Chapter 333 - 333: Nagato’s New Mission

"Big brother."

Kawakaze walked out of the Hokage's Building with Hayato and headed straight to Sakumo's office.

"What is it now?"

Sakumo didn't even look up, continuing with his work. He had grown accustomed to Kawakaze's antics.

"Have someone call Maple Squad over. I have something to tell them," Kawakaze said, walking over to the sofa and sitting down nonchalantly.

"Is it that urgent?" Sakumo asked, raising an eyebrow. Since they all lived in the same house when not on missions, Sakumo found it odd to make such a fuss.

"It's not that urgent," Kawakaze replied. "But it's hard to explain right now. Just call them over first."

Sakumo sighed. "Always so mysterious."

Though he grumbled, he still gave a subtle signal to the assistant standing behind him. The assistant nodded silently and left the room.

Before long, there was a knock on the door.

"Enter," Sakumo called out, setting his work aside and looking toward the door.

"Uncle, Sensei," the four members of Minato's team greeted as they entered.

With no outsiders present, they dropped the formality, removing their masks to reveal four slightly older, more mature faces.

"Sit down and talk. Don't be so formal," Kawakaze said, motioning for them to take a seat beside him.

Sakumo leaned back, resting his chin on his hand. He was curious about what Kawakaze was planning.

"Sensei, is there something you wanted to tell us?" Minato, the eldest of the group, asked first.

The three members of the trio turned their attention to Kawakaze, their expressions filled with curiosity.

"It's not really about you, Minato," Kawakaze clarified, pointing at the trio. "It's mainly about these three."

The trio exchanged glances, their confusion growing.

"Sensei, what could be so important that you wanted to see the three of us?" Yahiko asked, speaking up this time.

"It's not a big deal," Kawakaze said casually, his tone calm and his face carrying a faint smile, as if he were discussing something trivial. "I want you to go back and rebuild the Land of Rain."

For a moment, the room fell silent.

"Are you sure you're not joking?"

Before the trio could react, Sakumo stood abruptly, his chair scraping loudly against the floor.

Rebuilding a country? This wasn't a minor task—it was monumental, and Sakumo couldn't believe Kawakaze would propose such a thing so lightly.

Sakumo had watched the trio grow up and had come to see them as family. The idea of sending them into such a dangerous and uncertain situation was unthinkable.

"No."

This time, Kawakaze's expression turned uncharacteristically serious.

"Then tell me, what plan do you have to ensure their safety?" Sakumo asked, assuming Kawakaze must have devised a foolproof strategy.

"No plan," Kawakaze said plainly, shrugging his hands. He simply trusted in Pain's strength—that was all.

"Then how dare you send them?!" Sakumo slammed his hand on the table, the sound startling Minato and his team. None of them had ever seen Sakumo this angry with Kawakaze before.

"Don't be so impatient. I trust their abilities," Kawakaze replied calmly, his unhurried attitude only fueling Sakumo's frustration.

"They are my subordinates, and I won't agree to this," Sakumo said firmly. His protective nature left Kawakaze at a temporary loss.

"Big brother, you have to trust them too. Do I look like I would harm them?" Kawakaze softened his tone, trying to ease Sakumo's anger.

"You never know," Sakumo replied with a snort, though his stance softened slightly.

"Uncle, I don't want to let Sensei down," Nagato said, his voice steady and serious as he looked at Kawakaze and then at Sakumo. Despite the risks, he was determined to live up to Kawakaze's expectations.

"You silly boy, this is no laughing matter. You three need to think this through," Sakumo said, clearly torn. His only concern was their safety, but he couldn't deny their resolve.

"We've thought it through. We'll go wherever Sensei tells us to go," Yahiko said decisively after exchanging glances with Konan and Nagato. His words filled Kawakaze with pride.

"You are worthy disciples of mine, Hatake Kawakaze," Kawakaze said, his face beaming with pride.

In his mind, he knew how powerful the trio had become. They were far stronger and more capable than their counterparts in the original timeline, having received systematic training and guidance that made them a formidable force.

"As you wish, I don't care anymore," Sakumo said with a long sigh as he sat back down. Though reluctant, he knew he couldn't stop them. He wasn't about to chain the trio up to keep them safe.

"Sensei, can I go help them?" Minato asked, understanding that the decision had already been made. If the trio was going, he wanted to lend his strength to support them.

Minato had already resolved to do his part, even considering the possibility of involving Nawaki's team. He had faith in everyone's abilities. Restoring the Land of Rain would be difficult, but not impossible.

"You can't go," Kawakaze said, shaking his head. Minato had already gained some fame in the Ninja World. If he went to the Land of Rain, it would only reveal Konoha's involvement.

"Then who else are you planning to send?" Minato asked, quickly grasping the reasoning. He didn't believe for a moment that Kawakaze wouldn't send any support.

"No one," Kawakaze replied without hesitation.

"What?" Minato was stunned. He couldn't believe his sensei was being so ruthless. Were the three of them really expected to rebuild a country alone?

"You heard me right," Kawakaze said calmly. "The main force of this mission is these three."

"Sensei, it's not that I'm questioning your decision," Minato began, trying to reason with him. "But this is too dangerous."

"There's no need to say more. I trust them," Kawakaze said, waving a hand to cut Minato off. This mission needed to remain secret, and sending any more Konoha ninjas would only increase the risk of exposure.

"Senior Brother Minato," Nagato spoke up, his tone firm. "Since Sensei has chosen to trust us, we can definitely do it."

Nagato, having already mastered much of the Rinnegan's power, didn't see rebuilding the Land of Rain as a particularly difficult task. Most people were unaware of his true combat strength, apart from Kawakaze.

Yahiko and Konan, however, looked slightly uneasy at Nagato's confidence. Were they really that strong?

"Overestimating your abilities," Sakumo muttered, clearly exasperated. He couldn't believe how reckless Nagato was being.

"Uncle, don't worry," Nagato said, offering a smile. He knew Sakumo's concern came from a place of care.

"I really don't care. Do whatever you want," Sakumo said gruffly before storming out of the office, slamming the door behind him. The loud bang echoed through the room.

"Out of sight, out of mind," Kawakaze said with a bitter smile. "I'll just have to deal with his dark face when I get home tonight."

"Sensei, maybe you should reconsider," Minato said, trying one last time to sway him. "Even uncle is angry."

"There's nothing to reconsider," Kawakaze replied firmly. "The matter is settled. Today was just a notification. Now, I'll wait for updates."

With that, Kawakaze snapped his fingers and disappeared from the office.

"I don't understand why you three agreed," Minato said, turning to the Nagato trio. "At the very least, you could have asked Sensei to assign you some backup!"

Minato vented his frustration at the trio, talking so much that his mouth went dry.

"Senior Brother Minato, we appreciate your concern," Yahiko said, wiping his face as if he'd just dodged a storm.

Yahiko then looked out the window, his expression turning serious. "It's time for us to go back and take a look."

The trio fell silent, gazing out at the horizon. Yahiko's voice softened as he thought, I wonder... is it still raining in our hometown?
