Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 141: I Think I’m In Love With My Wife
Chapter 141: I Think I’m In Love With My Wife
"I apologize, Aurora," he said, regretting bringing her to the public space.
Aurora maintained her smile but felt a bit uneasy inwardly as she started to think about which picture of them had circulated online.
She hoped the photo would not show her clear face or all her friends would be shocked to see it.
"It’s alright; there’s nothing more we can do about it." Aurora shrugged and said, "But I hope they didn’t post my clear photo."
Alex’s expression deepened upon hearing her words. He also hoped her face remained hidden.
He gently squeezed her hand, reassuring her as they walked further inside.
Upon reaching the second floor, he intended to dismiss the issue, yet a thought crossed his mind. He paused before opening the door.
"Aurora, I’m fine with announcing our marriage now. What do you think?" His words surprised her, and seeing his earnestness left her even more stunned.
She stared at him silently, recalling how different he was from his past life with all his ex-wives. He had only officially announced his marriage to the public once, which was his first marriage.
In his previous marriages, he never disclosed them. When a photo of him with his ex-wives surfaced in the media, he typically did not clarify or address the situation. As a result, people could only assume he had six ex-wives.
But now he plans to announce it? What is happening here?
"Alex, no. Please, not now. Think about it more!" she responded, noticing his eyebrow slightly arching.
"Why should I think about it more?" he asked.
Her hand tightened into a tight fist. "Okay. Maybe it’s me. I’m not ready. Please. I hope you understand why I said it, please?" she pleaded.
"Alright. I apologize for bringing this up, Aurora." He smiled as he softly patted her head. "Please clean up first. I need to see what’s happening online and consult with my legal team about the possibility of profiting from this case."
Aurora couldn’t help but stifle a laugh as she gazed into his eyes, which sparkled while he talked about profit.
’Wow, this man is really Alexander Graystone...’ she thought, feeling a warm sense of happiness to realize that Alex, the person she had known all this time, had finally come back—he would be thrilled about the chance to make profits.
...
Once he let Aurora into the main room and shut the door behind her, Alex’s friendly expression quickly shifted to a frown.
He stepped quickly into his office, took out his cell phone, and called Dave, the head of his security team.
Alex remained puzzled about how someone had managed to capture an image of them.
He had already clearly instructed that no one should enter the park near Aurora and him while they strolled around.
The phone rang twice before a deep male voice greeted Alex politely on the other end.
"Dave, what happened out there? How did someone manage to snap our photo?" he questioned in a displeased tone.
"Boss, I apologize. This is entirely my fault. But, no worries, sir, I can’t even see your face clearly, let alone your wife’s," Dave reported.
"Are you serious? My wife’s face is unclear?" Even though Alex hadn’t viewed the picture yet, he felt a sense of relief from this news. At least no one will recognize Aurora.
"I might not recognize her either! The truth is that people out there know about you, especially since your die-hard fans could easily figure it out when they see your blurry picture."
Alex sighed deeply; he understood that. "How about the person who captured the picture?" he asked.
"And sir, I have already looked into who leaked the picture. Sir..."
"Who?" Alex asked quickly, his voice growing increasingly irritated. He had to confront whoever it was.
"The new recruit on the main team made a serious error by taking your picture and sending it to his girlfriend." Dave paused briefly before continuing.
"Then his girlfriend shared it in her private group to brag about her boyfriend guarding you. And stupidly, one of her friends later posted it on social media..." Dave sounded worried as he waited for Alex’s reply.
Alex took a deep breath as he stood by the window, gazing at the scenery outside. He felt disappointed. How could his people make such a minor error?
"Dave, how could you make such a horrible mistake? Why would you place new people close to me?" Alex inquired, visibly irritated, pinching his brow.
"Sir, I understand there are no excuses, and this is truly my error. My trusted colleague has been on leave for a few days, and I mistakenly thought you were still away..."
Dave continued explaining that almost all his people, who usually guard him, will only return when he returns from his business trip, which is supposed to be two days from today.
Alex shook his head, feeling frustrated. This is indeed his fault, too. He abruptly ended his business trip simply because he wanted to meet his wife sooner and forgot to inform them. He only managed to call Dave when he arrived in the city.
After discussing the punishment for the new recruit and his girlfriend with Dave, Alex didn’t speak to him for long before ending the call.
He stood by the window for a few more minutes before making another phone call.
Patrick’s voice came from the other end. ƒreewebɳovel.com
"Alex, if you want to ask for the update, I already emailed you the report and everything you need to address..." Patrick explained for a few more minutes. Still, he stopped speaking when he heard nothing from the other side. "Are you there, Alex?" he asked.
"Hmm! Patrick, I think I’m in love with my wife..." Alex said, clenching his phone tightly after hearing his voice.
"What the hell, man. Did you only realize that?" Patrick’s laughter echoed from the other end, causing Alex’s forehead to furrow.
Patrick added, "Jimmy and I realized this when we saw her at your house. Your gaze toward her differed from how you looked at your ex-wife!"
Alex smirked.
