Seeing the phone Luo An was holding, Reesi's eyes widened in surprise:

"This isn't Chenier's personal phone used for her private life? Luo An, where did you find it?"

Reesi spoke as she walked over to Luo An, looking down at Chenier's phone, which displayed a memo page with two words:

mole, doctor

Clearly, these were clues left by Chenier.

However, seeing the word "mole," Reesi suddenly fell silent.

The word not only meant "mole" but also represented "spy" and "traitor."

Considering Chenier's excellent combat skills and marksmanship, as well as the fact that Cooper was the first to run down from the SUV in the surveillance footage, countless speculations and thoughts flashed through Reesi's mind.

Seeing the changing expressions on Reesi's face, Luo An quickly guessed her thoughts.

Pocketing the phone, Luo An glanced at Winslow and Anwar beside them, whose expressions were equally solemn, patted Reesi's shoulder, and said with a smile:

"The word 'doctor' obviously refers to that hospital Chenier and her team were investigating earlier. Reesi, go to that hospital immediately to see which doctor is the issue and call for SWAT support; bring them back to the Special Investigation Team!"

"But..."

Hearing this, Reesi instinctively looked up, but upon seeing Luo An's determined expression, she immediately swallowed her words, nodded in agreement, handed her three stun grenades to Luo An, and swiftly left the alley.

Shaking the thirteen stun grenades at his waist and watching Reesi's fading figure, Luo An glanced at Winslow and Anwar, and with a big wave of his hand:

"We're going into the sewer."

"OK."

Winslow and Anwar exchanged a glance, immediately turning and heading towards the entrance of the sewer.

Winslow took the lead, with Anwar shortly behind him, while Luo An stood at the entrance of the sewer, took a deep breath, and was the last to enter the sewer.

The sewers of Los Angeles were not low, allowing the three of them to stand upright, with foul-smelling sewage slowly flowing beneath them, fortunately not too deep.

Turning on the lights on his helmet, Luo An looked around, not heading towards the left which he had guessed, but instead asked:

"Which direction should we go?"

"Left!" x2

Winslow and Anwar said in unison. After their response, the two exchanged a look, with Winslow being the first to explain:

"There are traces of someone having passed on the left; the right side has none."

"OK."

Luo An nodded, made a tactical gesture, with Winslow once again taking the lead on the left side.

Anwar frowned slightly but quickly followed; Luo An brought up the rear, keeping pace.

In the pitch-black sewer, their helmet lights illuminated the path ahead, accompanied by the sound of sewage, as the three slowly advanced with their weapons ready.

Having passed several cross-intersections in the sewer, their directional decisions were always consistent, so their pace was not slow.

Turning right into another sewer, Luo An suddenly spoke out:

"What do you guys think Chenier meant by 'mole'?"

Despite continuing forward, Anwar remained silent for a few seconds without speaking, while Winslow in the front thought for a moment before responding:

"I think Chenier was referring to the Mole Clan."

"Mole Clan" is a unique scene owned by the federation, comprising a group of homeless and marginalized individuals living in the abandoned subway tunnels beneath the bustling areas of major federal cities, leading lives as dark as if they were moles underground.

Above their heads, on the surface, are the bustling central districts of the world's major federal cities, while beneath the ground, in the abandoned subway tunnels or sewers, lies the home of the "Mole Clan."

New York has the largest number of Mole Clan members, followed by Los Angeles and other major cities, with Chicago having the fewest.

After all, the customs in Chicago are more unsophisticated compared to other cities, and Mole Clan members accumulate many items for survival, either scavenged or stolen. For many fierce homeless people, this place is like a treasure trove of free loot.

Luo An was noncommittal about their answers and continued moving forward. Suddenly, the leader, Winslow, stopped and whispered,

"There is someone ahead."

Luo An also heard the noise coming from not far ahead. The three of them simultaneously turned off the lights on their helmets and moved slowly forward in the dark world.

At a platform on the right-hand side of a crossroad, intended for sewage workers to rest, three men with pistols at their waists squatted and played cards under a dim light.

While playing, the men joked around, constantly talking about the price and feel of white powder and their performances and durations with women on the street.

Seeing this, Winslow frowned and asked in a low voice,

"What should we do?"

It was evident that these three men were guards. Shooting them would be easy, but if the gunfire attracted the attention of the enemies above the sewer entrance, things would get complicated.

Winslow was part of the Hostage Rescue Team, but even he could not guarantee that he could charge out of the sewer entrance against a barrage of enemy bullets.

Anwar from the counter-terrorism department also considered this and, known for his preference for direct assaults, silently pondered for a few seconds before suggesting,

"Let's first take out the light above their heads with a projectile, then..."

Anwar paused midway because the three men across from them also had guns, and if any of them opened fire, it would still alert the enemies at the sewer entrance.

"Let's leave this place for now and move to the surface through another sewer entrance."

Winslow presented his idea:

"We'll attack from the surface."

Winslow's proposal, stemming from his Hostage Rescue Team background, was comparatively the safest but also had problems, such as the presence of three enemies in the sewers and potentially more on the surface.

"This will take too long."

Walking at the back, Luo An, who had just consumed a bottle of hemostatic and a bottle of swiftness potion without the other two noticing, shook his head to signal Anwar and Winslow to step back. He holstered his pistol, pulled out his own dagger, and borrowed another from Winslow, grinning as he said,

"I'll handle these three."

"???"x2

Hearing this, Winslow and Anwar, full of confusion, turned towards Luo An and their eyes filled with shock.

Both saw Luo An dash past them at an incredible speed. A flash of white light swept by, and the dim light went out instantly, plunging the platform into darkness.

The three men squatting and playing cards were startled by this sudden event. They instinctively stood up to reach for their pistols, but the one closest to Winslow and Anwar felt nothing but air and then a sharp pain in his throat before collapsing.

The other two had just drawn their pistols when suddenly a flash of white light crossed their vision, causing intense pain in their weapon-handling hand.

Before they could cry out, the man on the left suddenly felt intense pain in his throat as if something had pierced it. The man on the right felt two hands grabbing his head, which was then forcefully twisted to one side, causing him to lose consciousness.

With the three "drug bugs" silently neutralized, Luo An turned on his helmet light, waved his hand to signal Anwar and Winslow to come over, indicating it was time to move on to the next step.

A short distance away, Winslow and Anwar stood agape in shock. The sewer had been too dark, and they hadn't seen Luo An's specific actions clearly. They only experienced a moment of darkness followed by brightness, and the three men who had been squatting and playing cards lay down on the ground, deeply asleep.

Choosing to ignore the admiring and awestruck gazes of Winslow and Anwar, Luo An stretched his hand to start climbing the sewer ladder. The urgent task was to quickly locate Chenier and Cooper, who had been missing for quite some time now.

The performance and words of Winslow and Anwar also made Luo An have some other thoughts about the word "mole."
