Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 144: Most Valuable Asset
Chapter 144: Most Valuable Asset
The romantic scene continues to torment Tina and Martin, who quietly observe Aurora and Alex from a distance as they walk in the backyard garden.
After some time, Tina leaned closer to Martin and whispered with a chuckle.
"Martin, let’s just leave them alone. They won’t need us..." Since their lady and master had breakfast, they focused entirely on themselves and didn’t even ask for help.
"You’re absolutely right, Tina! It’s probably best if we head inside now." Martin agrees with that.
Soon, they left the backyard garden, making their way back inside.
They will wait for Alex or Aurora to call them if needed.
...
Aurora and Alex were oblivious to their surroundings.
Both were entirely absorbed in their world.
After strolling toward the pool and chatting about various topics, they continued to walk toward the pine tree. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
Although the temperature began to drop with the arrival of winter, Aurora felt no chill. Alex kept close to her, his hand on her waist to make sure she remained by his side.
She found it amusing how sweet he was now; however, she was starting to feel overwhelmed by his constant loving gestures.
’Ugh! Why did I offer him help this morning? This shameless Alex is becoming ridiculously obsessed with me!’
Aurora sighed, shaking her head as she tried to forget the arousing memories in the bathroom.
However, it turned out to be difficult. The memory was just too sexy to be quickly omitted.
Every part of him—his bare body, his abs, his masculinity—everything she wanted to erase continues to haunt her thoughts, tormenting her.
’Please, Rory! Stop picturing how attractive he was, okay? He could read your thoughts if you keep dwelling on it...’ She let out a silent sigh.
The heat under her skin grew warmer when he placed his hand on her shoulder and leaned closer to her as if he wanted to kiss her, but didn’t.
All she could do was silently swallow her frustration and scold him internally.
’Could you just kiss me and stop toying with my patience?’
Overwhelmed by the intense heat within her, she suddenly stopped, surprising him off guard. She turned to face him and looked up to meet his puzzled gaze.
"Are you cold?" Alex panicked, ensuring her coat was properly covering her.
’Cold?’ Aurora was speechless upon hearing his words. She feels hot now as if someone had just lit a fire inside her.
Aurora smiled faintly at him.
"I’m fine, Alex. But we should head back home. We need to make it to the office. I’ll be late, and my boss Patrick could move me to a different division..." she replied playfully, trying to lift her spirits by imagining something funny—Alex scolding Patrick.
Indeed, Alex suddenly became angry at her words. "He won’t have the guts to do that, Aurora. Don’t be afraid of him," he said while patting her head gently.
"Of course, I know. I’m just kidding." Aurora stifled a laugh when she finally saw his annoyed gaze shift to a playful one, realizing she was joking.
"Alright, let’s go to the office. But you don’t have to try hard to impress him. I will talk to him to lessen your work," Alex said while wrapping her hand with his as they made their way back to the house.
"Please don’t do that, Alex. I want to be productive at the office and learn from him."
Aurora felt somewhat guilty for telling a lie. Upon returning to Stardust Tech, she aimed not to acquire new knowledge but to offer her assistance instead.
In addition to being Alex’s assistant, she assisted Patrick in developing numerous game programs in her past life.
She is the best pentester and code reviewer the company has ever had. She can simulate cyberattacks to identify vulnerabilities and fix them. She can also review code for errors, potential security loopholes, or performance problems.
Alex and Patrick consistently praise her as the company’s most valuable asset for her ability to identify areas for improvement.
So, everything Patrick gave her yesterday was something she could easily solve in just a few minutes, since he assigned her a minor task.
It frustrated her to help them from the shadows. She can’t assist them openly because Patrick might know of her presence.
’Hold on! This is incredible, Rory! You can only talk to Patrick using code language? He could get it, and the powerful force preventing you from speaking might not notice, correct?’
Hearing her thoughts instantly sent goosebumps down her spine. She must test this because she can’t verbally express that she was reborn. They also failed when she tried to text and email Alex about it.
She shook her head, trying not to think about it. Worry that God, who always stopped and failed her every effort to reveal her rebirth, might know even when it’s still only her idea.
Her eyes beamed as she made her way to their bedroom to prepare to go to the office.
...
Stardust Tower.
Alex wanted to walk her to her office when they arrived at the underground lobby, but she stopped him.
She worried that if David found out about Alex’s return, he might tease her again. Just thinking about it already exhausted her.
"I will not walk you to your office, but I will visit Patrick’s office..." he calmly said when the elevator almost reached the fifty-seventh floor.
Aurora was speechless.
’Wow, when did this guy start visiting Patrick’s office? He never did that before...’ She felt frustrated trying to stop him.
"No! You better work upstairs, Alex. I know you have plenty of work waiting for you." She insisted on stopping him.
Alex sighed, recognizing the truth in her words. He could spend the whole day in his office dealing with all that tedious work.
However, this is new for him. He feels his work looks dull and only wants to stay by her side.
’What the hell happened to me? Why am I feeling like this? Damn it, Alexander Graystone! Pull yourself up! You need to concentrate, man...’ he scolded himself internally.
Just before she exited the elevator, he suddenly grasped her hand and quickly and smoothly leaned in to kiss her lips.
