Chapter 121: She Agreed!

Following his confession, the atmosphere became more awkward, especially for Aurora.

She felt uncertain about how to act around him.

When Alex begins to make physical contact, it makes her feel even more uncomfortable.

At first, Aurora didn’t care about holding hands with Alex. However, after learning that he was open to any possibilities about their marriage—including making it real, not just a contract marriage—she felt a storm raging in her heart every time their hands touched.

Her rigid response whenever he attempted to get closer, was noticeable enough for Alex to see it.

"I apologize, Aurora..." His gentle tone made her turn to him.

Aurora noticed him sitting upright; he had stopped trying to corner her against the end of the sofa.

There was a space between them, even though it wasn’t too far.

She could see the distress in his expression as he ran his hand through his hair while leaning back on the sofa and gazing at the ceiling above. freёwebnoѵel.com

"Why are you apologizing?" Aurora asked, puzzled as she noticed his mood drop once more.

"I’m so excited about our marriage that I forgot to ask your opinion. I was being selfish, Aurora. I owe you an apology," he said, avoiding her gaze. She could tell he was intentionally not making eye contact with her.

Silence!

Alex took his time to think, and Aurora remained quiet as well.

She waited for him to speak while trying to soothe her racing thoughts and reflect on what she truly wanted.

’Did I want this marriage to become real, too?’ she wonders.

Before Aurora could find the answer to the question in her mind, Alex’s voice suddenly startled her.

"Aurora, what do you think? Do you agree?"

Aurora gazed at him, puzzled. She still hadn’t figured out how to respond.

Initially, she hadn’t planned to be by his side forever, so when they first met and he offered a prenup, she felt relieved.

However, after living with him under the same roof as husband and wife for more than a month, her mind and heart began to confuse her, especially after she met her father a few days ago.

Her plan changed; she wanted to stay with Alex longer and see her father more often.

Concern filled Alex’s eyes when he noticed her confusion.

With a gentle smile, he said, "Aurora, if this has left you feeling uncertain and anxious, I won’t rush you into accepting me right away; instead, I will offer you..."

"I’m fine with the idea..." Aurora said softly, yet just a moment later, she was stunned by her own response.

She remained still, watching as Alex’s broad smile framed his face. The light in his eyes grew even brighter.

Alex straightened up and turned to her for a clearer view of her face.

"Aurora, you agree?" he asked, raising his tone slightly to ensure he wasn’t mistaken.

Aurora, still busy, vents her frustration within her mind, failing to notice how excited Alex is now.

’Girl, why do you keep getting into trouble?’ She finds it hard to believe that her heart has constantly let her down. Whenever she hesitates to make a decision, her heart takes charge.

"Yes..." It was difficult for her to admit it, yet she realized there was no other option. "But, Alex, could you give me a little more time? You know what I mean?" She gently raised her hand to stop him from kissing her.

"Oops, I apologize..." Alex said with an unexpected grin, pausing just inches away from her face. "I simply can’t help myself." He then returned to his proper sitting posture.

Aurora tries to steady her racing heart after imagining that they are kissing. She shakes her head slightly to push those sultry thoughts away.

She tries to act casually in front of him. She even continues to suppress the foreign feeling in her heart.

However, before she could completely suppress that feeling, his question about whether she could accept the idea of real marriage suddenly made her freeze again.

"Aurora, starting tonight, we will sleep in the same bedroom. In my bedroom."

His words left her in shock. "No!" she immediately declined.

Alex felt a mix of surprise and disappointment at her rejection. "Why?" he asked curiously.

Aurora was utterly speechless.

"Are you still too shy to sleep with me? Do you remember when we shared a bed at my parents’ house?" he asked, waiting for her answer.

Alex stifled a laugh when he saw how adorable she looked in her nervousness. Her eyes blinked, and she opened her mouth several times to try to say something, but no words came from her lips.

As she lowered her gaze to avoid eye contact, he gently took her hand, prompting her to meet his eyes again. He noticed the tension reflected in her eyes.

He added, "If you are concerned that I will touch you, please don’t worry. I promise I won’t do it unless you expressly consent to it. Don’t let those worries bother you. I’m honest about my promise. Do you recall how I kept my word when we visited my parents’ house?"

’I believe you, Alex. But I can’t trust myself!’ She pondered inwardly, feeling the heat of his blood coursing beneath her skin.

She was overwhelmed with embarrassment and found it hard to meet his gaze as memories of sleeping comfortably in his arms filled her mind.

"Not tonight. I need to move my things to your room first. I can’t—" She can’t finish her words as Alex holds her hand and helps her to her feet.

"Go wash up first. You don’t need to worry about your belongings; Tina and Martin will take care of them for you," he said excitedly as he guided her to the bathroom.

Aurora was momentarily speechless, having just come up with a clever excuse to convince him to let her stay one more night before moving into his bedroom.

However, she failed!

"Alex, can we skip tonight? We still have plenty of time, possibly a lifetime, to share a bedroom, right?"

"Nope! We must start tonight. I’m worried you’ll change your mind."

Aurora, "..."
