Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 77: A Trap!
Chapter 77: A Trap!
"Josh, let’s go to my family’s house," Aurora said as she got into the car.
"Ma’am, would you agree if we have lunch first? It’s nearly one o’clock. We should stop by the hotel and get some lunch; it’s not far from here..." Josh glanced at her before signaling to the driver.
"I’m not hungry yet, Josh. We need to head there now; I need to find out what happened to Neil," she replied, dismissing Josh’s suggestion.
It didn’t take long for them to finally arrive at her parents’ house.
"Excuse me, Young Madam, please wait for me! I’ll join you inside," Josh said as Aurora stepped out.
Aurora paused and glanced at Josh. "There’s no need to be so concerned, Josh. I’m just heading back to my parent’s house; I’m not going to places where danger looms." She smiled, finding his expressive worries amusing.
As she gazes at Josh, who appears hesitant to leave her alone, she realizes the importance of sharing the truth about her martial arts skills with him. As long as no one uses firearms, she will be fine.
Aurora playfully patted Josh on the shoulder, causing him to freeze in surprise. He hadn’t anticipated this young woman behaving so casually toward him.
"I feel safe in there, Josh," she said with a warm smile, noticing his worried look.
She continued with a smile, "There’s just Tina and Neil. They wouldn’t hurt me... Instead, they’ll make sure to serve me my favorite food."
"But Ma’am..."
She lightly patted her forehead and hurriedly interrupted him, "How could I forget... you must have lunch, too, right? Okay, I will ask..."
"No need, ma’am. We’re not hungry. Please go in; I’ll wait here." Josh quickly dismissed the idea of entering her house, worried Aurora might ask Tina to cook for them and cause trouble.
"Are you sure? I can ask Tina to cook for you and the driver," Aurora arched her eyebrow. She was okay with asking Tina to prepare a meal for them.
"Yes. Yes... please go ahead, ma’am. I will wait here," Josh said firmly.
"Hmm, I won’t be here long. We’ll head to the hotel after this," Aurora said, continuing to walk toward the main door.
She smiled upon seeing a man with an athletic build and curly reddish hair opening the door.
From Aurora Spencer’s memory, she recalls that the man was Neil, one of her father’s trusted butlers. Now, Neil lives in this house, guarding it after his father died.
"Young lady, I’m so happy you’ve finally had time to visit me..." Neil gives a slight bow and gestures for her to enter. "Tina mentioned you’re already married. Why didn’t you tell me?"
Aurora simply nodded and smiled at Neil, astonished that Tina had shared so much information with him after just a few hours of meeting.
She hopes Tina will keep a secret about who her husband is, or Neil might be shocked if he finds out about Alexander Graystone.
"Uncle Neil, it’s wonderful to meet you too!" she responds with a playful smile, lightheartedly brushing aside his previous comments. She would rather not delve into her marriage, especially with someone she hardly knows.
While this gentleman was her father’s trusted butler, she didn’t have many shared memories with him. She needed to be careful.
"Uncle Neil, Tina said there was something important you wanted to talk about," Aurora asked, glancing at Neil, who walked behind her as they made their way to the living room.
"Yes, Miss. There is something important you need to know..." Neil’s response guided her to James Spencer’s home office.
"Why do we have to meet at my dad’s office?" Aurora frowned at Neil.
"Miss, we should discuss this at your father’s office. I’ve discovered something concerning him, and I need you to review it."
Aurora’s curiosity gradually returned when she noticed the seriousness of Neil’s expression.
"Where is Tina?" she asked, noticing her absence.
"She’s inside waiting for you, Miss," Neil said, opening the door and gesturing for her to enter first.
Fueled by her curiosity about Neil’s findings, she rushed into the room. Yet, just a few steps in, her heart tightened in disbelief at the scene unfolding before her.
Instantly, Aurora turned to check on Neil, only to find two burly men holding him. Seeing the fear and worry in his expression, she realized this situation was more complicated than she had thought.
’Damn it! This is a trap!’ Aurora silently cursed under her breath for not foreseeing this situation.
As Aurora was about to speak, a deep, commanding voice from a middle-aged man sounded from the corner, "Guard outside. Ensure no one enters the house!"
"Yes, Master!" one of the sturdy men by the doorway replies before exiting the room.
"Well, well, my beautiful niece Aurora! You’re finally back. It has been a long wait for us to see you."
The middle-aged man with sleek black hair walked toward Aurora, who remained still, seemingly confused.
A provocative smile appeared on his lips, stopping just short of Aurora.
"Aurora, my lovely niece, why are you postponing your meeting with Lorenzo? It’s been a month since your father’s passing. We cannot delay for another time, dear..." His rough hand rested on her cheek, leaving her in shock. freewёbnoνel.com
Aurora deftly stepped back to avoid his disgusting hand on her cheek. Her eyes stared at him blankly, and she couldn’t believe this old geezer was trying to touch her.
Her hands clenched tightly as she struggled to restrain her emotions, her gaze fixed on Tina, who sat bound to a chair at the far end of the room. Two sturdy men flanked her; they resembled bodyguards or members of a gang.
Witnessing the dried blood on Tina’s lips and the redness of her swollen cheeks filled her with fear that these individuals might torture Tina again.
’I need to think clearly!’ she wondered.
Aurora smiled at Tina, trying to calm her down, when she noticed that Tina had begun to cry silently because her mouth was sealed shut with duct tape.
She gritted her teeth and looked back at Willow Spencer, her father’s younger brother. The evil intent in his gaze sent her heart racing, wary of what would happen next.
