Chapter 34 - 34: Do Whatever You Want

Before he could open it, Ruby suddenly jumped to her feet.

Her sudden reaction startled Roman, causing the case to slip from his hands.

The contents scattered across the floor.

Scattered across the floor were financial records and evidence.

The documents were just copies, not the originals.

But even at a glance, the evidence clearly pointed straight to his wife and daughter.

The room fell into complete silence.

Ruby's face was drained of color. Her hands trembled as she took a step back, staring at Roman's dark expression.

Her voice shook as she tried to explain.

"Kate only took it for an emergency. Don't be mad. We still have Mr. Wilson to rely on."

Roman let out a cold scoff, gripping the receipts tightly.

The outrageous amount Kate had spent on a wedding dress only made his mood worse.

Ruby slowly inched backward, trying to slip away.

Before she could escape, a strong hand grabbed her arm and yanked her down.

She lost her balance and fell hard.

"Wham!"

Her knees hit the floor, and pain shot through her body.

Her face turned pale from the agony.

"Roman! I didn't mean to... but Kate needed the money!"

"I provide for you and cover all your expenses. And this is how you repay me? By stealing the seed money? Ruby, you've got some nerve!"

Roman was furious.

He quickly hit and slapped her several times, turning the room into chaos.

Ruby's pained groans mixed with Roman's enraged shouts filled the entire house.

Half an hour later.

"There's no use of getting angry now, Roman. We need to focus on fixing the financial gap."

Wincing from the pain, Ruby pressed a cold compress to her swollen cheek.

In less than a minute, all the servants' efforts to calm Roman were wasted.

"Don't be mad?! We're talking about six hundred million dollars!" he snapped.

"Did it ever occur to you to discuss this with me first? And now you want to fix the financial gap? Let me tell you something—word has already spread that there's a financial issue with the Shallow Bay project."

Roman had worked tirelessly to secure the deal, using his connection to Daniel.

Now that the project was on hold, vultures were circling, waiting for their chance to strike.

Fuming, he glared at Ruby, disappointment and anger burning in his eyes.

Unable to look his eyes, Ruby lowered her head and muttered, "Can't we ask Mr. Wilson for help?"

Roman scoffed.

"That's easy for you to say. Do you really think he'd do your daughter any favors after what happened at the charity dinner? Ridiculous!"

His harsh words hit like a slap, but he didn't hold back.

Ruby tried to endure Roman's harsh words, but in the end, she pushed back.

"Kate has always been by Mr. Wilson's side. Even if she made a small mistake, he would still marry her if they consummated the marriage."

The glint in her eyes caught Roman's attention as she laid out her plan.

"You know the kind of man Mr. Wilson is. He takes responsibility for his actions. Even if he realizes he was set up, the worst he'll do is ignore Kate for a few days. If she gives him a child, we'll have everything we want."

Ruby was determined to secure her daughter's place in the Wilson family.

Daniel had thrown her out for that motherless brat!

But once Kate's child was born, that boy would be nothing.

And when Railer finally lost favor, Ruby would make sure he paid the price.

Ruby, caught up in her emotions, pushed Roman further.

"What do you think, Roman? Once Kate marries Mr. Wilson, our problem will be solved. And the Shallow Bay project won't be the only deal you'll get from him."

Roman hesitated.

The temptation was hard to resist, but he kept up his act. Clearing his throat, he turned away.

"Do whatever you want. Just don't go overboard."

The Wilsons' Residence.

After finally getting to enjoy Mr. Charles' egg tarts, Kane happily returned to his room.

He was eager to check if his beloved mother had replied to his message.

But the moment he entered the room, he was suddenly lifted off his feet.

Kane was flipped, spun around, and pinched on the face.

It happened over and over until he finally spoke up.

"Mom, I know I'm your son, but a lady should keep her distance from a gentleman. You're getting way too close for my liking. Also... can you not take off my pants?"

With a quick flick, the bedroom light switched on.

Kane blinked as he finally got a clear look at the person holding him.

It was his mother.

But judging by her expression, she was not in a good mood.

"You little punk! Keep my distance? Need I remind you that I used to change your diapers?"

Kane paused.

"...Oh, right. Then, from now on, there should be some distance between a lady and a gentleman."

Chantelle was speechless.

She decided to let it go since nothing had happened to him.

Her child was growing up so fast. He wasn't a mama's boy anymore.

Sigh. That was the saddest thing for a mother.

Kane looked at her curiously.

"Mom, did you come because you were worried that the old hag would push me around?"

"Oh my god! I'm not unloved anymore!"

Overjoyed, Kane leaned in and planted a kiss on Chantelle's cheek.

He quickly pulled out his phone and snapped a picture of them together.

Seeing her son so happy, Chantelle felt relieved.

She had been worried for nothing.

As long as this little troublemaker wasn't bullying others, who could possibly bully him?

Chantelle sighed in relief.

She took a few more pictures with Kane before leaping out the window.

But the Wilsons had upgraded their security system.

The moment she landed on the roof, alarms blared throughout the estate.

Sirens echoed through the quiet night.

Without missing a beat, she pulled out a pair of infrared sunglasses and slipped them on.

The lenses revealed a web of red laser sensors blocking her path.

The moment Daniel arrived home, he headed straight to his study.

He stared at the report on his screen, and his expression darkened.

His fingers tapped rhythmically against the rosewood desk as his voice turned cold.

"Is this all you gathered on Easthan's charitable association?"
