Chapter 591: What was wrong?

After performing rituals and spells for two hours, King Eros finally stepped out of the ritual circle he had drawn.

Though Azura was the queen of the dark witches, she was still someone who was assigned to the dark witches by her mother because she could perform that kind of magic and used the sacrifice first among all the three sisters. It was just the sacrifice of her blood, but it was enough to mark her fate.

However, King Eros? He was a born dark witch King. The maliciousness of sacrifices and their intensely strong powers ran in his veins.

For so many years, Arizona was able to keep him away from others because he had weakened gradually when he was trying to save his daughter, and after that Arizona created the most powerful magical realism. And to ensure he was kept imprisoned there. She would go to the magical realism almost daily and take some of his blood out, feeding him enough to stay alive.

Thus, as soon as King Eros came out of the magical realism and Azura lent some of her energies to him, his powers came back almost in full force, taking their drastic form.

More than that, he was ready to sacrifice every ounce of his Magna for his daughter who risked her life to save him from the 19 years of imprisonment, something that even his wife and son couldn’t do because they had no idea he was alive all this time.

"You can pick her up and put her somewhere warm," King Eros looked at the man whose gaze had been fixated on his wife ever since the ritual of removing the poison from her body began.

Sebastian didn’t waste a single second and rushed to the ritual circle, picking her in his arms.

Elliana, who was starting to gain consciousness, looked straight into his concerned hazel eyes and a soft smile appeared on her face.

"You look like my heart-throb husband. But he isn’t so worried all the time. He has the power to reign over the world and me. Have you seen him?" Elliana asked, and seeing her joking so casually, Sebastian shook his head and placed his forehead on hers.

"If you scared me like that again, I swear -"

"-then come and save me again. You can do that, right?" Elliana asked and Sebastian nodded as she rubbed her nose on his.

She has been shy about displaying her love to him for quite a long time. She wasn’t afraid of what anyone would think of her anymore.

Elliana cupped his cheeks and placed her lips on his, gently pecking his lips.

"Take me home. Our home," Elliana whispered, and Sebastian didn’t waste a single second before he looked at Nathaniel.

King Eros’s eyes quivered. He wanted to catch up with his daughter and talk to her about everything, but he could see that she needed rest and recuperation first. Besides, now that he was out, he had all the time in the world to talk to her.

He looked at Queen Azura, whose eyes were fixated on their daughter too.

"Elliana, about earlier -" Azura stepped ahead.

Though no one mentioned it again, she felt deeply guilty in her heart. And those words that Sebastian’s beast spoke to her, though they were heart-piercing, thinking back about what she did, she could see where he came from.

"It’s okay. I understand. Let’s not dwell on the past. Honestly, I didn’t have much hope in the ritual spell.

I had already asked Mr. Marino to share his blood with me and create the bond before the ceremony. The bond that was created with his blood and my blood in his veins wasn’t something that could’ve broken without each other’s death. He was my last resort if something bad happened. That’s why his beast was able to call me back and save me," Elliana whispered, her hands tightening around Sebastian before they left.

Azura stood there frozen in her place, unsure of what to say.

As much as she was proud that her daughter was so meticulous that she was able to nullify all the attacks from her sister by being prepared beforehand, the fact that her daughter had never put her trust in the ritual spoke a thousand words.

Seeing his wife being sad the first thing he returned, Eros’s heart stung and he walked to her.

"Azura," King Eros whispered and Azura’s gaze snapped towards him.

Her eyes brimmed with tears and she threw herself in his arms.

"I... I don’t know what to do, Eros. I found out about our daughter only a couple of months ago. Everything is so messed up that I can’t -" Azura wailed in his arms, feeling a sense of having a home or someone to take care of her after so many years.

"Please don’t be upset. Now that I am back, I will try my best to amend all the relationships that broke in my absence. Please trust me. But before all that, I want to ask for your forgiveness. It must’ve been hard on you," Eros said, hugging his woman close to his heart.

Azura hugged him back with equal emotions and seeing how the two of them needed some time alone, Nathaniel nodded at Pluto and Caesar, who nodded at each other and left, leaving the couple alone.

As soon as Nathaniel went back to the hotel near the Dark Witch kingdom, he stood in front of the window, looking at the large black star.

"What are you thinking about?" Pluto asked, looking at his friend who was standing there with complex emotions.

"Something is amiss. I don’t know what it is, but from experience, my heart is telling me that the locking of Azrael hasn’t solved our problems," Nathaniel said and Pluto furrowed his brow.

"What do you mean it hasn’t solved our problems? Azrael was the only enemy we had who was head over heels for the idea of using Eliana’s siren powers to bring back the former Vampire King so she could live with the love of her life and destroy all those people whom she hated and wanted to take revenge on. Now that Azrael is locked, what else is there?" Pluto asked.

Nathaniel shook his head.

He didn’t know how to explain this feeling. It was etched deep in his heart. It was almost as if his powers were warning him about something. That Azrael’s imprisonment didn’t bring happiness to their lives, rather it was the onset of what was going to happen now.

Nathaniel sighed, unsure.

Pluto looked at his friend and sighed before placing his hand on his shoulders.

"I understand what you are going through, Nathaniel. You guys have been fighting for so long that the thought of everything becoming alright is a bit hard to accept. Even if something is going to go wrong, stop thinking about it for the time being and just be happy that your father is back. You yearned for his love and affection. This is your time," Pluto squeezed his shoulders before he vanished into thin air.

Nathaniel’s posture didn’t relax even after Pluto said all those words.

His friend was right. Now that his father is back, he should apologize first and then make up for all the time he lost with him.

Nathaniel was about to turn around and go back to bed to have some rest before starting his new plans about how to help Elliana when his gaze fell on a leaf falling from the ancient witch plant on his desk.

It has been a long time since the tree has remained the same. But this time a leaf actually fell. What did it mean? Did it signify something?

The more Nathaniel thought about it, the more worried he became.

Something was definitely wrong.

He remembered Azrael’s words back in the cave. She was threatening Sebastian that her imprisonment wouldn’t stop anything and that it would only escalate things further.

They would never find any happiness because many things were going on inside the world that they had no idea about.

Could it be that Azrael was just a small checkpost they crossed while the main big problem in their life was ahead and still hidden?

Nathaniel thought before he shook his head and went to bed to stop overthinking about things.

As Nathaniel closed his eyes, everything that happened today, starting from the preparation of the ritual to the point when he had felt Elliana’s hand slipping from his hand, he thought about everything, and as he was scrutinizing every single detail, sensing what happened through Elliana’s powers since they were still interlinked, something caught his eyes.

Or should he say someone?

The face of the person wasn’t visible to him, but the aura around the person sitting in the corner of the magical realism could easily be seen.

Nathaniel raised his hand subconsciously to clear his vision while keeping his closed when he finally saw something distinct about the aura.

The white and purple aura and air around the person... The aura only signified that...

Nathaniel opened his eyes, his heart thumping loudly.

If Azrael was in the magical realism, and she was the one captured, the witch that they were trying to keep distracted was someone else, then where was Arizona for real?
