the princess’s weight and was tearing slowly. The carriage hit a large trunk. The force made Evelyn hit her body against the walls, and then Abrielle’s dress tore.
A door flew open and the wind force dragged the passengers in the carriage out. Abrielle was dragged out of the carriage and thrown only God knew the same with Zoltana.
The carriage finally stopped rolling, it was being anchored by the tree. Evelyn struggled to crawl out her entire body aching and covered with bruises. She managed to leave the broken carriage and struggled to stand while supporting her weight with debris. As soon as she recovered from the initial shock, her eyes darted around, trying to find the princess.
"Princess Abrielle, princess Abrielle." She screamed, her body ached but she couldn’t care less as she tried to run to find the princess. "Princess Abrielle!!" She screamed again. There was no reply.
The leaves rustled, and her eyes narrowed as expected. Another attack came. It was fireballs burning everything around her and trapping her at her spot. Evelyn’s hand clenched, her eyes spotting out the hooded figures that stood at the edge of the fire.
"Don’t let her leave the ring of fire this one is more dangerous than the knight." One of the hooded figures warned that Evelyn’s suspicion spiked up; they knew of Cedric’s ranks. Only a few were aware of the fact she was an assassin.
Evelyn tried to advance, but she was thrown back by a strong wind spell. Then explosion spells came flying, they were avoiding coming in contact.
A bit far away from where Evelyn was, Abrielle slowly regained her consciousness. Her entire body ached, a sharp hiss left her lips as she struggled to sit up from the ground she was. "Princess Abrielle," she heard someone anxiously call.
Her head slowly turned to the source, she gritted her teeth due to the insufferable pain. "Zoltana," she slowly called. The other maid, who was equally bruised, ran up to the princess’s side to help her up. "Thank the goddess you are safe." She chimed.
Abrielle who was still disoriented, lips parted as she struggled to say. "What is going on Zoltana? This isn’t the plan."
