Chapter 27: Chapter 27

Althea began to pace back and forth in front of the door.

Something was wrong—something was definitely wrong. Since the beta arrived, nothing has been going right. Keelion, on the other hand, had begun behaving strangely, distant for no reason.

Balling her hands into fists, she stormed off, steps heavy. "Augustus! Augustus!" She was shouting the man’s name enough that he had to step out of the male dorm he shared with Lyndon.

It was located within the main building as personal staff like he and Lyndon didn’t have to stay in the male’s quarter.

He shut the door behind him and glanced at her in confusion. "What can I help you with, ma’am?"

"Where is he?" Althea questioned.

Augustus arched his brow. "Where is who?" freēnovelkiss.com

"The beta. Where is he?"

He glanced at the door behind him and let out a soft breath. "Why do you ask?"

"Do I have to give you a fucking explanation before you tell me what I want to know?" She glared murderously at him, stepping into his space. "I am the alpha’s luna, and when I ask you a question, Augustus, you’re going to—"

"Correction, ma’am, you are the alpha’s potential luna. You are not one yet, and since you are not, I only answer to the alpha and no one else. Certainly not you."

Althea stared at him like he’d lost his mind. "Are you...are you talking to me that way?"

"It’s already respectable enough for me to stand here, answering your questions. I don’t deem that disrespectful in any way."

"Do you think I can’t make you pay for this? You’re fucking looking down on me! I come to this place and go as I want, the alpha regards me, everyone knows that no matter what, I am going to be his Luna, so you might as well regard me as one. Because if you continue with this disrespect, you’ll be the first person I get rid of once my title is given to me!"

Every part of her was vibrating with threat.

Augustus, on the other hand, didn’t seem bothered; instead, he said, "If there is nothing else, I would like to take my lea—"

"Where is he? Answer my question, Augustus!" Althea shoved roughly against his chest, unable to control her anxiety. "He’s in that room with Fane, isn’t he?"

Augustus frowned at her.

"What are you talking about? Why would he be with the alpha? They don’t have a relationship, nothing is going on between them. He is simply someone he picked up because his father requested it. I’m not sure...what you’re insinuating."

"Then where is he, huh?"

"Right in here." He nodded to the dorm. "There are three of us who share this dorm now. And the so-called beta is fast asleep. I’m not sure what you’re paranoid about."

"Oh, so now you’re indirectly calling me crazy?" She stepped up closer to him. "Let me see then. Let me check the room—"

"You can’t do that, ma’am." The pissed-off look in Augustus’s eyes was more than clear.

But Althea was equally agitated. "Meaning what?" she questioned. "What do you mean I can’t?"

"This is a male-owned dorm. Our private space—you don’t have any right to take a step inside, not unless we agree to it. You are not the alpha, and you are certainly not his Luna... YET," Augustus explained, emphasizing. "So please stop and step back."

She stared at him and lowered her head to chuckle dryly in disbelief. "This must be fun for you, isn’t it? Humiliating me?"

"Whatever you may like to call it."

She rapidly began nodding her head, turning her back against him, before looking at him again. She half smiled. "Fine. I won’t step into your PRIVATE SPACE. So call him out, I’d like to have a talk with him."

"No can do," Augustus outrightly refused.

"Meaning what?"

"He is asleep, and it’s his right. You can’t call him out. I mean, the staff has been busy the entire day. I’m not going to wake him up for this, not unless the order comes from the alpha. But maybe in the morning, you can speak to him as you wish."

He didn’t wait for a response from her and turned around, stepping into the room, and slamming the door shut in her face.

Althea stood there, staring into nothing for close to two minutes in pure incredulity. This must be a joke. It had to be a joke.

"Augustus!" She banged on the door. "Augustus, open this door!!"

No one responded, not even Lyndon, who was most definitely awake.

She angrily ran her fingers through her blonde hair, aggravated and unable to control her emotions that were sizzling up inside of her. Her hands clenched and unclenched, and she stormed off to her room, hurrying to the door and pushing it open.

Althea picked up her phone and immediately dialed her father’s number.

[Althea?] Mr. Eliot spoke on the other side of the phone.

"Dad? Dad, we have to do something!"

[What’s wrong? Talk to me]

"We need to do something, Dad. We need to act. T-this is getting out of hand." Her voice sounded shaky as if she were panicking.

The man was silent on the other side of the phone, before speaking again. [If you do not explain to me, Althea, I can’t understand what the problem is. What is this all about? Would you like to come home tomorrow so we can talk?

"No, we have to talk now."

[Then what is the problem?]

"We have to do something about that beta, Dad. He’s trouble. Two weeks here, and he’s making me paranoid. Keelion is showing too much attention to him, it’s almost like I don’t even exist anymore. He’s going to ruin everything—everything, Dad, every damn thing for me!"

She breathed. "I worked so hard to be here, to get this spot. I fought hundreds for this—to be chosen, and I’m not going to let some random beta ruin it for me. I don’t care if we have to kill him. Anything at all, just—j-just get rid of him! I beg you."

[Okay, good of you to call immediately. Now you need to calm down, alright? I’m going to grab enough information on him. You said he’s Ruderth’s son, right?]

Althea nodded her head. "Yes, yes he is."

[You have nothing to worry about. I’ll get information on him, we might even find something that might get rid of him without us bloodying our hands. Just give me time, I’ll fix this. Over my dead body will anyone cost you that spot next to Keelion Fane. It doesn’t matter how far I have to go, do you understand me?"

"Yes." Althea exhaled. "I do."

[Good, keep an eye on him while I’m on it.]
