The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra-Chapter 82: Gentle Affection
Chapter 82: Gentle Affection
They remained like that for a few minutes, and Arren only remembered that they weren’t the only ones in the room. However, both of them didn’t mind at all that they had shown an intense deep affection for each other in front of others or even his father.
In any case, everyone in the room knew of their relationship, so there was nothing to hide. Still, that wasn’t the case for others, especially the three doctors, as they all had complicated expressions since they ’knew too much’.
After calming down somewhat, Spade, without letting go of his hold on Arren in his arms, shifted his attention to the doctors. Instantly, the three of them became alert and stood straight.
Arren, leaning into Spade’s chest, also stared at the doctors, who all became tense under the gaze of the monarch. He also shifted his gaze toward his father, who was still sitting in his seat and watching everything unfold.
As their eyes met, the Duke only smiled approvingly at him. This time, Arren suddenly became ashamed and averted his gaze with flushed cheeks. Even with how thick his skin was, he always folded when it came to his father sometimes.
"How is Arren’s condition?" Spade asked deeply, his tone serious, which made the doctors stiffen once more.
Arren now focused his attention on the doctors. They seemed to be processing at first, and then the man who only looked in his fifties was the one who answered Spade. It appeared he was the one with the highest status among the three.
"Your Majesty," the man in the center spoke, then he cleared his throat for a moment before continuing and became more professional as he went on. "Young Master Arren’s condition is already stable, and although he still feels weak, that is only because he just woke up. With proper recovery treatment, in no time, the Young Master will recover his strength in a few days," he started, and without his voice breaking, he was a professional after all.
However, Spade didn’t interrupt him—not even with a nod. It seemed the alpha was still concerned with another thing, not just about his recovery but about his real condition, which everyone found unusual except perhaps Arren.
He already thought of it; his condition wouldn’t be detected as it had some mysteriousness within, which stemmed from his real identity as a transmigrator. However, he also couldn’t explain anything about his trauma either. Perhaps, it was the wrong conjecture to begin with?
The doctor was at a loss for words and glanced at his two companions, but they didn’t want to speak up either. For some reason, Arren could see the images of those students reporting their research to their professor but couldn’t come up with convincing evidence so each on their own.
In the end, the man in the center had to continue, otherwise, they might be yelled at by the emperor again. Arren had already woken up but who knew what would happen if they continue to dally.
"I’m truly sorry, Your Majesty. It’s just that Young Master’s condition is really unusual, and we can’t detect anything wrong. His vitals are all stable, and even his body is healthy. So... we still don’t know the true cause of Young Master’s condition." The doctor answered honestly.
It might be shameful for them as doctors to say that they couldn’t find what was wrong with a patient. However, it was better to be honest about it than to diagnose incorrectly, which would even jeopardize their integrity and credibility even more, much less in front of the Emperor himself.
Spade still had not uttered a word. Arren sighed internally and decided to help these helpless doctors. They weren’t at fault, and as an apology, he would save them from too much pressure from Spade this time.
Arren lightly tugged on Spade’s clothes; that was all he could do. Fuck, he was like some withered vegetable. Anyway, he really hated this feeling. It made him think of his months-long stay in the hospital in his previous life.
Instantly, Spade’s attention shifted to him.
"What is it? Are you feeling unwell?" The alpha asked him, his tone filled with worry.
Arren smiled and shook his head.
"No, I feel better now. And..." he looked at the doctors before returning his gaze to Spade, which was only focused on him. "Don’t be too hard on them, my condition might really be unusual, so this is not their fault," he said, convincing the alpha to stop venting his frustrations to these pitiful doctors.
With what he said, the doctors present were so moved they almost teared up. Suddenly, they looked more favorably on Arren and thought their future Empress wasn’t bad at all!
Arren didn’t care about it; he just saved them because it wasn’t their fault. Spade stared at him, and he bravely met his gaze, smiling softly, making sure to let the alpha know that he was sincere.
"Your Majesty, my son is right. We don’t need to make it hard on the doctors, and I’m sure they are working hard to find out the real reason for Arren’s condition. Am I right?" The Duke also intercepted and supported his son as he shifted attention to the three doctors.
They all nodded in no time and agreed with the Duke as if he were their saving grace.
In the end, Spade couldn’t do anything but agree. He nodded to the doctors and dismissed them after a few instructions. His father also excused himself, saying he had to settle some things, but Arren was aware his dad only wanted the two of them to be alone and talk with each other.
Not long after, only he and Spade were left in the room. The alpha was still holding him as if afraid to let go. On many occasions, Arren would really do notice that Spade would hug him like this but even more so now just like that one time when the alpha embraced as though he saw a ghost with how pale his expression was.
Now that there were only the two of them, no one wanted to speak. Arren was waiting for Spade to speak, and the other was doing the same. They were only sensing each other, or it was because they had a lot to say to each other that a few words wouldn’t be enough.
Arren swallowed and prepared himself to say anything when Spade slightly withdrew from the embrace, and while holding him, he sat in front of him in the bed.
The alpha observed him with his intimidating gaze, and yet at that moment, it was filled with hidden emotions that were about to explode any minute.
"Spade," Arren called out once again. That was the only word he managed to utter with all the things he wanted to say in his mind. He wanted to reveal to Spade his own guess for his condition and that the same thing might happen again in the future.
However, his mouth just couldn’t utter the words, and he wasn’t sure himself. Saying this too early was only alarming everyone, and worrying anyone was what he hated the most.
In a moment, Spade touched Arren’s right hand and then brought it to his left cheek. Arren could only watch as the alpha leaned into his hand slightly and brushed it against his face before kissing it gently.
Arren’s heart raced, and then he smiled.
