The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra-Chapter 67: Messy Plot (2)
Chapter 67: Messy Plot (2)
"Royal Mother," Spade greeted the Mother Empress. The address might be a little unusual, but that wasn’t the case in this world. In a certain sense, the omegas were indeed the ones who gave birth to them, and calling him mother wasn’t wrong.
"Spade," the Mother Empress responded, his natural voice was soft and Arren could see Rave in him, the gracefulness of a noble omega. And then Mother Empress Liviera shifted his gaze from Spade to Arren, and he couldn’t help but be self-conscious as he slightly shrank his neck and tightened his hold on Spade.
The omega in front of him had such a weak and delicate appearance, but he was far too intimidating. Aside from the fact that he was Spade’s omega father and the Mother Empress, Arren was a little scared of him because of some events in the novel.
"Arren," the mother empress called out softly.
"A-Ah yes, I mean... Your Majesty," Arren was startled, and he couldn’t help but respond quickly, so as a result, his nervousness was completely displayed to the people present, even Spade observed him, which was also the first time Arren was intimidated by the other so much.
Arren pressed his lips nervously together; this was too embarrassing! Spade’s arms around him also tighten.
Spade opened his mouth to say something, but he was cut off by a soft chuckle from his omega father, who stared at Arren. He couldn’t meet his eyes at all.
"It’s okay, you don’t have to call me respectfully. You can also call me royal mother if you want." He said it gently, however, and there was a kind of amusement in his eyes. Even an approval that Spade managed to notice except Arren.
This statement from Spade’s omega father caught Arren off guard once more and his eyes widen.
"Y-Your Majesty, that’s a bit..." Arren wanted to argue even though he was too flustered to think of anything else to say.
Mother Empress Liviera, smiled kindly again. He looked at Arren before shifting his gaze to Spade and making eye contact; he then nodded, causing the alpha’s lips to curl into a smile. After that, he returned his gaze to the flustered omega in the arms of his son.
"Why? After you get married to my son, we’ll be a family. You’ll need to practice calling me that." Liviera said that although it was still gentle, there was a hint of teasing in his voice.
Arren became dumbfounded. Well, if Arren thought about it deeply, what the Mother Empress said wasn’t wrong, but wasn’t it too early to call him that? Although Arren didn’t notice, he ignored the most important aspect of the statement, which was marriage, because he had already subconsciously admitted that they would marry and be mates in the future.
"Royal Mother, don’t pressure Arren. He will call you that if he’s ready. Let’s eat, I’m sure you’re also hungry." Fortunately, Arren didn’t need to think about how he should respond, and Spade saved him.
Mother Empress Liviera shrugged and didn’t push Arren too much, and he agreed with Spade.
Not long after, they were already in the dining room. Arren noticed that the dining room was more intimate; the furnishings were simpler, and there was a greater emphasis on comfort. The table wasn’t very long, with only eight chairs on it. It had a homey vibe to it, which was a little out of place compared to most rooms in the palace.
Liviera was in the head seat; on his left side was Spade, and beside the alpha was Arren. And on the right side of Liviera, and in front of them, was the attendant that accompanied Liviera. Arren only found out that she was Liviera’s cousin and had been with him ever since he became the Empress. So, in a sense, she wasn’t only a royal attendant but a part of the family.
Arren could only vaguely remember that there was indeed an individual on Mother Empress Liviera’s side. his trusted right hand. Liviera’s identity was sensitive to being seen outside of the palace, so she handled most of the communication outside.
They started eating silently at first, while Arren concentrated on the food. He maintained a noble demeanor as he ate with others, aside from Spade. Arren was already flirting with the alpha if it was just the two of them.
"How about you, Arren?" This question made her snap out of his one little world and raise his gaze, especially as Spade also nudged him.
Arren looked up, filled with question marks, as he didn’t know what they were talking about. Although, he could recognize the voice of the Mother Empress asking him he didn’t know what it was about.
At some point, he suddenly became the center of attention at the table. His cheeks couldn’t help but heat up, as he was truly clueless about what was going on.
Damn! Arren almost wanted to cry. This was his most embarrassing day, really!
Fortunately, as he felt Spade’s hand caress his back, he lifted his gaze and met the alpha’s amber eyes.
"We are talking about the annual Palace Banquet, what can you suggest?" Spade informed him about the topic, and he immediately became enlightened.
Right, the Annual Palace Banquet that happened at the end of the year. Counting the days, it was usually in the second last week of the year, it was only two weeks away.
However, he didn’t have much experience with palace banquets at all. He never even stayed for more than ten minutes, so how could he share any ideas? Not to even mention that planning was a major task for him that could give him a headache.
"Uh, I’m sorry. I’m not really good at planning. So, I can’t suggest anything." Arren answered honestly. He chose to be honest, and on top of that, he might embarrass himself again with what a tragic liar he was. What could he do if the Mother Empress didn’t have a good impression of him because of it?
"It’s really okay if you can’t suggest anything, you don’t have to be sorry for it." Mother Empress Liviera assured him, and as he incidentally lifted his gaze and met the Mother Empress’ eyes, Arren could see Spade’s shadows in those eyes. So, Spade inherited his amber eyes from his omega father.
Suddenly, Arren questioned himself. Why was he so afraid of the Mother Empress Liviera? Because of his ruthless deeds in the book? He realized how awful he was once more, defining the others from the perspective of a reader. He might have grievances in his heart and become like that, but those actions couldn’t really define who he was. And at this moment, he wasn’t anyone else. He was the Mother Emperess, Spade’s omega father, and Arren’s soon-to-be-in-law.
Yet another burden was lifted from his shoulders, and Arren became more comfortable in his presence. This was noticed by the father and son. The alpha thought he saw it from before when the way Arren looked at him changed and his feelings were accepted slowly. And the other one vaguely sensed something but didn’t seem bothered by it too much. Everyone had their own secrets, and even Liviera had his own.
"I’m really sorry, but I will help as long as I can." Arren’s voice became more lively this time, and it could be said he came back to his usual self.
The Mother Empress smiled, and Spade was finally relieved that Arren was beginning to feel comfortable in his omega father’s presence.
"You don’t need to, I’m only asking. And, besides, we have a designated planner. But I just want to collect some ideas from the young people so it won’t be too traditional and old-fashioned." Liviera paused and then looked at Spade.
"Son, I can see that you want your relationship with Arren to be a secret. However, I don’t want my son-in-law to feel wrong, decide when you will announce this relationship to the empire." He went on, concentrating on gently reprimanding Sapde.
Arren blushed at Liviera’s address for him. He loved the sound of it. He watched them with a giddy smile on his lips.
Spade nodded to his father.
"I naturally have my arrangements, but this time is still not the right time. I don’t want to expose Arren too much in the public, especially as the threat against him is not yet lifted." Spade responded his right arm still around Arren and rubbing him gently in the shoulders.
Arren nodded as well to show that he also agreed with this condition. He didn’t like too much exposure to the public in the first place. Otherwise, what about his free days, his bar days? People would recognize him wherever he went.
This time, Liviera knitted his brows.
"Arren is still in danger?" he asked, somewhat confirming rather than asking. Although that might be a little confusing, that was how it sounded in Arren’s ears.
Spade didn’t deny it either. He told the truth to his omega father.
"We are still investigating it, and the one who harmed Arren before said that it is possible for the mastermind to do anything again. It might be a blabber from a madman, but I can’t take any risk."
And for a moment, Arren seemed to notice how the Mother Empress’ gaze became darker.
"Yes, it’s a good decision, son," he said, smiling. And Arren shivered from the cold.
