Chapter 610: A Scythe, dagger, clock, and a wheel?

Elliana didn’t say anything for a few seconds. She just evened her top and stood from her place, blinking her eyes to shoo her emotions that wanted to cloud her heart when all she needed was to stay strong for everyone around her.

"That I am dying slowly?" Elliana asked, her gaze hard, and Misha glared at the girl in front of her as she saw her sitting in the boss chair and swirling it.

"How can you say those words so easily? Do you even know what kind of effect-"

"So tell me what I should do?" Elliana asked Misha, cutting her off mid-sentence.

Elliana scoffed.

"Okay. Let me be sad and appear in pain. Let me show everyone how scared I am that I am going to die, leaving behind everything. How hateful I am that I had such a short life, and how much I loathe my destiny because I couldn’t even enjoy the happiness that finally knocked on my doors. Let me wail in mourning for myself because I am not only in pain, but I am also inflicting that pain on everyone close to me," Elliana paused.

"But are any of the things I mentioned going to change anything?" Elliana asked.

Misha looked down at her feet. She didn’t have any answer to the question the girl asked. She was right. Worrying about it wasn’t going to change anything. But...

"I... I didn’t mean to say that, Elliana," Misha took a deep breath before she curled her fingers and asked Elliana to come to her again.

Elliana stood from her place and walked in front of Misha.

Misha gently lifted her top once again, gulping as her hand trembled.

"I will place my hand in the middle of the mark to see what kind of mark this pain has left on your body and what the siren powers are trying to indicate, okay?" Misha asked.

Elliana nodded. Though what happened was painful, it can’t be changed either. It was better to use this opportunity to know what the powers were trying to say so that they could at least see if the powers were in her favour or opposing her.

At the end of the day, everything was meaningless, but it was better to do something than sit idle and do nothing, right?

"What are you waiting for? Do it," Elliana said, and Misha bit her lower lip.

"Well, the thing is, it might cause you pain," Misha said.

Seeing the hesitant look on Misha’s face, Elliana could guess what kind of pain they were talking about and a sigh escaped her lips.

"Well, isn’t pain the second name of my life now? Just do it," Elliana said before she asked Misha to wait.

She walked to the bed and grabbed the teddy bear Mr. Marino bought for her recently.

"Do it," Elliana lifted her top and clenched her teeth, shutting her eyes as she fisted her hands around the teddy.

"Show me what you want to say to me," Misha said to the powers that once belonged to her, and Elliana felt an excruciating pain in her body, almost making her body throw away if not for Misha’s strong hold on her hand that was keeping her in place.

A whimper left Elliana’s mouth as tears flowed down her cheeks.

’It will be over soon. It will be over soon. It will be over soon,’ She chanted in her head as she tried to think about her husband, who left earlier and asked her to recuperate soon.

No. She couldn’t be like this. She will have to endure this pain. Though she knew nothing was meaningful, at least her love for her husband was meaningful, her husband’s love for her was meaningful.

Elliana nodded at herself as another whimper left her mouth, making her want to fall on her knees and crouch her body in a cocoon shape.

Misha, who had closed her eyes to concentrate on the powers, opened her eyes, and the sign on Elliana’s body made her freeze in her place.

W-what...

A Scythe?

She gulped before she looked up at the girl whose eyes were closed. A tear slipped down her eyes that she quickly wiped.

"How long?" Elliana asked through gritted teeth.

"Just a few more seconds," Misha said before she repeated the process, hoping for the sign to change and the sign indeed changed. ƒreewebɳovel.com

This time, there were two of them, a dagger pointing at a clock and Misha’s heart thumped in her chest.

No. This can’t be. Please don’t let it be true. Misha repeated the technique for the third and last time.

Please let it be different. Misha opened her eyes, and seeing the wheel appear, she couldn’t help but remove her hand from Elliana’s belly, sitting there dazed.

"Is it done?" Elliana asked as she fell on the ground with cold sweat beads on her forehead because of all the pain she had to endure. It almost felt like she was giving birth or something.

Misha nodded with a stiff smile.

"So? What did you see?" Elliana asked when she noticed Misha wasn’t acting as positive as earlier.

There was no doubt it was something bad, but she needed to know exactly how bad it was.

"Misha, I am asking you a question. What did you see?" Elliana asked again.

"How about we call Nathaniel inside? He must be thinking what we are talking about," Misha walked to the door and called Nathaniel inside.

Elliana’s gaze darkened.

She could see Misha was avoiding the question.

"You saw a symbol related to death, pain or bad luck, right?" Elliana asked, and Nathaniel looked between Misha and Elliana, unable to understand what they were talking about.

"Elliana, stop talking about -"

"Then what the hell did you see?! If it’s not that, why are you stealing gazes from me? Just tell me the answer, will you?" Elliana asked, losing her patience with Misha, who was uselessly trying to hide the facts from her when they all knew the truth.

"I saw a Scythe, a dagger, a clock and a wheel," Misha said, and Elliana chuckled.

She laughed coldly, and Nathaniel looked at her worriedly.

"And don’t all these symbols signal towards death?" Elliana asked with a cold voice, her words making Misha look down at her feet, helpless.
