Chapter 215: Loyalty Vs. Filial Piety (6)

Levin didn’t know where his feet actually led him; he was wandering without a direction in mind aside from finding a place that could make him breathe normally again.

He let out a painful chuckle, mocking himself. Escape. That was all he could do. His hands clenched into a fist, and he bit his lips until he tasted blood.

In fact, he couldn’t even feel any physical pain, as though he had gone numb, but it was all accumulating emotionally so that no matter where he went, his mind was still in chaos. The suffocation sensation didn’t diminish in the slightest.

His footsteps stopped, and he raised his head. Unknowingly, his feet carried him all the way to the palace. Levin stared at it, unsure if he should go in.

There was a lot of confusion in his mind, but one thing became clear to him at once. The reason why His Majesty had become so cold to him that he started isolating him. Specifically, the reason why he didn’t... trust him anymore.

His lips trembled as he bit them hard; he wasn’t sure what he was doing there at first, and eventually, he also realized why he had come here subconsciously.

Levin would face it here, and he didn’t want to wait for a summons or know where he could hold on.

Having decided this, despite the fear that made his knees weak and the cowardice that shrouded him again, Levin took a heavy step forward.

Even if what he would talk about with Spade could shake him to the core, he needed to do this.

He hadn’t taken a few steps when he suddenly stopped. His heart skipped a beat, and he blinked. There in front of him stood someone who was special in his heart.

Levin didn’t have a lot of possessions; he never cared about status, the noble title, or the throne. Growing up, he only strived for one thing, and that was to stand by Spade’s side. He escaped desperately from a predestined fate and climbed what should have been unattainable for someone like him.

He wasn’t that exceptional for a dominant alpha; his capabilities were also enough to uphold who he was, and despite that, he did his best to hide his flaws by his casual personality.

Only... For the first time, Levin met someone that he wanted to pursue and strive to be with. However, he didn’t have enough courage to express his feelings openly. He could tell, the other wasn’t ready for it.

"Chief Levin," the omega’s voice captivated him, his eyes not leaving his face.

Levin swallowed, forced a small smile, and waved his hand, "Rave, long time no see."

Arren looked through the window; he was already in his pajamas, the pair he bought. Some of his things were also delivered earlier, as per his instructions, since he really decided to return to the palace on this day.

He looked at the sky; there weren’t a lot of stars in it, and the clouds shrouded them from being seen by the naked eye. It seemed like it was going to rain this evening.

Arren hugged himself and rubbed his hands on his shoulders, aiming for friction to warm himself. Suddenly, a warm embrace engulfed him again from behind.

He smiled and arched his neck, raising his gaze and looking at his alpha, holding Spade’s hand around him as well.

"It’s cold here. Let’s go inside?" Spade asked him gently and also looked at the skies before returning his gaze to him. "It’s going to rain."

Arren shook his head and turned around so that they were facing each other while the warm embrace remained. He scooted closer and rubbed his face in Spade’s chest, enjoying being in the alpha’s arms.

Spade only chuckled, tightened his hold on the omega, and kissed the crown of his head. They stayed like that for a few minutes before Spade insisted they go inside since the wind was getting colder and the rain was threatening to fall any minute.

He didn’t persist and obediently went inside. He didn’t want to get sick now because of his stubbornness.

It was like the alpha was a prophet since it had not even been a minute since they went inside the room when the raindrops fell until it quickly poured heavily.

Arren stopped his footsteps and couldn’t help but watch the rain while holding Spade’s hand. He was so mesmerized by it for a while that he fell silent. A few seconds later, he turned his head and glanced at the alpha that was on his side, easily meeting his eyes, for Spade was looking at him.

He smiled and without an ounce of shame threw himself in the alpha’s arms, giggling as he spoke with coyness in his tone, "Spade, it’s cold." Arren wasn’t exactly shivering or feeling cold either; it was even quite refreshing, but was he still himself if he wasn’t taking this opportunity to act spoiled to his lover?

Spade lowered his head and looked at his face. An amused smile graced his lips. He quickly noticed Arren’s act. Instead of exposing the omega, he tightened his hold on him, wrapping his arms securely around Arren.

He hummed as a response, smiling, and spoke softly, "I’ll warm you up."

As soon as he said that, Arren lifted his head and faced him. His lips were now arched up into a playful smile, and his eyes were filled with menacing intentions. Count on Arren to give special meaning to a complete, soft, and innocent statement.

"Oh?" With his smile unwavering on his lips, his brows rose, and he leaned closer, resting his chin on Spade’s chest as he looked up at him. "How can you warm me up, Mister?"

Spade didn’t respond momentarily, but he was also already smiling, pulling Arren closer to his body. He also leaned closer, and whispered in between their warm breaths, "It depends on how you want me to warm you up."

Arren’s grin widened, and he laughed before he whispered something, only audible in Spade’s ears, which also made the alpha chuckle. On an evening when rain was pouring heavily outside, two bodies entangled in the bed to ’warm’ each other up, courtesy of Arren’s teasing.

A few hours later, it was still raining outside, and it seemed it wouldn’t cease any time soon. Arren, who sat in Spade’s lap, had a blanket draped over his body, the only cloth covering his naked body. They sat in front of the balcony window, watching the rain after a round of ecstasy.

Spade held Arren tightly, and satisfaction filled his expression. It was as though there wasn’t a storm that would come their way a few days from now. Whenever he was with Arren, he could relax his mind; each time, this statement was always proven.

He nuzzled his nose into Arren’s neck, which was blemished by his love marks. Spade breathed the omega’s pheromones, the same way he enveloped Arren with his own.

For the past few minutes, they have been engrossed in the aftermath of their pleasure, taking in the atmosphere.

Arren’s eyes were already drooping, as he was already sleepy and exhausted. Not to mention that it was raining, which heavily influenced his lazy mind to drape himself in the covers of his bed and comfortably rest.

However, he stubbornly resisted this urge. Honestly, in these times when they just finished making love, Arren would become more emotional than usual. At times, it was also where he wanted to let Spade rely on him as well.

A rare moment, which wasn’t really rare now, of vulnerability and his courage combining together. It was weird to call it that, or it might seem unmatched, but Arren thought of it that way.

"Spade," Arren called, his voice low and hoarse. He was someone who let out his pleasure and wasn’t hiding it in the slightest, as he let the alpha know how much he loved being filled by him, so he was loud when they were doing it. So, on many occasions, he was almost out of his voice after.

Sometimes, he also often used dirty talk to agitate Spaade even more. One thing he liked about making love when they were sober was that Arren, paired with his self losing to pleasure, could still think clearly and speak his mind, such as if he wanted it fast or slow.

More often than not, Spade would kiss him fiercely and speed up to shut him up, but he had the hunch the alpha actually liked it since his desire always got bigger inside of him.

Spade hummed and brushed his hair. There were also signs of sleepiness in it.

"Can I ask you something?" Arren rarely asked for permission; if he did, it was for something serious. He then turned and looked at Spade.

Spade nodded and smiled, "Of course, you can." He had a guess of what Arren would ask him. There was no need to keep it a secret, as Spade intended to let the Omega know about it in the first place.

In times like this, there wasn’t a perfect situation to ask about it. It had been lingering in his mind, and now that he was exhausted but much clearer in his mind, he opted to ask now.

"When will you speak with Levin?" Arren asked. Since he met him earlier, he has been seriously pondering this. If it was only him, he really didn’t want their relationship to change. However, he didn’t know the whole truth, nor was he in Spade’s shoes, so it wasn’t up to him.

The alpha touched his jaw, and responded, giving Arren the impression that he had already anticipated it, or perhaps he really did.

"I’m only waiting for him."

Spade never planned to summon Levin; he was only waiting for him to come and talk to him. He didn’t know when, but it could be sooner than he expected.
