Chapter 58: Amos (1)

When Arren woke up the next day, he was the only one in the bed. He was a little half asleep and accidentally moved his right foot, and a slight throbbing pain immediately assaulted him. Only then did he recall what happened last night and where he was currently.

Arren carefully sat on the bed without exerting force on his injured foot; his eyes then roamed the room. Well, last night was a bit hectic for him to actually look around and admire the room.

The room wasn’t that different from a normal room; he thought Spade’s room would appear extravagant or something along those lines. He wanted to explore the room; however, it was impossible at the moment.

He leaned against the headboard, wondering where Spade had gone. Leaving him alone in his room! And while Arren was already bored and close to cursing Spade, the alpha entered the room as if on cue.

"Oh, you’re finally awake?" Spade’s voice rang, and Arren immediately looked at the room’s entrance. The alpha was there pushing a trolley with food, it seemed his dream of breakfast in bed would happen this morning. ’

He smiled and waited for the alpha as if his annoyance at the alpha leaving him alone in the room had magically vanished. It didn’t take long for Spade to reach his bed.

"How’s your foot?" Spade asked him and immediately checked his condition.

"It still hurts, but it isn’t much anymore, although it is still swollen," Arren answered and looked at his right foot. There was still an obvious bump on the top of his foot, and he could already imagine a bruise inside as well.

"Mm, we’ll visit the hospital later." Spade only responded. Arren raised his gaze and looked at the alpha. He seemed to be acting normal and wasn’t blaming himself anymore for Arren’s injury.

Arren nodded and watched the alpha arrange the food on a small table. It only took a few moments before a sly grin appeared on his lips. Arren couldn’t endure the call of nature anymore.

"Spade, I want to use the bathroom." Arren said his tone was normal, but his expression wasn’t. With just one glance, the other could see right through what he was thinking.

Spade didn’t respond immediately, and Arren spoke once more.

"I can’t walk by myself... I need to pee," Arren directly stated what he wanted to do. It wasn’t to the point yet where he couldn’t really endure it for a few moments, so he had time to flirt.

Spade sighed, and without saying anything, he carried Arren from the bed to the bathroom. This time, Arren wasn’t surprised and even laughed after the alpha carried him. He was clearly enjoying this. He had been unconscious the first two times, and his foot had been hurting the third time.

This time around, he was conscious and also had a good sleep. They were in front of the toilet in no time. Spade looked at it and then at Arren, who only sheepishly smiled at him.

"Can you stand on your own?" Even though he already knew what Arren would say, Spade still asked.

"What do you think?" Arren then pursed his lips, "I’m already at my limit, just... support me." he said, innocently blinking his eyes at the alpha.

Spade shook his head, and what was he supposed to say after that? And even if Arren didn’t say it, he also had no intention of letting the omega stand on his own, as he was worried Arren might slip.

The alpha then slowly put Arren on the floor. While Arren holds Spade’s shoulders and uses them as his support.

"Careful," Spade said, and he immediately wrapped his right arm around the omega’s waist.

Arren also clung to the alpha’s waist and was careful not to use too much force on his injured foot. However, for some reason, they both remained silent. And they only stared at the toilet bowl in front of them as if they were waiting for something.

He glanced at Spade and smiled before saying, "I’ll start now." There was a hint of teasing in his tone. With what he said, he almost saw the alpha’s face twitch.

Even Arren almost laughed at how hilarious it was; he didn’t know. He really liked teasing and flirting with the alpha. Even before, when he only thought that Spade was a royal investigator, it was perhaps because of Spade’s always stern and calm expression that Arren wanted to mess up with him.

"Just... do it," Spade calmly told him; if he didn’t know any better, he might be convinced. However, with the current expression of the alpha, Arren was aware he was only forcing himself to be calmed.

Arren pressed his lips together and tried hard not to laugh, but finally decided to go about his business. Since, he really couldn’t endure it any longer.

Trusting Spade that he wouldn’t let go of him, Arren removed his hold on the alpha’s waist to make it more convenient for him to do what he needed to do.

However, before that, he didn’t forget to sneakily peek at the alpha at his side. Spade’s face was fixed to the side, and not looking at him, Arren couldn’t help but smile. Why was his alpha so cute?

It wasn’t like the alpha wouldn’t see everything in the future. In fact, he was the one who was supposed to be embarrassed at this moment. Arren shook his head and stopped himself from teasing Spade once more before going on with his business.

If he did tease Spade, Arren had the intuition that he was the one who would be crying in the end, so he might as well have known when to stop. He wasn’t seeking death yet.

After that, Arren was strangely behaved and called the alpha when he was truly ready, which Spade didn’t bother commenting on; otherwise, the omega might act up again.

The alpha also helped him with what he still wanted to do in the bathroom, like washing his hands and face and even brushing his teeth. Arren was really satisfied with how Spade was extremely attentive and helped him throughout.

How was he so lucky that his lover was that considerate? Arren could only be thankful he wasn’t so stubborn about sticking with being extra any longer. If not, all these things would only be a dream.

Like earlier, Spade also carried him to the bed and carefully sat him on it. Arren made himself comfortable and waited for Spade to prepare the breakfast in front of him.

"I already called the Duke, so you don’t have to worry; he will visit you here later," Spade informed him after finally finishing transferring all the food from the trolley to the small table.

Arren nodded to show that he understood. He could only sigh; his father was probably extremely worried about him again. He just promised him that he wouldn’t make him worry again. Well, at least Spade was with him. Otherwise, his father had long caused a commotion last night.

"What time are we going to the hospital?" he inquired, then, as if realizing this, Arren glanced at the alpha and added, "I mean... if you’re available, that is."

He didn’t know if the alpha had prior schedules, and Arren didn’t want to get in the way of Spade’s responsibility as an Emperor.

It seemed the alpha was also aware of his reservations, and Spade smiled and stroked his chin affectionately.

"There is nothing really urgent with my schedule for today, and I already rescheduled them." Spade stated and gazed seriously at Arren, "I hope you know how important you are to me, so don’t feel burdened, okay?" He grasped Arren’s hand and squeezed it gently.

Arren bit his lips and nodded. He was in a rare moment of not knowing what to say. The feeling of being loved wasn’t new to him; he was blessed to have loving and caring parents for both of his lives, and he thought he really wasn’t lacking in that area. He truly did; however, it was just... the love that a lover could give was really entirely different from a parent’s.

Spade, under Arren’s gaze, kissed his hand.

"I’ve been a responsible Emperor to the Empire for twelve years, and I think it isn’t wrong to finally focus on myself after my years of hard work." fгeewebnovёl.com

Spade truly thought so; the Empire wouldn’t fall into ruin immediately if he prioritized his lover over it for a day or even a week. He wanted to spend his time with Arren as much as he could. This was his first time falling in love, and he wanted to cherish his omega. Anything could wait if it wasn’t truly urgent.

Arren could only agree. That touching episode ended with both of them having smiles on their lips. It seemed that with each passing day, the connection they had with each other was also growing steadily.

Then they started eating together, occasionally talking about anything. Arren also remembered Rave and Levin. Detaining them for too long wasn’t a good idea.

"About Rave and Levin... what will you do with them?" He only probed and didn’t directly say to release them immediately. Their detention was quite reasonable after all.

Spade stared at him, as if wanting to know what he was thinking, but Arren only smiled brightly.

"I’ll talk to them later," he responded vaguely.

"We. I want to listen too," Arren then smiled, and with that, it was finalized.

They would both listen to Rave’s interrogation. Arren wasn’t sure if the omega would cooperate at all. Rave was really... a little untrusting and stubborn. In the novel he read as well, the root of the misunderstanding between Levin and him was this personality trait of his.

Spade could only shake his head and watch Arren happily continue eating. The omega seemed to realize he was weak with his smile—what could he say—because he truly was.
