Chapter 142: Sounds like Ben 10.

It was a weird day for a lot of people in the empire. Perhaps this was because they had read today’s paper yesterday. Or maybe it was because the fact that the minister had been trying to buy sperm was shared by the capital daily in their 7 a.m news. Suddenly the corruption scandal tasted a little different.

All people wanted to know was how much the minister had paid. Still, this did not prevent the Imperial Supervisory Commission [ISC], from invading the offices of the minister and collecting everything in his office. From staples to computers, everything was taken away.

Only chairs and desks were left behind. Even those were overturned and inspected. A white plush couch in his office had been mutilated. All of the cotton had been pulled out as the inspectors searched for non existent evidence.

The pictures of the chair had been leaked and netizens had actually managed to get #RIP white couch to trend. It was 9 a.m and the news on every station was reporting the scandal.

"It is not even a corruption scandal anymore, he did not bribe anyone or receive a bribe. All he did was pay for sperm." Mei Mei laughed and she lowered the tv volume.

She rotated her chair slowly and faced three of her employees that were working on the plan to choose a mascots for the camp. As the first person to make the proposal, Wu Qing was there along with two men, He Zhenyu and Lin Jianwei.

Lin Jianwei had a degree but he had failed to find a job for two years after graduating so he registered on a government job seekers website and six months later, he ended up at the camp.

He Zhenyu had a masters of fine arts in graphic design. He had been a manager at an animation studio but he was kicked out when the studio owner’s son returned from France. He had also registered on the website. After one year of unemployment and doing part time jobs, he had ended up at the camp.

Mei Mei had chosen them to be part of the mascots teams because she wanted to push the camp mascots. They could shoot short animated dramas, prepare events and promote the camp to the fullest. Maybe someday their mascots could have a world famous cartoon regularly shown on television. freēwēbnovel.com

He Zhenyu was very eager to prove his worth and after hearing Mei Mei talking about a cartoon or animation based on the camp mascots, ideas had flown into his mind. He had been patiently waiting for her to finish watching the news to share them.

"So, what do you think of the suggestions I made before the news distracted me?" She asked them.

"Boss," He Zhenyu said eagerly, "I have already come up with ideas. The first is about an alien boy named whiskers who discovers a powerful alien device that lets him turn into different super aliens. He secretly uses his abilities to save the world from evil aliens. We can include the other mascots as either the aliens he changes into or the evil alien creatures he fights."

Mei Mei pinched her cheek, it did not sound bad.

"Or...or...or....." He Zhenyu said eagerly, "A series about a family of aliens trying to fit into the human world. They have special watches that can allow them to gain human shapes but their alien forms look like our camp mascots. It can be this quirky show about how they get into all sorts of troubles because of alien gadgets, powers and stuff like that. Their house can even be a space ship camouflaging as a normal house."

"Hmmm...." Mei Mei made a skeptical sound from her throat. "I like the first idea better."

"I have another one." He Zhenyu stood up, vibrating with energy as he prepared to present it. "Giant mechas, an academy and battles. I have not yet figured it out but in my mind I have drawn up some scenarios. Maybe a boy called whiskers..."

"Why can’t Whiskers be a girl?" Wu Qing jumped in with a question.

He Zhenyu frowned. Why was she asking something of little importance? Was the gender important?

"Sorry...I just think Whiskers is a cute name for a girl." She added.

"We can argue gender later, let us first iron out this part." Mei Mei said.

"Errr...I was saying a a human boy called Whiskers comes upon a watch that sends him one thousand years into the future and he joins this academy....." He took a deep breath and gave Mei Mei an apologetic look. "That idea is still in the works. But it involves aliens, mechas and battles."

"I still like the first idea, it sounds more promising." Mei Mei told him.

Wu Qing wanted to speak up and ask He Zhenyu what his obsession with the watches was. In every pitch he had made, the watch kept coming up. She even looked at his wrist, wondering if the smart silver watch he was wearing was special in any way.

She was not the only one to wonder, C4 was thinking of the same thing and he was scanning the watch through a camera on Mei Mei’ desk.

"I have one last idea." He Zhenyu said. "This one is about an incompetent alien lord named Whiskers trying to conquer earth but he always fails."

"Okay..." Mei Mei started but He Zhenyu who was about to sit down leaped up as if an ant had bitten him.

"Boss, I just had another idea. A team of young teenage superheroes that look like our mascots. They live together and go through personal challenges and drama while trying to save the earth. We add intense battles and comedy to it."

Mei Mei quickly started to clap before He Zhenyu could get another idea. It seemed they were flowing out of him like water out of tap that had just been opened. He was in the zone, over stuffed with ideas.

His face was bright and showed some pride as he took a sip of water and tried to ease his breathing. Zhenyu was feeling a little embarrassed for getting carried away but he was just thrilled to be involved in something he was familiar with.

"Do you two have any ideas?" Mei Mei asked Wu Qing and Lin Jianwei.

"I had two but Zhenyu’s ideas are better than mine." Lin Jianwei admitted.

Wu Qing shook her head. "I have nothing." She winced. "Sorry boss, I am like a train that run out of steam after sharing my ideas on the camp mascots. I was hoping that we would start working on the costumes and searching for people that are willing to take the jobs.

I was thinking that we should have a criteria for what we need. One, I think part timers are not suitable for this job because we have guests from morning to evening and sleep overs too.

The mascots need to be here most of the time, ready to put on performances, interact with guests, take pictures and carry out any other responsibility assigned to them."

"Actually part timers are no trouble if the work is done in shifts" Lian Jianwei shared a differing opinion.

T4 and C4 were eavesdropping on the meeting and T4 was analyzing He Zhenyu to see if he was a transmigrator or by chance a fellow system host. His first idea sounded a lot like Ben 10, a cartoon from another world. In fact, all of his ideas had that feeling to them.
