Chapter 116: Experiment Successful

The four Executives had no words to reply to her.

"Is the sect master not here?" Azelis asked, her expression flat.

"No. He is at the frontline," Executive Rudh said before he sighed. "We knew those two had shady dealings, but to think..."

"What about that piece of trash Rakin?" Azelis interrupted him as she asked and glanced at a spot down on the mountain, where Rakin was standing with other Tamers.

Rakin’s expression was ashen and ugly as he saw the hologram. His name was mentioned multiple times, and it was clear that his life in this sect and chances to make Azelis his were over.

’Goddamn idiots!’

He contacted his family without further ado, telling them to pick him up as soon as possible.

The executives looked at Rakin before turning to Azelis, their expressions complicated.

"You know we can’t do anything to Rakin. He is not directly involved, even if he may have pushed the button," Executive Jasmine said with a soft sigh.

"And harming him would cause a war between the Ouroboros Sect and the Lockham Family, and if that happens, we all know who is going to lose." She added.

Azelis coldly snorted. "Yes, I know. I also know I am going to be hunted by the Lockham family because of that bastard."

"But things will not go the way they want."

Executive Jerelen wryly smiled. "What are you going to do now, Azelis?"

"It’s simple. I am no longer a member of Ouroboros Sect." Azelis threw the badge and her wristband down while her dress transformed, removing all Ouroboros symbols.

The executives were shocked at Azelis’s decision to resign.

"Azelis, you do know that you will have to remove your monster geno art, and you will lose all the progress...the years and resources you have spent training your physique to be on par with Emperor-rank Monsters will vanish."

"That’s right. You don’t need to leave."

The executives showed clear anxiety and gravity. Azelis was the star Executive of Ouroboros Hall!

The rising star who was eventually going to become a sect leader. Even though Executive Rudh, Jason, and Jasime were stronger, Azelis was bound to surpass them sooner rather than later.

In the nexus city, she was the face of Ouroboros Hall for the general public, and other forces knew of her potential, which was one of the reasons the Lockham family wanted her.

She had won competitions, taken first ranks, and elevated Ouroboros Hall’s prestige.

And now...she was resigning. This blow was heavy for the Ouroboros Hall.

"Why are you all surprised? You did nothing to prevent this. Jason fooled you all with his scheme. He targeted Jibril and his family, and told you John just had to be investigated a bit since he was with her and would be released, right? Yeahhh...our next rising star was going to be fine, so who cares what else happens?"

"What was it that prevented you from interfering? Lockham family’s fear? Or you just thought that since it’s Jibril who’s in trouble, it’s fine not to interfere?"

Azelis saw that the hologram had finished playing everything and was replaying now. She stopped it and threw the crystal at Executive Rudh.

"Here, take this. As for my monster geno art, I’ll destroy it myself. The next time you see me in the Nexus city, I’ll have a different monster geno art."

"Tell that to the sect leader. I’ll take my leave now."

After saying that, Azelis didn’t even wait for their responses and left like a streaking light using one of her Pet Monster’s skills with Soul Synergy.

After arriving at the ocean in the north, she summoned the dragon and flew away.

It would have taken longer if the sect head were here, but since he was not, Azelis finished her business and left.

Azelis arrived at the same spot on the small island.

[ Brother John, Azelis is here. ]

Chuthulos told John, who was in the experiment.

"She’s here? It looks like she finished in an hour instead of two."

John came out and grabbed her hand before arriving inside.

"Sit down beside me and send your soul eye inside Tavros."

Azelis blinked as she saw John sitting down and also sat down beside him before sending her soul sense into Tavros.

Soul Eye was something that automatically unlocked, or rather, took form when one’s soul power reached 1000. It was like a combination of the Inner Eye and Outer Eye that Chuthulos had taught him.

The inner Eye could be used to see through within one’s body at deep layers, including even cells.

The Outer Eye could be stationed outside to give the person another view from a different position.

John had sent his Outer Eye inside Tavros and changed it into his Inner Eye to observe his soul source.

Azelis also arrived with her Soul Eye and sensed John’s aura in Tavros’s soul space.

’What are you doing now?’

’I am sending an image. That’s how a Spirit Physique that has cultivated Monster Geno Art looks. I don’t know people here are practicing it in the wrong way, but the creators of Monster Geno Arts knew the correct method, yet did not tell you.’

Azelis was surprised. ’What do you mean?’

But she got the answer as soon as John sent her the image of his Spirit Physique.

’This...’ Azelis was shocked. It only took a moment for her to realize that this Spirit Physique that resembled a physical one had the same configuration as those who had trained Monster Geno Art with their physical bodies.

’Yes. Monster Geno Arts are supposed to be trained via Soul Avatars, which are intricately connected to our physical body. This is the same with Monsters.’

’Every Monster actually has a Spirit Physique. I felt it was absurd that we had to start all over again when the Monsters could entirely transform and evolve, yet would not lose their physical parameters. It’s because of the Spirit Physique.’

’Monster Geno Arts are made by observing the Monsters, but people here practice is different, to control the powerhouses.’

Azelis was in waves of shock. ’To think that it was like that...’

’Wait, are you a genius or what? How did you think of this?’

’I am a genius, of course, though this has nothing to do with it. But to observe a Spirit Physique requires a deep bond with the Monsters, at least for me, who wasn’t powerful, but I guess stronger people may have the means to observe it without having a deep bond.’

’All in all, the goal of our experiments is to make a Spirit Physique for Tavros. Since the physical body and Spirit Physique are intricately connected, we might be able to transfer the essence he had cultivated in his body into his Spirit Physique.’

Azelis’s mind lit up with a bulb. ’And if we succeed, I’ll be able to keep my progress...But I can change my Monster Geno Art...just like how Monsters can evolve while getting different attributes and other assets without losing their stats. Amazing.’

’Yep. So let’s do this. I can’t have my strongest subordinate’s physique reduced to Bronze rank,’ John said with a grin.

’Subordinate?’ Azelis pricked John’s magic eye. ’What do you mean by that, brat?’

’Hey, no more calling me a brat. I am older than you...kind of. As for the subordinate thing, it’s related to the plan. After all, there’s going to be a new force in the Mysrin Archipelago, a force helmed by a mysterious Sovereign-rank Tamer, who is also a merchant with amazing items, who recruited Azelis Tenebral after she resigned from Ouroboros Hall.’

’Sounds good, right?’

’What?!’ Azelis was startled. ’Wait, so that’s why you want Emperor-rank Pets of these two...you want to evolve them into Sovereign-rank, and if YOU do that, they are going to be....’

’Super strong.’ John finished her sentence. ’Yep. Though we have to overcome some steps before that, and we don’t even have resources for their rank-up and evolution, so first, let’s make a breakthrough in the current task.’

...

John and Azelis worked together in Tavros’s soul source as he winced and cried in pain, rolling around in the prison while uttering gibberish.

But working together made things very efficient and easy.

Azelis was an Emperor-rank Tamer, so once she understood the basics, experiments were fast.

In the end, they created a perfect Spirit Physique for Tavros two hours later, and something strange happened.

’What’s going on?’ Azelis confusedly asked.

’No idea, but this...could this be the essence he cultivated in his body?’

’That means the progress is automatically transferring to his Spirit Physique!’ Azelis’s eyes widened in shock.

’Damn, I didn’t expect that. This just confirms that the right method of training Monster Geno Art is indeed via Spirit Physique.’

’Yes...but why are people here practicing in the wrong way...’ Azelis felt puzzled.

’Isn’t that obvious? It’s for the big forces to control the flow of Tamers into their organizations.’

’Yes, that does sound correct, but why and who?’ Azelis frowned. ’Could this be related to the main bases...’

’Main bases?’ John asked.

’Yeah, you see, Sovereign-rank Tamers are eventually called away by main bases, which we actually don’t know anything about. The previous sect leader also disappeared after some mysterious higher-ups of the Ouroboros Hall contacted us.’

’Nobody knows where, but all Sovereign-rank Tamers eventually have to go away. Even the rare solo Tamers who had reached Sovereign rank somehow disappear once they are near the peak or at the peak of Sovereign rank. And there are also no Monsters stronger than Sovereign rank anywhere. I don’t even know the rank above Sovereign.’

’Chuthulos, do you have any idea about this?’

[ Unfortunately, I don’t have cosmographic knowledge of this world. If I try to explore it myself, I’d get discovered by the gods of this cosmoverse, so you have to explore and find things yourself, Brother John. But I can tell you the reason why sovereign-rank Tamers disappear. ]
