Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 139: The First Date (2)
Chapter 139: The First Date (2)
"Are you cold?" Alex asked while glancing at her. She looked so cute in her long, dark gray coat and a baseball cap that hid her face from anyone she thought might recognize her.
Her typically pale cheeks now seemed slightly flushed. He couldn’t tell if it was because she was cold or embarrassed to be seen with him in public.
But whatever it was, she looked so damn gorgeous.
It was amusing when she finally agreed to stroll through this beautiful riverside park, but only if he wore a mask.
"Alex, please put on this mask; your face is always on national television, countless women adore you, and it would certainly lead to trouble if all those women in the country turned into my enemies! It’s not unreasonable to think a handful of them are lunatics," Her words made him want to laugh.
He couldn’t blame her.
That would indeed happen if the media found out he already had a woman who would steadily stay beside him, not just a woman but a lawful wife.
Those people would roast her again as his seventh wife. He could not bear to see her hurt if that happened, so he asked his people to guard this place from paparazzi or any threats.
"I’m not cold. The air is quite pleasant." She replied with a smile, attempting to reassure him. Nevertheless, Alex took her hand and slipped it into his coat pocket.
His sweet gesture instantly sent her into a romantic K-Drama scene that she usually watched by accident with Tina.
She stifled a laugh, thinking about it while trying to prevent her cheeks from turning red. Otherwise, she might look like a ripe tomato.
Aurora had always imagined having a street date like this with someone who loved her, but that had never happened in either of her two lives.
She couldn’t deny that she now felt like enjoying the moment with him.
After a few moments of walking in silence, Alex finally spoke up, "Aurora, you haven’t shared about your first day at the office. How was it? Did Patrick give you any trouble?"
She paused momentarily, took a deep breath, and reflected on her day. It had been quite an eventful one, and she wasn’t quite sure if she found it enjoyable or not.
But something brought her joy: she finally returned to her second home—her office—even though she couldn’t return to her old self.
Still, she is grateful for that.
After a brief pause, she finally shared her concerns about Patrick’s fuss with him, which could potentially reveal her identity, which she wished to keep private during her Stardust Tech internship.
She also protested Alex’s excessive orders to relocate Patrick’s staff to another floor. She mentioned that it was unnecessary.
But Alex only smiled at her, saying nothing.
However, she didn’t tell him about her encounter with Max, knowing he might be jealous and send Max to another branch.
This might make Max even more convinced to withdraw from this internship program.
’I truly need to figure out how to persuade Max to stay. I simply cannot stand the idea of him leaving now that Aurora Moon is no longer here...’ she murmured as she suddenly thought about him.
"I’m sorry, Aurora. I only wanted to protect you and make you feel special. I promise I won’t do that again..."
Alex’s words appeared to draw Aurora back from her thoughts about Max.
Aurora glanced up to catch his anxious look.
A smile graced her lips before she replied, "It’s fine. And I’m so thankful for that, Alex. Really!" She tried to convince him and felt relieved to see him smile through his gaze.
They settled onto a garden bench, surrounded by the stunning view of the towering skyscrapers that defined Spectra City—the city of light.
The colorful buildings sparkled across the river, illuminating the night and momentarily mesmerizing her as she admired its beauty.
Aurora envied the young couples who frequently dated in the park. What about her? She had only witnessed this on social media.
’Rory, your life seems so boring!’ She could only express her frustration internally.
"What are you thinking?"
"Ugh, I’m reflecting on my dull life, Alex! I’ve devoted my whole life to working for you as your assistant." She wished to express this, but naturally, she held back.
It felt pointless because those words would never escape her lips, thwarted by an invisible force that kept her from revealing her true identity as Aurora Moon.
"Food! I’m starving..." She smiled brightly, clearly enjoying his surprised reaction to her answer.
"I’m sorry. I’m too happy to walk with you and forget that you and I must eat..."
Alex laughed as he took out his cell phone. But before he dialed, he glanced at her again.
"What do you want to eat? Let’s order!" he said.
Alex was excited to hear her answer. He did not yet know what this girl liked. Since he had promised her to give their marriage a try, he had already made a note to remember all her favorites.
Aurora was pleasantly surprised by his clever suggestion. "Are you trying to order food and have it delivered here?" she asked curiously.
She hadn’t anticipated Alex thinking of that, and his idea definitely earned him some extra points in her mind.
’Geez! Did he always do this in his previous marriages? Dating with his ex?’ she wondered.
Aurora tried to recall memories from her previous life, but found nothing, as she did not accompany him during his time with any of his ex-wives.
Nevertheless, she could sense they considered her their arch-nemesis whenever she appeared before his ex-wife.
She couldn’t blame them because Alex evidently and unsubtly preferred her to accompany him during his most urgent hours and situations, unlike all his ex-wives. She believed Alex’s mother, Sophia Morrison, must have told all his ex-wives that she was a threat to them.
"Yes. I will call Alvin to order it for us," he said casually, but Aurora felt like lightning had struck her.
Aurora took a moment to check their surroundings. Only then did she notice they were in that vast, empty park. Not a single person was in sight, just like before they left the car.
She didn’t need to ask; it was clear that Alex had cleared this entire area—no one was permitted to enter.
