Chapter 136: Nuke

Like a wave, Elian rode the sea of chainsaws as they moved toward Tide That Roars.

The lobster Tyrant trembled seeing the body of metal. Like a force of nature, it crashed into him. He punched and struck the chainsaws aiming to break them. Some did, but the sheer number caused bits of blue blood to spurt out.

Although Tide wanted to keep his eyes on Elian, he couldn’t. Like an avalanche, his entire body was arrested by the sea of chainsaws. Contrary to what most expected, rather than the sharp sound of metal against a hard object, they heard something different.

It was a dull "plop", every tooth in the chains ripped apart a piece of jelly-like matter from Tide’s body. The semi-solid fluid was then further ripped apart by the following chainsaws. The event was similar to slime being slowly consumed by metal.

It was so bizarre that even humans couldn’t make sense of it.

"Why is that dude being spooned away? Wasn’t he supposed to be extremely hard?"

"In a grand display of adaptability, Elian Reed changed forms and is now dominating his..."

"Chat? Anyone know what is going on? I know, right? Big L for the Lobster Daddy!"

"He got himself beaten up to understand his enemy; this Elian is no mere warmonger..."

Elian flowed over the enemy Tyrant and rode the wave to return to the other Weapons. When he separated from Tide That Roars, his senses, which had been dulled earlier, returned. The skies never lost their light as Flame Swallows circled in the air like stars.

As he looked around and saw that there were corpses and corpses of Virexans lying all around. Without the golem sea, they were no longer "processed" and decorated the battlefield. Elian did not find any Weapon corpses.

"System, record this form as Tide Armor."

[Acknowledged.]

"Charade, human."

He followed the trail of bodies and saw his army converging on the last Mantises. Despite the Virexan Knights being strong warriors, the black army that marched against them was unstoppable. They slashed, stomped, and bit the Virexan golems, but none of them died.

They fell temporarily but returned with a vengeance. It was quite comical as the ones attacking them were their own compatriots. The flying shrimp distracted the giant mantises, while the humanoid lobsters and the spider crabs attacked their legs. frёewebnoѵēl.com

It was like watching an army of ants take down an elephant.

"What are they even doing?" Elian couldn’t help but comment.

"They are talking in a way I cannot understand, but according to Fluffy, the Virexans wish to prove themselves," Bianca explained.

"Prove themselves?"

Elian heard the soft flapping of wings and noticed Yearns land beside him. Her eye-catching appearance and her soft-spoken voice made her appear like a honey trap ready to seduce her next victim.

"Yes, Tyrant. My fellow Virexans wish to serve you wholly, except the Shellborne, we were all forced into this war. Myself included," Yearns added.

At her explanation, Elian could only nod his head. Even humans used other races as slaves for both war and labor. Other worlds using lesser races in their own hierarchy as fodder were no surprise.

But before Elian could even comment, he noticed two people joining the battle. One of them was wearing Living Metal armor; the other was a beautiful woman. He turned to see Ned and Charlotte. The latter’s eyes darted nervously.

"Relax, Charlotte," Elian began, "You are one of us now; I would never hurt you without reason."

The woman bit her lip and nodded, "I am aware, my Tyrant."

"Then why are you so uneasy?"

Rather than Charlotte, the one who replied was Ned, "The bastards nuked us, Elian."

"Huh?"

"What Ned means is that the Big Three have launched an Apocalypse III nuclear ICBM towards the city. It is on its way as we speak and will arrive in about fifteen minutes," Charlotte explained in a tone on the verge of breaking.

"Oh."

It didn’t take a genius to understand why Earth behaved in the way that it did. Rather than risk the Virexans rampaging for 2 days, nuking the city was the best option. Even if it didn’t kill all the invaders, it had the potential to kill Elian.

"Sigh, so to save face, they intend to wipe us out anyway. Some heroes of the world these bastards are," the Tyrant exclaimed exasperatedly.

There were millions of people in Crestfall it was one of the biggest ones since the age of Breakers began. And the big three had no qualms about butchering them all.

Elian could only gaze at the crowds watching his battle. They were just common people stuck in the battle of giants. The only reason they were not dead was that Elian stopped the invasion of aliens from another world.

And if he didn’t do anything in the next few minutes, they would all be dead without even knowing why.

Not if I have anything to say about it. Bianca, are you listening?

"Always."

You know about the coming nuke?

"I do. I wasn’t able to stop them from launching it. I slipped up," Bianca said mournfully.

Elian couldn’t help but smile. He looked to the skies and saw the visage of his lover with her shoulders slumped.

"Bianca, I am not blaming you. How is it your fault? It’s theirs. You are not to blame. They nuked us because I and the invasion are here. It has nothing to do with you."

"But Elian..."

"No buts. You are forbidden from blaming yourself; are we clear?"

Even from this distance, he could see Bianca wipe the tears from her eyes before nodding her head meekly.

"Okay, what do we do, Elian? Do we run? Or hide underground? I think the fallout shouldn’t be able to kill us if we somehow survive the blast," she panicked.

"We’ll shoot it."

"Huh?"

"You will use the ’Sun’ and shoot it out of the sky."

"What are you talking about? I can’t do such a thing!"

"Yes, you can, and you will. You are amazing after all," Elian said affectionately.

In the next moment, a worldwide announcement rang out.

[Alert: Crestfall City Announcement: Crucible match 1789756-45 has ended.]

[Congratulations to Earth! Glory be to the Tyrants!]

Seeing the system-wide announcements, Elian could only shake his head in dismay.

"Even our rewards are only given after conquering another planet; the crucible really is a battle junkie’s wet dream."

"WE WON? WE WON!"

"Three cheers for the Weapons of Valestra!"

"Hip! Hip! Hooray!"

"Hip! Hip! Hooray!"

"Hip! Hip! Hooray!"

Immediately the humans celebrated. They hugged, cheered, and jumped around in delight. None of them knew what was to come.

But Elian didn’t want them to die in ignorance.

"System, time until the nuke arrives?"

[It will arrive in ten minutes and fifty-four seconds.]

"Okay."

Elian began fiddling with his System UI, much to the panic of Ned and Charlotte.

"Yoh! Elian, what the heck are you doing, man?"

The Tyrant didn’t even look away as he answered, "What would you have me do?"

"Uhm? I dunno, take it out and throw it into the sea or something?" Ned replied glumly.

Charlotte came closer and bowed to Elian, "My Tyrant, please tell me what we are to do. If we don’t intercept it somehow, we are all going to die."

"Not all of us, humans maybe, but the Weapons will survive. I can turn you all after you die if you want."

"T-That’s..."

A figure suddenly appeared by Elian’s side and slapped him on his arm.

"Elian, stop bullying my friend!" Bianca then took Charlotte’s hands and tried to calm her down, "Lotte, relax, we’ve got this. We have a super weapon that can shoot a nuke out of the sky!"

Finding hope in Bianca’s words, Charlotte regained her vigor and grabbed Bianca’s hands forcefully. "Really? You do? How does it work? What’s the rate of success? Where is it?"

In that moment, a wild beeping resounded for every System user in Crestfall City.

Charlotte, who saw the messages, grew slack-jawed. "What?" She looked up at Bianca with her eyes wide. "It’s you? You are the weapon?"

Elian then wrapped his arm around Bianca’s waist and pulled her away from Charlotte.

"Yep, she is. And the world will see how magnificent my woman can be," Elian boasted in a loud voice.

Bianca blushed scarlet but did not push him away. Instead, she buried herself deeper into the Tyrant’s chest. "Elian, you are embarrassing me. Couldn’t you have said it more formally? What if I fail?"

Elian grinned and kissed the tip of Bianca’s nose.

"If you succeed, I will say the L-word for you."
