Chapter 245: Gift

The night turned out fine; it was amazing. Arren was truly happy and grateful to celebrate his birthday this year. After all, they have experienced a lot of things lately, and that will continue in the coming days or even months.

To be able to celebrate his birthday with his loved ones was already enough to be thankful for. Since this day, Arren has had a different outlook on his birthdays, and he was sure not to take this day for granted again.

Aside from the dinner and cake, they also gave him gifts. Arren wasn’t really expecting much on the outside, but deeper inside, he was actually anticipating the gifts they prepared for him, as though it was his first time receiving any gift in his life.

Still, Arren was consistent with his opinion that, when it comes to material things, he really couldn’t think of what he wanted as he already had everything.

However, once he had already unwrapped their gifts, Arren grinned but also nervously unwrapped the gifts carefully. He first opened his father’s gift. Every year, his father always gave him a gift, and it was nothing new. However, it continued to excite him each year.

The two only watched him eagerly open the gift. It was only a small box, and Arren already guessed it was some jewelry, but when he saw what was inside the box, his eyes widened slightly, and he turned to his father in disbelief.

"T-This..." Arren opened his mouth to speak, but because of his shock, he stuttered and couldn’t even finish what he was supposed to say. The Duke only chuckled at his reaction, which seemed he already expected.

Duke Evan nodded at his son, his smile not leaving his lips. He slightly glanced at Spade, who was also amused by seeing Arren’s reaction to his father’s gift.

Arren was really stunned at the gift that he had to touch the real things in his hands to make sure he wasn’t dreaming! He also grabbed the picture that was with the key.

He stared at the burning gaze in the picture while gripping the key in his other hand. What was in the picture was what he always wanted and had been asking for permission from his father to buy.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t buy it with the funds in his hands, but that his father was always opposed to this hobby of his. It was a motorcycle; to be accurate, it was such a beautiful big bike that Arren has been fantasizing about it ever since.

Aside from partying, Arren also had a hobby of riding a motorcycle, whether it was for racing or some trails; he also experienced those. However, unlike with partying, the Duke strongly opposed this, so Arren had no choice but to stop or just occasionally ride his beloved motorbikes whenever he had the opportunity, and it was rare.

And no, his father was gifting him his dream big bike!

He slowly lifted his head and looked at his father again.

"Dad..." he called out and paused as though unsure. "It’s really for me?" he asked slowly, but the fervent gaze couldn’t hide his desire for the gift that the duke gave him.

The Duke laughed and nodded slowly, feeling amused. "Of course, it’s yours, son."

Arren, who had now finally grasped reality, stood up in a hurry and delightedly embraced his father like a kid.

"Thank you so much, Dad! I love you so much!" Arren didn’t even care to express his affection to his father and acted like a spoiled child in front of Spade. He was that happy! And even if he were sane, Arren wouldn’t be ashamed as well; it wasn’t like Spade didn’t know this side of him.

"Now, now. Aren’t you so happy, my son?" The Duke jokingly said as he noticed how happy his son was receiving his gift.

Arren laughed this time, grinning sheepishly, and withdrew from the hug. freewёbnoνel.com

"But I’m really so happy, Dad!" he exclaimed, and he even shook the key in front of him with an excited expression.

Although happy for his son, the Duke still reminded him with a stern expression. "Son, I’m sure you know I already trust you enough not to be reckless with this gift of mine, right?"

Arren didn’t mind and promised without hesitation.

"Of course, Dad. I promise I won’t do racing anymore." While saying that, he also took a peek at his alpha, who was watching from the side. He knew that even if he wanted to do so, his father wasn’t the only one who would reprimand him this time.

And his motto of living his life without regrets remained, but there was no need to be reckless for him to do that. All of them had a satisfied expression after that. Arren carefully put the key inside the box again.

And for the next one, Spade’s gift for him. For some reason, his hand suddenly became cold, and he became nervous. Perhaps because it was his first time receiving a gift from a loved one, he had a slightly different feeling than opening a gift from his father.

Looking from the outside, it was also a small box that might give away what it was. However, considering his father gave him something unexpected from his initial guess, Arren wasn’t entirely sure what it was.

He made eye contact with Spade first; he had a questioning gaze that was asking his alpha what was inside. As usual, Spade had a calm expression on his face, but he was staring intensely at him and waiting for him to open the gift.

With curiosity in his eyes and some nervousness yet anticipation in his gut, Arren decided to unwrap the gift again before the eyes of the men in his life.

Slowly, he ripped the wrapper, and a small, plain box appeared before his eyes. Arren’s heart throbbed; he hadn’t opened the box yet but looked up again at Spade, who now looked serious for some inexplicable reason.

However, seeing Arren’s gaze on him, Spade nodded at the omega as though making him relax. It was quite odd since Arren was only opening his gift.

Arren swallowed and focused on Spade’s gift; he also stopped his mind from formulating some guesses on what it was. Once he had already opened the box, his brow couldn’t help but quirk up with some confusion rising from inside him.

Although he was confused, Arren still picked up what was inside the box. When he took it out of the box, it even shimmered from the light; the small jewels around it sparkled, but what was eye-catching was still a big diamond inlaid at its handle.

With puzzlement, he looked at Spade. "A key? For what key is this?" he asked. Inside of him, he was already wondering what this trend of giving him a key as a gift was.

Earlier, it was his father who gave him the key to his dream bike, and now it was Spade who also gave him a key! And unlike the key from earlier, which was obviously a key for a vehicle, the key in his hand this time looked so extravagant to be called a normal key, as though it were also some kind of expensive jewelry for royalty.

Just the fact that there were jewels and diamonds inlaid on this key was enough to conclude it like that.

As he looked at Spade, Arren didn’t notice how his father’s face changed as soon as he saw that key.
