The Growth of a Titan-Chapter 452- Keeping Your Enemies Closer
Chapter 452: Chapter 452- Keeping Your Enemies Closer
Even though the aura around these two girls was completely different, they seemed to be close friends. As they walked by, Sol, Althorne, and Cian wordlessly shifted so they could pass. At the same time, the ship suddenly jerked slightly. From this one could tell the second carrier was about to leave for the Land of Shadows.
After feeling this sudden shake, the cheerful girl on the right turned to the calm but indifferent-faced girl on the left and said in complaint.
"I knew we should have hurried, now look what happened, the ship is about to leave when I haven’t bought the wine I wanted!"
The cold beauty furrowed her brows and responded.
"Why didn’t you buy it before we board then?"
"*Fufu*... I was so eager to visit our rooms that I forgot."
The cheerful girl sighed before adding.
"It’s going to take a month to reach the Land of Shadows, how am I going to make it that long without drinking? Isn’t there some way to get... wine?"
The cheerful girl’s nose suddenly twitched. At this point in their conversation, they were walking by Sol who was standing in front of the door to his room.
Sol had suddenly entered his thoughts when he heard the cheerful girl’s words just now, so he didn’t notice when she suddenly turned to look at him. However, a faint scent suddenly tickled his nose, and it immediately made him think of summer that wasn’t for another month.
At the same time, Sol saw a face appear in front of him, it was the cheerful girl. She was looking at his bracelets with intense curiosity. Suddenly, she looked up and asked.
"You’re that famous fellow, right? The Heavenly Descending Dragon of Jianghu?"
Sol was slightly taken aback at first, but he soon calmed down and said with a smile.
"Yes, my name is Sol, how can I help Senior Sister?"
When the cheerful girl saw Sol’s calm reaction despite her being so close, she smiled before leaning back. Suddenly, there seemed to be a distance between her and Sol despite them still being quite close.
Looking over Sol’s shoulder into his room, the cheerful girl said.
"I couldn’t help but smell the wine coming from your room, it’s quite good. Are you having friends over?"
Sol nodded as he stepped to the side for her to see inside.
The sight of a drunk and jealous Mar-Dule grabbing Byeong-ho’s collar while Cheong-su and Cheong-san tried to pry him off could be seen. At the same time, there was Ushi who was standing next to an empty chair while looking over in this direction.
The cheerful girl swept her eyes over everyone in the room before looking away. However, if one looked closely, one would have realized that her brows furrowed for a brief moment when her gaze stopped on the empty chair near Ushi.
Turning to Sol, she asked with sparkling eyes.
"Do you have any wine left?"
"What are you doing? How can you be so shameless as to ask for alcohol from your juniors."
The cold beauty suddenly walked over and began pulling away the cheerful girl, who pouted and said.
"Mai-Ning, how is that shameless?"
"Stop, let’s go."
The cold beauty whose name was revealed to be Mai-Ning, spoke sternly as she continued to drag the cheerful girl away.
However, Sol’s suddenly spoke at this moment.
"Senior Sister Yoon-ah, I have a bit of wine left."
Sol took out two jars of wine then walked over and handed one to the cheerful girl who was named Yoon-ah.
"Senior Sister Mia-Ning, here is one for you as well."
Sol said as he handed the second jar to Mai-Nin, or at least tried to. Mia-Ning didn’t take the jar. She coldly glanced at it before she looked at Sol and said.
"If this is your way of-"
"Mai-Ning, what are you hesitating for!"
Yoon-ah suddenly jumped in front of her friend before she could say something to embarrass them both. She then took the second jar from Sol and said.
"Junior Brother Sol don’t mind her; I’ll be sure to pay you back for the wine. Oh, if you that Brother of mine around tell him to stop avoiding me."
Sol nodded before waving goodbye at the two girls who turned and left.
When Yoon-ah was sure she was far away enough, she sighed and looked at Mai-Ning.
"How embarrassing! Do you think every person you meet is going to curry favor with you?"
Mai-Ning’s expression was as cold as before she responded.
"I wouldn’t put it past someone with his looks. Mother says it’s men with good looks that love to play with a girl’s heart."
Yoon-ah was already used to her friend’s strange upbringing, but she couldn’t help but smile slyly and tease her by saying.
"Mai-Ning don’t tell me you’ve fallen in love with Junior Brother Sol for his looks. But it’s too bad, Junior Brother Sol already has a cultivation partner, and she’s all everyone in the Academy can talk about!"
When Mai-Ning heard that, she suddenly paused and seemed to remember that a small commotion had happened a few weeks ago in the Academy because of a girl’s visit.
Mai-Ning then thought back on what she was about to say to Sol to reject him and her cold demeanor wilted away to be replaced by a flushed expression.
Yoon-ah giggled at her reaction before handing over one of the wine jars to her.
"Thank you."
Mai-Ning muttered softly as she took the wine jar. Both for the wine and for saving her from embarrassing herself.
Back at the room’s doorways, Sol was scratching his cheeks and smiling embarrassingly.
Even though there are Formations covering every corner of this ship that block Soul Energy and even suppress one’s senses to a certain extent, Sol’s Holy Crest’s omniscient ability to project his senses could bypass them easily.
"Brother Sol, it’s about time I take my leave, but I hope we’ll meet again."
Althorne said that as if to spite Sol for making him call him Big Brother so many times. Althorne then turned and hurried off.
"Sure, we’ll be meeting quite soon."
Sol turned to him to say before he smiled and waved him goodbye as well.
’I never understood the saying of keeping loved ones close, but your enemies closer. Is this the meaning of that phrase?
Sol could tell Althorne was purposely trying to get close to him, perhaps to learn more about him. However, Sol didn’t mind if he was. Rather than have someone scheme against him from a place he couldn’t see them, he preferred if that person was directly in front of him.
It would save him the hassle of seeking them out and putting an end to their schemes.
