Chapter 90: His Attitude Is Driving Her Crazy

Aurora feels her heart racing in an unfamiliar, puzzling way for the first time after Alex kindly helps her to the bathroom.

She took a moment to stand quietly behind the closed door, trying to soothe her racing heartbeat.

Even so, his familiar scent wrapped around her, bringing a comforting warmth to her heart.

She gently closes her eyes and tries to push him from her thoughts, softly chanting.

’Alexander Graystone! Can you please stop confusing me? I wish you would just act like your usual self, all cold and grumpy!’

Aurora expresses her frustration internally, allowing his poor attitude to consume her thoughts. Alex sometimes appears to care for her deeply, but it isn’t long before he reminds her that their marriage is merely a contract.

’What the hell does he want?’ Her hands are tightened, trying to find the answer.

Knowing she will never get the answers to all the questions now swirling in her chaotic mind, Aurora walks toward the sink and washes her hands.

As she gazes into the mirror, her eyes fixed on her reflection, a flutter of butterflies dances in her stomach.

She is thinking about the upcoming birthday party tomorrow, where she will meet Alex’s entire family and her father, Aurora Moon’s Father, with excitement and nervousness blooming within her.

Once she finished cleaning, Aurora cautiously opened the door, attempting to avoid any noise, fearing Alex might come to assist her again.

Although a spark of happiness flickered in her heart at his earlier gentleness, she did not wish to experience it again.

When the door swung open, she nearly tripped upon seeing him standing before her. Gripping the door frame, she was confused about why he was there.

’Did he truly wish to assist me?’

At first, her heart swelled with warmth, but soon, that feeling vanished, leaving only a chill.

’Nope! He probably won’t do that. Maybe he just wants to use the bathroom, right?’ she thinks, stepping aside with a smile to let him enter.

"Oops, my bad, Alex! I took a bit longer in the bathroom than I meant to. It’s all yours now!"

She offers him a warm, apologetic smile before heading over to her bed.

Alex’s eyebrows furrowed upon hearing her words.

"Who on earth needed to use the bathroom?" He wanted to yell it, but he hesitated, fearing it would upset her again—She had suffered enough already.

Alex brushed off the thought and said, "I wasn’t planning on using the bathroom..." while gently following her to the bed.

He added, "I was genuinely worried that I might have to break down the door if you didn’t come out soon. I just want to ensure you’re okay and that you don’t hurt yourself again."

"I really appreciate your concern, Alex. Thank you," Aurora responds gently while settling into her bed.

She can easily picture his true intention. Although his actions seem protective, they stem primarily from his wish to ensure her safety until their marriage contract is fulfilled.

"No worries, there’s no need to thank me. Just remember to ask for my help in the future whenever you need it," Alex said gently, ensuring her blanket was tucked in just right.

His eyes remained fixed on her as he continued, "I mean it, Aurora. Don’t pretend you can do everything or handle everything on your own. I’m your husband. Just tell me if you need anything."

’Wait, wait, is he really Alexander Graystone? I can’t believe he has changed his attitude again!’

Aurora shivers at the thought of this man’s unpredictable personality. How could he express those words with such sincerity?

"I’ll keep that in mind." Those were the only words she could muster as her mind grappled with the uncertainty of whether this man truly meant what he said.

Aurora closed her eyes and pretended to sleep to avoid confusion, hoping he would leave her alone and go to the patient’s family’s bedroom.

But what she truly wanted didn’t unfold the way she had hoped.

She could hear Alex gently moving away from the bed; when she took a little peek, she saw him softly switch off the light and stroll toward the window.

Watching him quietly standing there with his back turned made her wonder what thoughts were swirling in his mind.

The more she wondered about his thoughts, the sleepiness felt like a gentle longing that always seemed just out of reach.

Her mind was bustling and chaotic. Yet, in contrast to the turmoil inside her, she did not dare to move. Worried, Alex turned his head toward her.

After a little while, she decided to stop looking at him. She gently closed her eyes, letting her mind wander to other thoughts, even though it wasn’t easy. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

Aurora was unaware of how long she had struggled to get Alex out of her mind.

Not long after, she started to feel more at ease. She opened her eyes and saw that the room remained dim, illuminated solely by the external light.

She felt relieved to see Alex no longer standing by the window.

But just as she was about to close her eyes again, her glance drifted over to the sofa, where she noticed someone peacefully sleeping.

’Gosh! He’s sleeping on the sofa?’ Aurora couldn’t hide her worry. ’Is that long body going to fit there?’ she thought again, trying to catch a glimpse of him for a moment.

After a few minutes,

Without realizing it, she got out of bed and walked to the patient’s family room.

She came out not long after, holding a blanket and pillow.

The moment she stood by the couch, her body tensed up.

’Oh my goodness, Rory! What on earth are you up to?’

In that brief moment, she couldn’t help but feel like she was more Aurora Moon than Spencer.

Aurora gulped nervously, trying to leave. However, an unseen force kept her back. A moment later, her heart racing, she moved closer and gently tucked a soft pillow under his head.

’Merciful God! Please ensure what I just did wouldn’t wake him up...’
