Shadows of the Deep Space-Chapter 39 - Gu Meng
39: Chapter 39 Gu Meng
39 -39 Gu Meng
“Sorry, all the Mecha Simulation Training Machines are full.
And there’s someone waiting behind almost each pod, you can only book one simulation training pod now but it’ll be available only after five hours.”
Liu Zhi responded with a laugh.
Su Ming and Lin Chuyu heard Liu Zhi’s words and also felt a bit of a headache, the thing they were most worried about had indeed happened.
Su Ming carefully calculated, he had classes at eight and had arrived late today, it was already almost five.
He had to leave by seven thirty at the latest, waiting five hours would mean ten o’clock, which was completely too late, so he asked Liu Zhi.
“Can we book for tomorrow here?”
“Sorry, no.
You see how busy we are here, if we accepted, other customers would have complaints.”
Liu Zhi directly replied.
Su Ming, feeling very helpless, turned to Lin Chuyu and asked,
“I have class at eight, it’s completely too late, do you want to go?”
“Mm, I’ll wait.”
Lin Chuyu replied without a hint of hesitation.
“Okay, then I’ll book the Mecha Simulation Training Pod for you.”
Su Ming responded, slightly surprised, he hadn’t expected Lin Chuyu to be so dedicated.
“Thank you.”
Lin Chuyu replied with much gratitude.
Su Ming turned to Liu Zhi and said,
“Please make the booking for me.”
Just as Liu Zhi was about to respond to Su Ming, suddenly a haughty female voice came through.
“The simulation training pod, we’ve booked it.”
Su Ming furrowed his brows and turned around.
He saw a tall woman in black high heels, slightly heavily made up with attractive lips painted in bright red lipstick, wearing the Haiheng Academy uniform walking over and saying.
Next to her was a good-looking young man wearing casual designer clothes with a proud look and a high nose, and a girl of average looks wearing school uniform and sporting exaggerated round earrings.
“Oh my, isn’t that Miss Gu Meng?
You want to book a simulation training pod, I’ll book it for you right away.”
Liu Zhi replied in a very flattering manner.
Lin Chuyu, hearing Liu Zhi was about to give the training pod to Gu Meng, was about to speak when she heard Su Ming ask somewhat coldly,
“Wait a second, we booked the simulation training pod first, why give it to them?”
Liu Zhi’s face froze with a fawning smile, then he turned to Su Ming and said,
“You haven’t finalized your booking yet.”
Gu Meng glanced at Su Ming, then ignoring him, giggled and spoke to Lin Chuyu.
“So this is Lin Chuyu, huh?
Since when did you have such poor taste, hanging out with such a fatso.”
“Su Ming is my friend,” Lin Chuyu replied frankly.
“Friend, huh?
I see he’s more like a useless, groveling dog.
Liu Zhi, I want the training pod and nobody dares compete with me for it, you know very well who my father is!”
Gu Meng said haughtily.
“Miss Gu Meng, as you say, who else would I reserve it for if not for you.”
Liu Zhi replied ingratiatingly.
“You dare, the Mecha Training Pod was booked by us first, call your manager over!”
Su Ming, noticing Liu Zhi’s bias, decided not to waste words.
Although he didn’t like trouble, it didn’t mean he was afraid of it.
Liu Zhi, at this moment, found himself in a difficult position.
He wanted to please Gu Meng, but Su Ming’s firm attitude suggested he was no easy target.
Gu Meng also realized Liu Zhi couldn’t decide by himself, so she coldly snorted and said,
“Just call your manager over.”
“Okay.”
Liu Zhi left with a thankful yet apologetic smile.
By now, Su Ming and Lin Chuyu were facing off against Gu Meng and her companions.
Many people waiting to use the Mecha Simulation Training Machine saw the commotion and crowded around to watch the spectacle.
“Isn’t that your Haiheng School’s Gu Meng, the beautiful young lady, and isn’t that handsome guy standing next to her Qi Shen?”
“Is that them?
Who’s having the dispute with Gu Meng over there?”
“Chuyu from Mint Middle School, and another guy, who looks familiar but I can’t recall his name.”
“Oh, that’s Chuyu.
She’s really pretty!”
“Gu Meng from your school isn’t bad either.”
“She’s good, but too domineering.”
…
The crowd continued their discussion.
At that moment, a boy in a Mint school uniform, his face speckled with black dots, saw Su Ming and Chuyu together.
A mischievous smile appeared on his face as he took out his phone, snapped a photo, and then slipped away from the onlookers.
Just then, Liu Zhi approached with a middle-aged man in a white shirt, sparse hair, and a round face.
“I’m Wan Shan, manager of Heavy Strike—Liu Zhi has briefed me on the matter.”
Wan Shan made it clear that he knew what was going on.
Su Ming, expressionless, looked at Manager Wan Shan.
“You run a business here.
The principle of first-come, first-served doesn’t need explaining, right?”
Gu Meng immediately spoke up, not willing to show any weakness.
“I don’t care about that—today, I am booking the simulation pod!”
Wan Shan glanced over Su Ming, then Gu Meng, before turning to Su Ming.
“Brother, although you asked for the simulation training machine first, you haven’t paid yet, and without payment, it’s not officially reserved.
Of course, as businessmen, we don’t favor anyone, so both of you can make an offer—whichever is higher gets the reservation.”
Hearing this, Su Ming’s eyes became even colder—it was clear that Wan Shan was favoring Gu Meng.
Gu Meng, hearing Wan Shan, spoke with smug satisfaction.
“Exactly, highest bid wins!
If you’re broke, shut up and get lost!”
“Fine!”
Su Ming agreed immediately.
“I’ll offer three hundred an hour!”
Gu Meng immediately named her price.
“Five hundred!”
Su Ming retorted without hesitation.
“Eight hundred!”
Gu Meng snorted coldly and raised the stakes.
“One thousand!”
Su Ming didn’t back down and went straight to one thousand.
Hearing that Su Ming took it to one thousand, Gu Meng didn’t immediately counter, hesitating instead.
At that moment, Qi Shen, who was pursuing Gu Meng, spoke up on her behalf.
“Two thousand an hour!”
The crowd on-site immediately gasped.
Just as Su Ming was about to speak, Chuyu reached out to stop him, lightly biting her lip.
“Forget it, it’s too expensive!
I’ll come practice another day.”
She couldn’t afford such a steep price.
“It’s okay, this has nothing to do with you.
Just repay me the normal rate, three thousand!”
Su Ming called out very composedly.
“Wow, three thousand an hour—this is too extravagant.”
“They really don’t treat money as an object!”
…
The crowd all around exclaimed in awe.
Gu Meng and Qi Shen’s faces suddenly turned very ugly—Su Ming had already gone up to three thousand.
If they were to outbid him, just a few hours would lose them tens of thousands of Federation credits.
Although they had some money, they were not willing to spend it like this.
After all, an Iron Head Mecha cost only a few million Federation credits.
