Chapter 334 - 334: Sakumo’s Shock

"Uncle looks so scary," Ginji whispered to Tsunade at the dinner table.

"Don't be nosy," Tsunade scolded, glaring at him. Couldn't this brat see everyone was trying to eat in peace?

"Never mind him, come to your aunt for a hug," Nayuki said, glancing at Sakumo before opening her arms to Ginji.

"I don't want to be that close to my uncle," Ginji said flatly, rejecting Nayuki's invitation without hesitation.

"You child..." Nayuki smiled and slapped Sakumo lightly on the shoulder.

"I'm just a lowly Anbu Commander. Can't I even sulk by myself?" Sakumo said, putting down his chopsticks, feigning the expression of an offended spouse.

"Sakumo, what are you even talking about?" Tsunade sighed, feeling helpless. This was complete nonsense, and now it had somehow turned into a discussion about positions.

"You're the Hokage, and he's on your side," Sakumo continued, ignoring her. "How could you two be so heartless, letting the three of them go back to the Land of Rain alone?" He first pointed at Kawakaze and then at the three disciples quietly finishing their rice.

Minato, meanwhile, was already enjoying the show.

"Big brother, listen to me," Kawakaze started. "If I dare to let them go, it's because I have confidence in them."

"You have no idea," Sakumo snapped, cutting him off. "Tell me, what makes you so sure? It's easy to talk, but where's the proof?" His protective instincts flared as he thought about the dangers the trio might face.

The depth of his care for the trio was clear, and if this side of him had shown more in the original story, he might never have met such a tragic fate.

"I'm impressed," Kawakaze said, shaking his head. "Fine, let's settle this. Come with me. Nagato, stop eating—come out."

"Yes, Sensei." Nagato put down his bowl and obediently followed Kawakaze.

"Hmph, I'll see what you're up to," Sakumo snorted, rising from his seat to follow.

"These two—can't they even eat in peace?" Nayuki sighed, watching the trio leave the dining hall.

"Never mind them; let's just eat," she said, addressing everyone else. They were brothers, after all, and this was just how they were. It wasn't worth worrying over.

"Don't be like this in the future," Tsunade warned Kakashi and Ginji.

The two nodded obediently. Judging by their current expressions, it seemed they intended to heed her words—for now. But who could say for certain? For now, a nod would suffice.

Tsunade smiled, satisfied. Family education had to start early.

Meanwhile, Kawakaze, Nagato, and Sakumo arrived in a remote corner of Konoha with a single use of the Flying Thunder God Technique.

"What are we doing here?" Sakumo asked, shaking off Kawakaze's grip, his reluctance plain.

"Don't worry. You'll see what he's capable of in a moment," Kawakaze replied, his tone cryptic.

Nagato, sensing something ominous, took two steps back. "Sensei, what are you doing?"

"Sensei hasn't tested your strength in a long time," Kawakaze said with a small smile. "Today, let me see what level you've reached."

As soon as the words left his mouth, red seal crawled up Kawakaze's face, and his chakra surged. The sheer intensity made Sakumo's heart sink. Did he really need to go this far?

"Sensei, let's talk about this," Nagato said, clearly uneasy. In a blur of motion, he leapt into a nearby tree, creating distance. He was fully aware of how formidable Kawakaze was in Sage Mode.

"Let's talk after the fight, so your uncle can rest assured," Kawakaze said, giving Nagato no further chance to negotiate.

In the blink of an eye, Kawakaze vanished, activating the Flying Thunder God Technique.

"Shinra Tensei!"

Nagato reacted instinctively, unleashing his ultimate defensive technique to shield himself. The powerful repulsion pushed everything back, creating a clearing around him.

"All of you still carry my Flying Thunder God markings," Kawakaze said, appearing again, a lightning-charged fist aimed directly at Nagato. His grin remained steady as his attack drew closer.

Nagato's pupils contracted sharply, his Rinnegan tracking Kawakaze's movement. But despite Kawakaze's incredible speed, his punch narrowly missed, thwarted by Nagato's timely Shinra Tensei.

The repulsion hit Kawakaze with full force, sending him flying like a cannonball. Trees around them shattered as Kawakaze crashed through them, the explosion of force rippling outward with Nagato at the center.

Even Sakumo, standing at a distance, was forced to retreat under the pressure of the violent wind generated by the blast.

"Already this powerful?"

The sheer force of Nagato's full-power Shinra Tensei left Sakumo stunned. This technique's strength far exceeded what he remembered.

Kawakaze, naturally, wasn't defeated so easily. When he reappeared in Nagato's line of sight, his hair was slightly disheveled. In his hand, he held a spear of condensed lightning, with a faint thunder dragon coiled around it.

"Thunder Dragon's Roar."

Kawakaze leaned back, balanced on one leg, and hurled the spear toward Nagato. Mid-flight, the spear transformed entirely into a dragon, its blood-red mouth agape as it streaked toward Nagato, leaving scorched earth in its wake.

"Are you trying to kill him?!" Sakumo shouted, his voice filled with alarm. He recognized this as one of Kawakaze's recent and devastatingly powerful techniques. Facing it head-on left almost no chance of survival.

"Banshō Ten'in."

Instead of repelling the attack with Shinra Tensei, Nagato chose Banshō Ten'in. He understood Kawakaze's intention—to let Sakumo see his abilities and finally set his mind at ease.

The massive gravitational pull cracked the ground beneath them. A colossal boulder erupted from the earth, and with a motion of Nagato's arm, it hurtled directly toward the Thunder Dragon.

Bang!

The resulting explosion was deafening. The boulder shattered, and debris rained down.

Sakumo activated Lightning Release Chakra Mode for protection, frowning as he looked skyward. The Thunder Dragon hadn't been neutralized—it continued its charge, albeit slightly weakened.

By now, Nagato had regained complete composure. Calmly, he extended his right hand, a slight smile on his face as he awaited the attack.

Kawakaze, seeing Nagato's confidence, refrained from launching another move. This wasn't a life-or-death battle, after all.

"Quickly dodge!" Sakumo shouted, alarmed as he realized Nagato wasn't preparing to repel the dragon with Shinra Tensei. He started to move, but it was already too late.

The massive Thunder Dragon collided with Nagato in an instant.

"Preta Path, Absorb," Nagato whispered, his voice steady.

The Thunder Dragon came to a halt, unable to advance further. An invisible barrier surrounded Nagato, absorbing the chakra-based attack entirely. Within moments, the dragon dissolved into nothingness.

"What kind of technique is this? Chakra Absorption Technique?" Sakumo asked, his sharp instincts quickly piecing it together despite never having seen it before.

"Yes, my dear brother," Kawakaze replied. "So, can you rest easy now? If that's not enough, we can show you more."

Without waiting for Sakumo's response, Kawakaze turned to Nagato.

"Summon a few pets to show your uncle."

Nagato nodded, forming a hand seal before slamming his palm to the ground.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three plumes of smoke erupted, revealing three massive beasts: a Three-Headed Dog, a Giant Crustacean, and Yatagarasu. Their imposing forms exuded power, making the scene even more striking.

"What do you think?" Kawakaze asked. "Are you reassured now? If this doesn't do it, I can always ask him to use a bigger move."

Kawakaze paused, pondering whether it would be excessive to suggest Nagato demonstrate Chibaku Tensei.
