Chapter 56: Club Adventures (4)

Arren listened to the conversation with so much interest that it was like watching a movie scene. If only the situation wasn’t so dire, a bowl of popcorn would really complete his look at the moment.

He was really excited to know more. Since he wasn’t paying attention to their storyline in the original novel that much. Arren wasn’t very updated on where their interactions had gone so far. However, he knew that the original plot in the novel had already started.

So, he wasn’t that surprised that they already knew each other. The only thing about which he was curious was that it seemed their involvement with each other had progressed much faster this time around than in the novel.

Arren continued to watch everything with keen interest.

Spade had yet to say anything to what Levin had said when Rave immediately reacted.

"What are you saying? I came here of my own accord," Rave said with a slightly higher tone. He then looked at Spade and lowered his head, "Chief Levin didn’t know that I’d come here. I will accept my punishment."

This time, it was Levin who was taken aback, and he was about to argue again when Spade spoke. The excitement that Arren was feeling at the moment increased; it seemed he forgot the pain in his foot with how much he was enjoying listening to them.

The two of them defending each other made him giddy; it was like watching your favorite ship up close. Although he tried so hard not to smile and interrupt them by saying they had to continue.

"Levin broke the rule of not disclosing the mission to outsiders, and for that, he will be punished." Spade began, and the two of them couldn’t speak and only listened.

Arren really wanted to interrupt Spade for ruining the good scene. However, what Spade was the truth. Since, technically, Rave was an outsider at this time. He was only independently investigating about his family himself, not to mention he was on the suspicious list that needed to be investigated.

"You... Rave Amos, will be taken for further questioning." Spade continued. Arren even noticed that Levin was about to protest but didn’t do so in the end. "After this matter is over, we’ll talk. The two of you have to be in custody for now." Spade ended his verdict.

They both nodded without much of an argument. In the Empire, the Emperor’s words were still the law. Arren observed the two of them, and he tightened his hold on Spade. He truly wanted to say something, but doing so would be invalidating Spade’s authority.

Whatever. The two of them wouldn’t be in custody for long, and Arren was sure they could easily prove their innocence, especially Rave. Perhaps this situation wasn’t that bad. Rave being a part of the official investigation was a crucial step,—no, but perhaps the most important step they had to take.

It was pushed up, but Arren didn’t care that much. Everything would be a mess in the end anyway. Laying cards out at the beginning was better than being caught off guard.

After reprimanding the two, Spade’s attention shifted once more to him. Arren also turned his eyes from the two and met Spade’s gaze. He smiled and nodded. He didn’t say anything, but it was already an affirmation of his decision.

After staring at each other for a while, Spade finally went with his original intention, checking the condition of Arren’s foot. Arren also didn’t have time to pay attention to the two at the side and fixed all his attention on Spade.

Spade slowly crouched down, and Arren put his hands on the alpha’s shoulders as support. Spade then carefully removed his shoe from his right foot, and the condition of his foot became visible in an instant.

It could only be barely seen because of the dark surroundings, but it was obviously in bad condition; it was swollen. Perhaps, some of his fingers as well.

Arren hissed from the pain after the alpha touched his foot.

"It hurts," he immediately complained. Although he could endure the pain, he didn’t know for how long either.

"Sorry," Spade apologized, staring at his foot for a few moments before standing up without putting his shoes back on.

Arren waited for the alpha, and their eyes met. "I can’t let you walk in this state," he said, and without letting Arren prepare himself, Spade already carried him in his arms like a princess once more.

Arren couldn’t help but yelped from the surprise; he didn’t anticipate this at all.

"Hey, Spade! What are you doing?" He shouted; being carried like this still made him blush.

"What? I’m carrying you. It wasn’t the first time," Spade responded nonchalantly, and he began his steps. Not to mention the two on the side, whom Arren had almost forgotten by this point due to their silence.

Arren looked at the two, who didn’t respond, and then followed Spade. He then returned his gaze back to Spade, and in this position, he could closely observe Spade’s face.

His cheeks heated up, but eventually, he only tightened his hold on Spade’s shoulders.

"What do you mean, it’s not my first time?" He asked after a while, leaning his head on the alpha’s shoulders while his strong arms securely carried him.

Arren didn’t pay attention to their surroundings at all; at this point, even what was going on inside the club had become the least of his concerns.

Spade lowered his head and glanced at him; a ghost of a smile appeared on his lips. "How do you think I carried you to the hospital or the hotel?" He didn’t explicitly answer, but it was enough for Arren to take a hint.

He parted his lips and looked at Spade.

"You mean?" Arren asked although he had already imagined the image in his mind. So, counting them all, it was already his third time being princess carried?

Spade didn’t respond and only nodded with a slight arch on the corner of his lips. Arren was affected and also smiled; he comfortably leaned on Spade and shut his eyes.

He wasn’t bothered by being carried in this manner for long; he was only surprised the first time and quickly accepted it. His foot also began to throb once more, but he kept silent.

This night was not over, however, and Arren’s energy was already depleted.

It didn’t take long for them to reach where the cars were parked. Arren slightly opened his eyes and looked to the side. Some royal guards were also there.

"Chief Levin was temporarily relieved of his position for breaking a rule," Spade started. Arren noticed how everyone flinched and was surprised, but Spade continued without minding the others’ reactions.

"He will be in custody for now, together with the royal attendant, Rave Amos." He paused slightly and glanced at the club’s entrance, which was not far from where they were.

Arren also glanced in that direction; the commotion had already subsided and was fully under control. However, Arren could already imagine the headlines the next day regarding this incident. A lot of people were injured, not to mention the chaos that Curt caused.

Some reporters were also coming one after the other to report the news.

"The target managed to escape. We apologized."

Hearing that Curt had managed to escape, Arren could only swear inside and sigh. That cockroach really lived up to his name. Even in reality, his undead halo persisted. This was truly incredible.

Spade didn’t say anything for a while, and then he turned away and, with Arren in his arms, started his steps once more.

"We’ll talk tomorrow. For now, clean this mess first." that was the last thing he said before he entered the car with Arren.
