Chapter 71: Preparation For The Banquet (1)

Arren’s eyes widened in surprise, but not for long, and he quickly closed them and responded to the kiss. Spade instantly took control of the kiss, and his tongue teased Arren’s tongue.

At first, he was taken aback that this kiss seemed a little different from their first kiss. Since becoming together, they had only kissed once, and that was when they confirmed their relationship.

Aside from occasional flirting, no one actually took the initiative to be intimate beyond embracing each other. Even if Arren wanted to, the time they could see each other was limited, and once they were together, it was always neglected, and they only talked about anything and were already content being with each other.

This was the second, and it was different. The first one was only chaste, and they only pressed their lips together. However, at this moment, as Spade’s tongue teased his, Arren was aware that it was asking for permission.

Seriously, Arren’s heart turned warmer but also became overwhelmed with emotions even more. The alpha always respected him; damn, Arren was truly fortunate with Spade.

Arren allowed the alpha to take control of their kiss. Their tongues entangled and tasted each other, almost making Arren breathless. The alpha guided their kiss as Spade explored his mouth as if marking his territory.

His mind was beginning to be overwhelmed with sensations and was becoming muddleheaded because of the kiss. The sucking of the lips and tongue resounded in the room, as did some of the groaning that came out of his lips.

Damn, it was truly a kiss that he was almost eaten by the alpha to the point that no bones were left! And as he was beginning to get out of breath, Spade pulled slowly away from their kiss.

The silver lines from their lips glistened and stretched from one lip to the other, evidence of how intense their kiss was. Arren’s cheeks flushed, and even his eyes were slightly misty as if he still hadn’t woken up from the sensation that the kiss gave him.

He licked his lips, and for some reason, he had the feeling he could still taste the alpha’s lips on his. All of a sudden, the alpha cursed under his breath. Arren lifted his head and stared at Spade, wondering why he cussed.

The alpha then touched his lips; his amber eyes still had a tinge of desire within.

"Do you even know how beautiful you are?" Spade whispered, his voice hoarse. As their faces were still close to each other, the alpha’s voice truly made an impact inside of him.

Arren smiled, but with his cheeks flushed and those enticing phoenix eyes, his image had yet again caused a new round of ticklish sensation in the alpha’s heart.

Actually, since he was young, Arren had almost become used to someone calling him beautiful, and that he himself had forgotten how his appearance might truly be more extraordinary than most people.

However, now that it was Spade who called him beautiful, the impact was entirely different. Maybe because it was someone he liked who complimented him this time.

"Really? Do you think I’m beautiful?" he asked, grinning widely. He really had an expression of wanting to be complimented so much by his lover.

Spade’s gaze immediately softened, and he smiled before leaning in and kissing his lips again for a chaste kiss. It only took a second, and he pulled away.

"Of course, the most beautiful," Spade responded, making Arren smile proudly. Spade then grinned as well, leaning in as their foreheads touched. Arren closed his eyes, letting the comfortable feeling spread between them, and they stayed in that position for a few moments.

After the intense kiss was the affectionate action, he was content. So, it was set. They would be spending their heat and rut cycles with each other next year. Just thinking about it, Arren couldn’t stop smiling to himself.

Just like that, a week passed in the blink of an eye. Nothing changed so much. Spade was still often clingy and affectionate, and Arren knew it had something to do with last time. However, other than being more intimate than usual, there wasn’t really anything wrong with his alpha, so he chose to ignore it.

In the first place, he loved this side of Spade as well, so who was he to complain? He was still staying in the palace and studying online with Rave tutoring him.

Also, the white-haired omega seemed to be becoming comfortable with him these past few days, as he wasn’t being respectful anymore and was often sarcastic to him, especially when he was tutoring him.

Now, Arren kind of misses the old Rave; he wasn’t as cute as now. He had the feeling that the omega often called him an idiot inside, even without saying it directly to his face. He was suddenly conflicted—if only he knew. But there was no way to go back to what they used to be.

And after their first breakfast with Mother Empress Liviera, they started eating with him every day. Arren was also comfortable with him now, even though he wasn’t calling him royal mother yet. It seemed Spade’s omega father liked him so much! He didn’t know the reason why—perhaps his charms were really effective even with him.

And as part of the good news, it seemed the recovery of his foot was much faster than they initially expected. He could now walk on his own, and his foot didn’t have a bruise anymore, although it would still need a few more days for a full recovery.

Overall, it was really a peaceful week. However, this week was destined to be more eventful than the others. The reason? It was only a week away from the annual palace banquet. The palace was busier than ever, and even the nobles were already preparing for the banquet.

Speaking of which, before that didn’t have anything to do with him. But now, he had to attend.

However, Arren stopped with his thoughts and focused on who was in front of him as he had a visitor. Well, not really a visitor.

"Son, are you forgetting you have a father?" The Duke grumbled; the sulking tone in his voice couldn’t be concealed. Arren looked at his father and forced himself not to smile.

As he expected, one of these days, his father would visit him in the palace and complain about not going back home or even contacting him. Thinking about it, this was the first time that they had been away for weeks, so he could understand his father.

Even though they were in the palace, it was still questionable if the Duke always ventured deeper into the palace where the bedroom of the Emperor was located, right? So he didn’t have an excuse to visit Arren inside.

Arren apologized in his heart; it seemed the bliss had made him momentarily forget that he still had a mansion outside and a loving father waiting for his call. However, he didn’t need to admit it. He might not be good at lying, but he was extremely good at soothing the mood of his father.

"What do you mean, dad? Why will I forget about it?" He pouted and hooked his arms in his father’s arms. "Dad, I’m sorry, I just don’t want to worry you, I know that you’re busy," he tenderly reasoned out.

The Duke frowned and harrumphed.

"Just say you are so immersed in your love life that you forgot about your father," he still grumbled.

Although he said that, Arren noticed that his words and actions were still effective. In the first place, his father couldn’t stay mad at him for long.

"Father, that’s not true! Please, I’m sorry, won’t you forgive me?" He pouted and acted like a spoiled child with his father again.

In the end, the Duke was defeated again and sighed. And a smile finally emerged on Arren’s lips.
