The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband-Chapter 296: It wasn’t just games
Chapter 296: It wasn’t just games
Cedric, who without a doubt had sensed the ginger close by, was approaching. He wanted to warn her of the sorcerers for her to leave the festival earlier since it seemed their hunch was correct.
Cedric glanced at Elias and Sapphire not bothering about the fact a blade was against the princess’s neck. His gaze was fleeting then he continued walking in. Elias hissed knowing he had more important things to do. In the blink of an eye, he disappeared into the shadows using concealment magic.
Sapphire used the opportunity to run into the hall, tracking them down. She finally spotted Cedric as he was about to approach the balcony entrance when midnight struck.
Her footsteps slowed down, and she was confused as to why Cedric didn’t enter the balcony. It was midnight, she could hear the silence as the clock struck. Cedric’s face was covered with a mask, as always, his gaze dead. No emotions were in them to give her the slightest clue what was going on.
"Elias, get her out of here," Cedric calmly Instructed before Elias once again emerged from the shadows once again to carry out the instructions. Baffled, she could not understand why Cedric was more keen on getting her away than catching his cheating wife.
Sapphire’s face twisted. She stood her ground refusing to be pushed around by a knight that was twice her size. "Chasing me away won’t change the reality we all see." She stated, her voice calm just loud enough for them to hear.
"I don’t have time to listen to your rubbish. You should leave for your good and stop poking your nose into what doesn’t concern you." Elias found Cedric to be rather patient with Sapphire although he guessed the prince was calm because he didn’t want the princess to be alarmed.
He was initially surprised when Cedric showed up and was able to pinpoint the princess’s exact location without a clue. He had known him for a while and was aware of the fact Cedric had remarkable tracking skills.
Elias approached Sapphire, the princess’s red eyes burning with determination to confirm her suspicions. "Rubbish you call it. I know you have eyes to see the signs. You deserve better and I am better. If you have nothing to hide you won’t be standing here preventing me from seeing it. Expose Abrielle for the adulterer she is and choose someone that deserves you." She gave her rich speech seeing this as a good time to pitch out
Cedric arched his brows at her. "So I should get rid of my current wife, who has not only connections in the court but also the temple for a foreign princess who has no other intention than to use me for my strength because she finds me worthy." He sneered at her, his gaze sharp. Sapphire went silent because she was indeed after Cedric because of the talents she had recognized.
Her first bet was Lucian but that was a dead end. "I truly admire you." She said the rest of her words got stuck in her throat. Cedric’s gaze was sharp, a cold aura enveloping the air.
A loud, deafening sound echoed from the fireworks. Cedric was mad at first. She thought it was her, but her doubt was clear when she heard him chuckle lightly, barely a laugh. It was dark and eerie; he ignored her, taking a few steps to the balcony entrance, whose doors were left wide open.
Sapphire wanted to follow after but Elias prevented her. She could only watch Cedric’s back as he quietly leisurely leaned against the door presuming watching Abrielle and Alfonso. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
She had no idea what was happening because of the loud noises in the background from the festival and could only rely on Cedric’s reaction, which didn’t give off much. She wondered if Cedric had truly caught them in a compromising position
Her hands went sweaty, nervous about what was going to happen next.
He heard it clearly despite the loud fireworks and music. Alfonso indirectly confessed to Abrielle. Cedric swore it took him his every resolve not to burst there. It was more than games, Alfonso loved his wife
He had a bitter mix of anger and disgust. He didn’t lose his mind, maybe because he wanted to hear what she would say. He didn’t care about Sapphire, he just stood at the door watching them.
It was noisy and they seemed to be so engrossed in the moment to sense him. Their attention was away from the entrance; he watched and listened, taking in her reaction. It was a shock at first; at least she rejected him, but then Alfonso pushed his love, offering to kill him.
He smiled, he wondered how glad Abrielle was at the thought. It was what she wanted badly.
. "Those are big words, Alfonso. We both know you don’t have what it takes to kill Cedric. Forget this idiocy and never mention this rubbish before me again. I kept my part of the bargain. I hope you keep yours" She rejected him, but it didn’t reduce the rage. At least she was not delusional to think Alfonso could fulfil her sick fantasy. His face was dead calm a stark difference from the storm brewing in him
In the heat of his rage, he didn’t fail to note something. Abrielle spoke of a bargain. He wondered what that was. She finally turned around, her body frozen, her face drained of blood as she stared back at him in horror. He smiled at her, and that smile shook her to the core.
"I guess I will have to prove you wrong." Alfonso, who hadn’t sensed anything off yet, foolishly said before he turned his attention to the entrance. Alfonso’s face went stiff on seeing Cedric. Challenging enough, no regret or fear lingered in his gaze, just shock.
"I would love to see you try." He chimed, it was a challenge. Under the cold smile, Cedric’s gaze was suffocating. Alfonso recognized that look and so did Abrielle. She swallowed. Was Cedric going to kill Alfonso to seal his fate of being killed today?
"You don’t scare me." The third prince bravely said
"Trust me, you should be scared," Cedric replied, exercising a great level of constraint he never imagined he had before. His blood thirst was slowly leaking yet he held back. His cold eyes fell on Abrielle once more, her smile disappearing. "Come over," he instructed, sending chills.
Abrielle didn’t think twice sensing the tension, guilty clawing her heart. She held up her dress and stepped forward. Alfonso stopped her, grabbing his hand; he knew this was the slightest chance he had to fight for a forbidden and impossible love.
"You don’t have to listen to him. I can protect you." He said sincerely. Abrielle tried to pull her hand from his hold, scared for him knowing Cedric was capable of ending Alfonso here. Cedric’s aura went amok, the pressure suffocating.
"Then should I listen to you over my husband? Let go, Alfonso, it’s enough." Her voice was pleading for his sake.
"You heard her," Cedric stepped forward, slowly unsheathing his sword.
