Meanwhile, a few thousand miles away from the Central Continent, deep in the vast ocean that surrounded Nexara, something massive moved slowly beneath the waves.

From the surface, it looked like a regular island, full of trees, hills, and rocky cliffs. Birds flew over it, fish swam around it, and mist rolled across its edges like normal.

But this wasn't an island. It was the shell of a giant turtle.

A sea turtle with a shell nearly 300 meters in diameter and a length of 500 meters. Its skin was dark green and covered with a thick layer of algae and barnacles, while its shell was a beautiful swirl of blues, greens, and browns.

The turtle didn't move much. Its body floated slowly just under the sea's surface, but its movements created powerful currents in the water. Waves crashed against the sides of its shell, and whirlpools formed in its wake.

Its eyes closed, and its breath calm. If you looked close enough, you'd see that something was off. Its eyes didn't have the calm, wise look of a creature that old. Instead, they were blank, like it wasn't really awake. That's because the turtle wasn't in control of itself anymore.

Despite the chaos, there was a calmness and order to its movements, like a massive ship moving through the water.

This turtle was one of the top leaders of the beast faction, a creature that had lived for more than 70 years before the world merged, and now due to the world merge and the upgrade, the power it had was on par with most of the top human cultivators.

Its shell was wide enough to hold a small city, and for many generations, beasts had made it their home.

In the center of the shell stood a huge ancient building, black and silver, covered in strange patterns that glowed faintly with spiritual energy.

No one knew who built it, not even the oldest beasts, but everyone who stepped inside could feel the weight of its history.

The doors were massive, easily big enough to fit a dragon or a giant, and they were always open, welcoming anyone who wished to enter.

Inside was a huge, open space with a domed ceiling. In the center was a stone platform with a ring of seats surrounding it, like a council chamber or a courtroom.

The walls were covered in paintings, but it is hard to make out wither due to its age or due to its complexity which is beyond any mortal or cultivator to understand.

In the back was a spiral staircase leading up into the shell, while two long halls stretched out from either side, leading deeper into the structure.

This is the main base for the newly formed Beast faction that had never appeared before the World upgrade, and the turtle was one of its founding members.

But did it do it out of free will?

No.

Years ago, when the turtle was still evolving into this massive form, a strange psychic beast had found it.

A psychic beast that had powerful mental abilities, and it tricked the turtle while it was weak.

The turtle didn't realize what was happening, and before it could react, the psychic beast had entered its mind and taken over.

Now, the turtle acted like a puppet, a tool used by the psychic beast to move the beast faction's most secure headquarters wherever they needed it.

And inside the building on the turtle's back, several powerful beasts were gathered.

One beast, a lion with golden fur and red eyes, was chewing on the leg of a giant boar, blood dripping down its jaw as it ate loudly and without manners.

Another beast, a silver-scaled serpent with wings, coiled around one of the large pillars, its tongue flicking out every few seconds. It was watching the others with cold eyes, clearly bored but not in the mood to start a fight—yet.

In one corner, two bear-like beasts were wrestling, slamming each other into walls and laughing like children. But surprisingly, none of this caused any damage to the walls.

Near the center of the room, on a large platform surrounded by glowing stones, sat a tall humanoid beast covered in black feathers. It was meditating, its aura strong and steady.

This was the current acting leader of the beast faction, chosen because of his strength and because no one else could beat him in a fight for the position. He didn't speak much, but when he did, others listened.

Around the platform, several other powerful beasts stood or lounged, some speaking quietly among themselves while others watched the brawl between the bears or the snake coiling around the pillar.

Suddenly, the door opened, and the psychic beast, the core figure and possibly the read controller of the faction, arrived.

It didn't walk like the others. Instead, it floated slightly above the ground, its body glowing with strange lights.

It had no fixed form—sometimes it looked like a fox, sometimes like a shadowy blur. However, its eyes, which were bright purple and never blinked, never changed.

When the psychic beast entered the hall, most of the noise stopped.

Those who had been fighting now stood at attention, while those who had been talking respectfully quieted and lowered their heads.

The leader of the beast faction was the only one who remained seated, his aura unchanged.

After floating to the center of the room, the psychic beast spoke, its voice echoing unnaturally.

"There's something we need to talk about," it said, its voice smooth and echoing like it came from many mouths at once. "The humans. They are not reacting the way we expected."

The lion growled, wiping its mouth. "What's the problem? We've sent enough beasts to crush any city by now."

The psychic beast turned its head toward him. "That's just it. The humans seem to be holding their ground, and some have even caused the beast tides to go extinct in such a short period of time.

On every continent. Even in the Southern Continent, where we have not seen any actual life, the beasts seem to be facing traps that were placed there by someone, as for who they are, I are not sure.

But I can say for sure that it cannot be human as the traps over there are more primitiave and close to nature."
